Root or sub domain for my site? (I forgot which I used to target)
-
Hi there,
I'm sorry for what is most likely a daft question with an easy answer. I have searched the web but whilst there are lots of answers about this generally, nothing seems to answer my specific problem.
I have just begun relaunching my site - workingfirstaid.co.uk - but basically cannot remember if I used to try and get links pointing to www.work... or work...
I know I have so few links already that it probably doesn't really matter, but I don't want to spend time pointing to the wrong version.
My internal links point to the non www version, but searching google for [working first aid] brings up the www version.
Thanks in advance for your time!

No problem.
Yeah, that is the canonicalization problem I referenced.
Depending on what you use to manage your website this can be fixed in an administrative panel of sorts, web.config, or .htaccess file - but those can sometimes be pretty advanced.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for taking the time to respond, I really appreciate it!
I've just done a little digging and noticed that the whole site exists as a www and a non www version. I'm guessing this is going to cause all kinds of duplicate content issues?
I think I might just have to find someone to come in and clear it up before I get too involved with creating new links, else it might take longer to sort out in the future?
Thanks again,
Cord

While your internal links are pointing to the non-www version, you have 14 linking root domains pointing to your www version.
You can you opensiteexplorer.org to get this info.
Also, check out the best practices for canonicalization to help you fix this issue.
Hope this helps.
Mike

Help: Trouble converting customers with new adwords campaign for a new site
I have just launched my brand new e-commerce site www.zenory.co.nz We are wanting to expand global as you can see we have com.au and also .com but due to our min budget we had to start with NZ first for organic search and a min monthly budget on adwords which doesn't come close to what our competitors are paying. Really is it worth paying out our limited budget with adwords? Or should be put that into ranking organic search. While we have only just started our adwords PPC campaign and I think it has only been roughly two weeks - We have had around 18 people sign up, to which we have a 3 step process, however, we are struggling to convert and complete a transaction which customer places credit card details in step 3. Does anyone have any ideas around how we could better optimize or perhaps make any suggestions? Our competitors spend rather large amounts of up to 3000k - 300k per month on adwords, and there is just no competing with that. Any suggestions I would definitely be open to... Thanks alot

Landing page on a separate domain?
I want to start a PPC campaign for an ecommerce site, but my ads are rejected due to my URL being offensive. The name works great from a branding perspective, but it has kept me from being listed in certain directories and advertisements. I thought about buying a separate domain to host the landing pages for the PPC campaign where the user would then be redirected to my product page for purchasing. Is this a good idea? Would you recommend another approach?

How to make use of those traffics on non-conversion page?
I am working on a website which sells eBooks softwares, most of posts on the site are teaching people how to solve eBook-reading problems and will lead visitors to download and try the software. But some posts are not related to the software, we just write it for traffic, for example: link-bait post such as top xxx romantic eBooks, free eBooks tools review, etc. These posts have got a pretty considerable traffic, but visitors just come here, read, like/share/comment, then leave. Is there any way I can make use of these pages to convert? Thanks

Can using the Google Keywords tool and/or SEOmoz cause problems for my company's IP address?
I just started with a company a few weeks back, working on-site doing SEO work. I've been using SEOmoz as well as Google Adwords' Keywords tool. I just got a message from one of our reps saying that people at the office (and this is a huge office) have reported tons of CAPTCHAs being thrown up frequently. I told them I had been running searches with Google Keywords tool and SEOmoz, but would that really cause that much of a problem? Is there anything I can do in order to fix this, some keyword finders that won't get me in trouble, etc.?

Site Redesign - 2 Target Audiences?
Hey everyone, we are planning a redesign on our website (we have been planning it since Fall last year, but got very busy in the Winter), and some new content / design questions have arisen. Right now, we are a "digital media" agency, and we offer video, design, and marketing services. So we do web videos, motion graphics, websites, seo, really a little bit of everything except for 3d modeling. What we are really trying to sell is the combination of these services (we may create a web video and redesign a groups website, then manage their adwords and marketing campaigns) and become our audiences "Go To" digital media agency. We were toying with the idea of giving visitors the option of picking from one target audience or another when they arrived at the home page, and their experience would be customized to best fit the needs of that particular audience from there on out. For example, on our homepage we were thinking of display our overview and value proposition (which would be the same, no matter which target audience group you were a member of), then asking if the visitor was a "Small Business Owner looking for guidance" or a "Marketing Director looking for outsourcing partners", then based on what option they chose, they'd be directed to a corresponding landing page optimized for converting this audience. We were worrying this may drop our domain or page authority for our home page, since these aren't really keywords that we'd normally be trying to rank for. We understand that it is ideal to have 1 "niche" target audience, but we found that we heavily service both audiences. Any help or suggestions are appreciated, thanks!

14,000+ links a to one site - is this a problem?
First, thanks to those who have helped me before. Second, according to Google Webmaster there are about 14,765 external links to my site. According to Open Site Explorer I have 22. So a couple of questions: 1. Why such a discrepancy? 2. Of the 14,765 links shown in Google Webmaster 14,665 are all from one place and all link to my home page. The site is interiordesignproductfinder.com. In August of this year I bought a sponsorship there. There are several of these sponsors so which show up on a rotating basis. Will having 14,765 links all of a sudden showing up be grounds for some type of a Google downgrade? Why are there 14, 765 links instead of just one. Is a new link created every time our sponsorship rotates to the page? Another thing, in the past couple of months our conversions have dropped significantly. we average about 180 visits a day with a 50% bounce rate. Is there anything obvious thatt might have caused this drop? Thanks for any insights. Don www.uniquegiftsanddecor.com

How to you determine what a good CPA is on an ecommerce site?
Do you calculate shipping, warehouse cost, cost of goods into your CPA? Lets say my current CPA is $20 and average order is $100. Its 20% of each order cost goes to lets say ppc, seo, email or affiliate. Do I include cost of shipping lets say its $7.00 and cost of goods are $40.00 I end up with a profit of $33 and that doesn't include taxes, salary, warehouse cost ect. *this is all hypothetical, Im trying to see if my real CPA is inline or I should work on decreasing it. Any thoughts? Thanks

Difficulty Using GWO?
I've tried several times to use GWO, and I can handle copy-pasting some code etc... yet despite this, it seems that I can't get GWO right. Furthermore, it appears to me that a lot of the things you'd like to test require fancier manipulation of GWO than the standard setup allows for. Do you guys also find GWO to lack user-friendliness? Are other platforms easier to use and get right?
