Google Places and Hotel Finder
-
I work with a few hotels in Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Google Places has not launched in these regions so it has been impossible for me to start an account and get my properties listed in hotel finder.
Somehow my competition has managed to get one of their properties listed and it's killing me! Does anyone know of any way to speed up the process? I'm very involved with Google+, FB, Twitter, Pinterest but G Places and Hotel finder or Google Maps don't want to pick me up.
Any ideas?
Thanks Mozzers.

Vadim, thank you very much for your timely response.
I have tried to create a local Google+ page, however Costa Rica is not an approved country yet. I have added all of the information possible in Map Maker, I added some more information, perhaps that will speed things up.
Do you have any other ideas? Thanks again for the help.

Hi James,
This is Google's reply:
Google Places for Business are not available in my country. How do I add my listing?
You can create a local Google+ page for your business and verify it by post. Local pages include a map of the business’s location and feature its address, phone number, and hours of operation. Local pages also share the functionality of other Google+ pages - you can create and manage circles, start and join hangouts, and share content like posts and photos.
Alternatively, you can add information about your company in Map Maker, if it’s available in your country.
Have you tried the above methods?

Can you send over a screenshot of your competitor's listing as it appears on Google.

Google Analytics Search Console for International Countries
Hi Moz Community, Our e-commerce site is trying to gauge the opportunity of certain queries for specific countries. I'm trying to use the search console data presented in GA to do this. I'm looking at the top queries filtered by each country and also the top landing pages for each country as well. The non filtered data for queries and landing pages is completely different than by country and some if it looks wrong. For instance, our most popular query by impressions shows 0 query impressions in the US once filtered by country. Our site is based in the US so this doesn't make any sense, the same is true for landing pages. Is the queries and landing page data in GA under search console a combination of all countries? Since our target is set to the USA in search console is this data technically US based? How is this data so off? Thanks for answering!

How is Google determining location for geotargeting
Hello, I have a question related to Geotargeting.
International SEO | | Lvet
Let's suppose I have a website: mysite.co.uk
As far as I understand Google will consider this site targeted for the UK and will appear on searches preferentially from the UK. What happen now if I have a person located in Spain (with a Spanish IP) and searching in Google.co.uk. Will mysite.co.uk still appear in searches? What are the factors that Google takes into account for Geotargeting? Thank you0 -

How to rank in Google for a specific country?
Hi, I've a relative good ranking for a specific keyword in google.com (english queries (hl=en)), but searching for the same keyword in google.com.br (Brazilian Portuguese (hl=pt-BR)), my rank for that keyword is far worst. The question is: I need to do something specific to rank in google.com.br (hl=pt-BR)? I'm doing the regular link building. Creating some blogs, blogging for 10 days before droping my links, and creating link wheels the same way. The blogs I create to make links are written in Brazilian Portuguese, also, the blog that I'm trying to rank higher, is also written in Brazilian Portuguese. Sorry for the english, it's not my native language. Thanks

Google US vs Google UK
I could have posted this somewhere else, but I cannot find it. So, I have keywords that rank well in Google US and many that do well in Google UK too. I thought all of my keywords ranking well in the US would also rank well the UK. I have figured out today that it is not the case. Why would I rank in the top 3 in the US and not even show up in the top 50 in the UK? It is very strange. Thanks for your help! I am not super new to SEO or web business. I have had a very good company that has been ranking well since 2004.

Backlinks that we didnt place, killing our SERP rank and PR
I am in need of advice regarding back links that we did not place, and which are hurting our search engine results. How and why they got there I cannot explain. But they have appeared recently, and are damaging our SERP ranks. For several years, I have been a member with SEOmoz, and we have done our search engine optimization in house. I am the owner of a personal injury law firm, which is a competitive field in search engine optimization. Recently, in the spring, we updated our website, added significant content (over 100 additional pages), we set up a better site structure, and we completed a significant back link campaign from white hat sources. As a result, we were the strongest law firm in search engine results in the state of Arizona, and the page rank from our home page went from a 4 to 6, and from our next highest level of pages, they went from a 3 to 6. This happened in 10 week period. Our search engine results were fantastic. We were getting a significant amount of business from out Places page and our Organic results. That has almost completely dried up. Approximately 6-8 weeks later, we started having some serious problems. Specifically, our search engine results decreased significantly, our page rank reduced from a six to a four. So we started using SEOmoz tools to see what the problem was, and when we created an open site Explorer report, there are approximately 1000 different links from very shady websites they are now linking to our home page. Some of these linking URLs prompt a download to video and other files. Other of the linking are simple on junk sites. Obviously, some other person placed these links. First and foremost I am interested in maintaining the integrity of our site, and if there were a way to remove these links, and protect against that in the future, that is what I want. Secondly, if there were a way to find out who did this, I would like to know that also. What options and/or actions should be taken. I am thinking that I may need to employ a professional/consultant. Will I have to transfer content to another domain? Your thought and help are appreciated. Thanks,
