Backlink value of 9Slides.com link
-
I got a backlink from http://www.9slides.com (site like slideshare) which is cool but I'm trying to compare its worth vs a link from slideshare. It is extra work to create content in slide + video format and its DA is lower- are there any positives I'm missing? Has anyone analyzed this site, any suggestions?
-
it really depends on your content. this site has a so so DA of just under 50 with over 400,00 links from just 200 something domains.
http://www.9slides.com/Talks/Growth-Hacking-is-not-sexy
this page PA of 0.
http://www.9slides.com/Talks/Fast-Mobile-Development-with-Apache-Cordova-PhoneGap-and-Backbone-js
PA of 22 since april
in comparison, slideshare has a domain authority of nearly 100 with 64 million back links from over 300,000 domains, but you would still find PA 0 slideshows on their platform as well.
http://www.slideshare.net/FrostSimula/10-tips-your-development-partner-wants-you-to-know
so you see, one is definitely more popular or much more established than the other, and in the end that plays some role, but YOUR CONTENT is what determines its PA and popularity, not the domain it is on really. too many of slideshows on both of these sites have horrible PA which means no1 cares about them or creators did not do a good job of promoting it. You have to face facts, the more niche, and the less mainstream type of content (the more professional and highly focused crap) the harder the challenges.
in comparison you can check this one on another provider
http://prezi.com/id1nlqcvqhrw/why-you-want-to-hire-me/ this content was cool and a bit aged, so you can see how it got that nice PA
http://prezi.com/a_4dfvuzpeg1/the-decade-of-data/ this content is too new.
both are on mentions of home page
http://prezi.com/isuuq2i9awi3/prezi-3d-template-by-sydofr/
here is another one with a higher PA. SO TIME IS OF ESSENCE when you are trying to analyze these choices, time and quality of content are about your higher determining factors, although your platform of choice can play a big role into how popular your content becomes and how fast, how sharable it is. not to mention the mere factor of traffics for each of these sites.
here is some hint as which platform gets more visitors overall
Prezi Alexa Traffic Rank: 1,648
9slides Alexa Traffic Rank: 239,923
Alexa Traffic Rank: 44,706
NOTE: Alexa numbers are only a hint, not really too accurate, but you can possibly arrive at an educated guess here about the correlation between PA of your slideshow page (lets say you have the same identically popular and quality content posted on each one of these platforms, at the same time) and how popular the provider itself is.
Given all of what I saw in this very loose and quick analysis, I'd pick prezi (you need a tad bit more skills on this platform) and i would spend a great amount of time and effort in ensuring what i do resonates well with target audience and would further make sure my target audience gets notice of this even if they do not naturally find this stuff on any of these platforms, meaning i would leverage as much controlled exposure to that link as i could via every available medium up to and including offline mediums such as TV or Radio or magazines, not to mention the plethora of apps and various other online mediums.

I think that a link from www.9slides.com won
t do you any harm BUT it
s not worth the work in comparison to a link from slideshare! The site has no real visibility, no PageRank, only 1 Top10 position within Google USA... slideshare has also a very bad visibility but as we all know visibility is not the only point, as well as the PageRank is not an unique feature... but if you take a look at all those aspects, slideshare is the better source for a link... just my opinion supported by the stats from the sistrix tool

We all know that SEO companies often build backlinks from LinkedIn, Facebook, and X accounts for their clients, but where else do you build backlinks for every client to help improve your clients organic SEO?

Products To Products links
Hi,
Image & Video Optimization | | Tormar
I want to create good internal linking structure, but I have a problem with product to product link. E.g. I have a new model of product: iPhone 6, and old iPhone 5, and I want to put link from iPhone 5 to iPhone 6, but if I make link like this, I dropped for a few positions. Also, if I have similar product e.g. photography Kit for iPhone 6, and I put a link from this additional product to iPhone 6, I will lose my position.
Why, do you have any recommendations?0 -
Footer links vs Homepage Content
We are redesigning this site http://www.crystalshop.co.uk/ but not reinstating the ecommerce yet so the primary aim of the site is to increase foot traffic in the shops. The list of shops on the RHS of the homepage is really messy but is useful. I would like to move these to the footer... is this a bad idea? If this is, is it a bit of a gamble to move it to the bottom of the homepage rather than higher up as it is? We are already featuring a link to the shop finder page but I want to get the locations in as prominent place as possible but it's quite a long list!

Tips for local link building?
Hello Mozzers, Working on a site that has locations around the country and is targeting words like "city name+long tail keyword". They're fairly well optimized on-site, so we're working on recommending localized content but could use some advice for link building. Beyond Google places, what have you guys seen that works?

Isn't video content killer-link bait?
I have not tested this yet and but I cant find anything useful on it searching online. My theory is that if you host a video on one of your own webpages and have the embed code of that video right under it then isnt everyone that grabs that embed code and sticks it on their site/blog giving you a backlink? When you click on an embed YouTube video it takes you straight to YT so surely someone embeds one of your videos that is hosted on your site it must give you a backlink? If this is the case then what would the ancor text be if any? and how would you change it? What's the value of this think over a pure text link from the same page? If this the above is correct then surely video is an incredible link building tool? The challenge still lies with making cost effective, quality video content but if you can get the hang of that then your on to a winner right? YouTube may get millions of hits and 'be the second biggest search engine' but having own branded, self hosted, killer-link-bait videos on your site must be the way forward? Adding a video site map will help tell Google the video is there and it should get indexed in video searches. Also if it gets visibility in universal search you get visitors coming straight to you site....

How to Determine the value of a Paid Legal Directory
I am considering paying for a listing on the legal directory on FindLaw.com, at a cost of $300 per month. This includes 5 deep links back to our site. I think the value of the listing and profile is next to 0 other than the SEO benefit to obtain a competitive position on the first page of the google map. But I am having a hard time ascertaining the SEO value. They have a page rank of 7 (at times 8 in the past). I have already done many of the other directories, dmoz, BOTW, yahoo! and have a regular blog on my site and lots of content. Will this contribute any noticeable SEO difference? Any thoughts? recommendations? If this will contribute a noticeable SEO difference, then imo it is definitely worth it.
