Www.thousandreasons.org - is this an article submitting site?
-
Hey Guys
I was viewing my competitors back-links and I noted that he had a link to www.thousandreasons.org
I was somewhat baffled as this site pertains predominantly to USA Newspapers.
Can someone please confirm if this is an Article Submission Site?

Digging a little and it looks like a totally fake site by some hack SEO.
Any time you see a link in a suspicious site's footer that says "SEO xxxxxx xxxx" (in this case "SEO Company Perth" that's a massive red flag.
To the left of that link is a link "LEF" - that points to a Link Exchange site. How obvious is it then that this is a bogus site?
Other clues:
No other navigation links of any value that communicate "this is a legitimate web site".
The "Remarkable US Presidents main navigation link has links in it that just point to another hack site "MTI-USA.com" and THAT site, even though it's got "USA" in the domain, links to a Perth "digital agency"...
Bottom line, it's a mess. And the lesson here is don't get caught up examining competitor links assuming you see something that could be helping them unless you know what you are doing. All it will result in is your site being slapped with penalties.

Hi George,
Doesn't look like an article submission site to me, looks like a domain that expired a few years ago but had a decent backlink profile and has now been picked up by someone to sell links or pad out their own link profile(s). The newspaper articles look like they are from feeds and the only links I can see that are not to big US newspapers are the three little links down in the footer. The site itself only appears to have about 10 pages in total.

301 redirect from a de-indexed site
Is link juice passed from a website that has been intentionally de-indexed by webmaster? The scenario is I had 2 websites with similar content. I decided to get rid of one by de-indexing. I also did a 301redirect from my de-indexed site. Not the whole domain but just the 2 URL's which I believe could pass on link juice. In this case how long the link juice would flow via 301 redirect?

Reassessing site achitecture
Firstly I'm only a recently new member but am already a big fan and rely on the tools a lot. For the sake of context, our site is www.cleancruising.com.au which we've steadily built into one of Australia's top cruise sites. We've focussed on building unique content including a mapping engine to show over 10,000 cruise routes, 3D ship models for virtual tour simulations and over 350,000 words of unique descriptive content. So we think we've got some good content which we currently rank quite well for, but think there's a lot of room for improvement with the links, both internal and inbound. Looking at the internal links, I thought the site architecture was pretty good but now I'm not so sure. The site hierarchy is like this: home > cruiseline (20) > ship (200) > itinerary page (12000) > enquiry form and home > region (25) > port (1400) > itinerary page (12000) > enquiry form My question is, am I wasting link juice by doing the following? A sample itinerary page shows lots of links through to the enquiry form (with different parameters). However years ago we added the enquiry form to be blocked via robots.txt and none of these page variations are indexed by google. Is this stuffing up the link flow, and should I allow the forms to be indexed so their links can add value back through the site? Are there any tools for visualizing a site link structure? Lots of questions and hope this is appropriate. 1am in Australia so may take a few hours before any follow up posts, cheers

Risks with sharing my original content with other sites
We write our own unique content to our blog a few times a week. The content is written by professionals (doctors and such) and carries a bit of authority. We periodically get requests from other websites who want to post our content on their blog. We also find that some people will just go ahead and use our exact content (often with a link attribution), without asking permission. Is there any risk of us not getting credit for being the original source of the content if others use it in its entirety? Are there other risks? And more importantly, what should we do to make sure we're getting the SEO credit we deserve? Some ideas which have been discussed that may or may not have credence: Only let others use the exact content well after we've been crawled, so we'll be seen as the first publisher Only let people cite the introductory paragraph, with a link allowing them to read more at our site (with good anchor text) Require people to summarize our story, with a link for the full story Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

Linking strategy between my own sites
Hi, I have one main site, let's call it food.com I also have 10 smaller sites, let's call them mexicanfood.com, indianfood.com, italianfood.com etc food.com is on its own separate dedicated server the 10 smaller sites are all on a shared IP in hostgator I don't want Google to think that I have created the 10 sites for only purpose of creating links to each other. So, would you recommend that all those 10 sites link to each other? or should there be no interlinking within those 10 same IP domains? What about linking from those 10 sites to my main site? How should I structure my own backlinks not to get penalized by Google ?

What are the best back links for a review site?
This is specifically for reviews for web hosting or VOIP services. Very technical. Where should I look for sites to get backlinks from?

One client, one b2b site and one b2c site - linking relationship
I have a client that has 2 websites in a particular industry. The first website concentrates on advertising services and products to other organisations/companies but does not sell anything online. The second website is an ecommerce site with many products from the same industry and is more a b2c operation. Would it be considered ok to add maybe 5 footer links from one to the other and vice versa? considering that they are footer links and will ultimately increase total links pointing to both site exponentially. Both sites are hosted in the same location.
