False Conversion Data in GA
-
Hi all, I have a problem with Conversion Tracking in Google Analytics. Our contact form conversion completes when the user hits the Thank You page. Yesterday we had an increase in conversions that didn't correlate to form submission emails.
It appears that one person filled out our form, then returned (hit the back button?) to the Thank You page another 8 times as there were 8 entrances to the Thank You page and it's currently no indexed.
Is there a way to prevent this from happening?
Or should I just note in Analytics that the Conversion data is wrong for that day and note how many?
Thanks!

What you're describing should only report one goal success according to this, unless they're going to the thank you page in different browsers/devices? Is it all the same person for sure? Or could someone have shared this URL?

Hi Sameer,
Thanks for your answer. It's not so much about the form being submitted more than once, it's more about the thank you page getting hit and creating inflated stats.
It seems to me that the person who is doing this is leaving our site and then backing into the thank-you page (see attached).
Per the attached, the Goal Previous Step - 1 is (entrance) so to me that would mean that they are backing into the page. They are definitely entering the page, not sure exactly what they are doing.
I've also attached a Reverse Goal Path for another site which shows the traditional (accurate) Goal flow.

Hi nsauser,
One way to achieve this is disable submit button through javascript after 1st click.
Ask developer how he can do it for specific time period. There must be some way.
Other way is after on thank you page, provide good navigation options for user, so he will not come back and hit same button. Thanks

Problems with analytics, conversation data and assisted conversions
Hi guys. Having issues with analytics. Firstly, it doesn't record all our sales accurately. My boss downloaded a sales report directly from our site, and it doesn't match up to the analytics, our actual sales were significantly higher than Google analytics was reporting (by about a 1/3). Any idea why Google is missing so many of the conversions? Also, I'm trying to work our how many assisted conversion we are getting from our ad words campaigns. I've been looking through our top conversion path data to try find conversions that started with a paid click. However, I seem to have some inconsistencies. We have only one ad words group that is on the display network (Re-marketing V1 Ad group 1) , and according to analytics we have a conversion from it (See Screen shot 1). However, there is no record of this in our ad words data. (See screen shot 2). This is over the same time period. I don't know what to take from this. Can anyone help? Isaac. Some goal conversion in Google analytics showing under referral
Yesterday I have created Google analytics account for a new website but few goal conversions comes from payment gateway site (paypal.com, epdq.co.uk) and showing under referral. How to fix this issue so I can know the real source of Goal conversion. *Note - utm_nooverride=1 on thank you page applied, payment gateway URL is already placed in Referral Exclusion List. So please don't suggest either of them. Thanks

No Data in Custom Report set to 'Hit' Scope
Hi Guys, Been having a problem recently with a custom report I have set up... I want to find out number of sessions, bounce rate, session duration etc for different dimensions on my site - store area, store name, product type etc but I cannot seem to get the data to filter through to the report I have set up when 'Session' scope is selected. If I set it to 'hit' then I do get the data but this will only record the first instance of a dimension being triggered (from what I can gather) rather than all dimensions that might be triggered during a complete session. Has anyone experienced similar problems? Thanks, Dan

Google Maps not passing referral data
Google Maps is not passing referral data (URLs, not KWs). Google+ Local is referring, but nothing from maps. Maps referrals appear to be coming across as direct. Any ideas? We haven't found anything online, one of the guys at the office documented what we did find, using Chrome's debugger - http://manofactionmetrics.com/2012/11/02/google-maps-not-passing-any-referral-data/

An initial set up question - linking to GA
when viewing campaign it indicates there is a problem linking to our GA account but the details entered are correct. Any ideas what the problem might be - nothing on the campaign settings page gives me a clue. There is a highlighted box saying disconnect from GA but nothing else. The only thing i can think of is that the GA account was set up by a third party and we have access to view it - could it be a permissions problem?

Sessions in GA - need clarifications
Hello, Regarding recent change in how Google now defines a session... If a user visits a site from a different traffic source (say Google and Bing ) within 30 minutes, would that show 2 visits now ? Was earlier it considered 1 visit ? Also, sessions ends "at the end of the day" It can be different for different users ? How does Google defines end of the day ? for USA time ? Thanks

Sort referring sites by visit change over time comparison in GA
I can't believe I've never done this before, so I'm going to assume that I previously must have figured it out via excel, but I'm hoping there's an easier way. So I want to compare the referring sites between April and May and see which have sent (specifically) less traffic. The problem with doing a comparison in GA is that it only sorts by the highest traffic for May, when actually I want to see the largest negative change (by number, not percentage) between April and May. Is there a way to do this via the dashboard or am I just going to have to play about in excel for 10 minutes?
