Google+ multiple languages
-
I'm facing the following situation:
We have a website (barcelonacheckin.com) with multiple languages. Each language has each own url. For instance English is barcelonacheckin.com/en and Spanish is barcelonacheckin.com/es.
If I'm right there seems to be a relation between the number of +1's and ranking in Google. Therefore we created a Google+ business page (https://plus.google.com/101996769636292908838) and we linked it to the english page of our web-site.
The number of +1's on our business page is in sync with our English landing page.
Now we want also to gather many +1's in the other languages. But it seems that you can only connect one Google+ business page to one web page. My question is. Whould it be smart to make a separate Google+ business page for each language?
I wonder how other multilingual web-sites are dealing with Google+.

Good discussion going on here. I did want to highlight this Google Forum discussion in case it would help with this topic: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!searchin/business/language/business/m9ye2hHR5Nw/nlzE_WQgKf4J

Happy to help, good luck let us know how it goes

Thank you for your reply. We will go for it.

Well the way Google looks at everything is "what's best for the user" and the same should really go for this, What would be best for the user experience, if you want to build a community then multilingual community then I would go for it as it would reinforce that you're there for your community and at the end of the day Google loves user experience.
Research and advice is always good though so don't be afraid to get more opinions & options!

We will be interacting with our community in various languages.
Actually my main question is: Would it be smart to create a separate Google+ page for each language? So barcelonacheckin.com/en has a link to the English Google+ page with rel=publisher and for instance barcelonacheckin.com/it has a link to the Italian Google+ page.
Our main goals is getting better ranks.
-
Firstly would you be using all the pages? What I mean is Would you be interacting with your community through them or would you most just be using your English page? If your mostly going to use one it would look better because of the engagement you would get through that.
Not sure if it would help but you may find this page helpful (half way down near bottom of the article).
Other options is rel=author. Really you need to think what do you want to get out of it, is it for rankings, is it for engagement/community ?
Technically you could get barcelonacheckin.en and redirect to barcelonacheckin.com/en thus get the ability to have more than one G+
Hope something in that lot helps you.
Best of luck.

Legacy Locations and Google Local - How to Handle
Hello - I'm working with a client who has some transitioning brands - and they're hesitant to change the legacy branding in Google Local and on their website because they're afraid of losing traffic from the old brand. Is there a standard practice for keeping traffic on the old brand terms, while still adjusting to the new branding on Google/Yahoo/Bing? Thanks,

Google Authorship
Hey Guys, For about a few days now, my google authorship photo no longer appears in search results. Also, I am unable to access my google places page, as every time I try I get an error from google (error #500). The places page still works, but I cannot log in as an administrator. I have no idea why this is happening, as the rich snippets tool indicates that everything is fine and dandy. I have also made no changes to the structure of the site. Can someone please explain why I am encountering these problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How to feature in Google restaurant reviews?
Hi, When I Google a restaurant name here in the UK - try "fat duck bray" I see the photo of the restaurant on the right hand side, the Zagat review score and then right at the bottom of this section there is "More Reviews" with links to Urbanspoon, com, qype.co.uk, Zagat.com and Blackbookmag.com (often TripAdvisor will appear here too.) To one of the sites I work with these are all the competition so the natural question is how would one appear here? I've never seen anything covering this before so interested if anyone else has read anything on this or has any experience on this. Thanks in advance for any answers.

Has anyone had problems with thier google maps page after the google plus intergration?
About a month ago Google contacted one of my clients to inform them that the Google places is discontinued and their Google plus page will be the new Google places. They gave my client an $100 adwards credit for adwords express so their location will still show up for their business name during the change from Google places to Google plus.. When you type in the business in a local area or on a GPS now.. It is no where to be found. You have to know the address to get directions or go there on a mobile devices. The Google plus page for all of these locations is not currently showing up either. I have contacted Google and Once again something has been released without implementing it correctly. No one seems to know what is going on... after talking to three people. Does anybody know what is going on ???? This is a huge deal when being a local company.

Yelp Reviews and Google + reviews
After reading this SEOmoz thread http://www.seomoz.org/q/getting-reviews-to-stick-on-yelp-google I have learned that one cannot leave fake reviews because Google and yelp can see if the users are real by the user behavior. If one of your clients is happy with your service and they have never left a Google review or yelp review and you have them leave your company a review it will be filtered and not count. Google’s +1 is fairly new and I am not sure if many users use it. IMO a user is much more likely to Facebook "Like" something. Same goes for Yelp, I feel like many local services don’t have a high enough search volume to benefit from these areas. If a company cannot have a satisfied customer leave a review on Google + or Yelp because they are not active enough on these networks, the company does not receive the credit they deserve. I'm assuming SEOmoz has the contacts to make a change, well here is my idea: How about Yelp and Google + send a letter to the address of the review... (Same as a Google places listing, reviewer will receive letter and enter a pin number online to confirm review) this solves the issue and businesses can receive the credit they deserve. In all fairness if a company does right by someone, the company deserves the review, right? Otherwise this should not be a ranking factor IMHO!

Google Places Pending for months..
We are a franchise with over 80 locations. We have bulk uploaded all our places pages and all but 15 of them have been approved...this was over 2 months ago!!! Any idea why the final 15 will not stop "Pending Review"?? Google has been no help!(of course) It seems the information is correct across Yelp! CitySearch, and Yahoo Local... Any ideas?
