Tweet Archive
-
I'm planning to create a Tweet Archive on my WordPress install.
Ideally each tweet would be a separate entry in the database. That would mean that each one could essentially have it's own page.
I think that if each had it's own page though, it would just create a very deep site with super shallow almost non-existant content.
I am pretty sure I know the answer to this, I'm just looking for some substantiation...
Should I just keep it as a list and not have each tweet exist as a separate page?

Ah, so it was me! You are absolutely correct, my apologies.
Of course, if you only wish to follow the outgoing tweets from an account you control then there would not be any spam concerns.

Thanks Ryan,
Just for clarity, the topic was brought up by you. "By keeping tweets as their own posts, I can update them real-time and easily remove spam."
And for some further clarity, this idea of archiving would only be to archive tweets that I have produced, not tweets by anyone else.

You brought up the topic of spam in your first reply to me. By spam, I am thinking you are referring to undesired content.
It is common for tweet trackers to follow hashtags associated with their site. For example, you may have a site which talks about corvettes. As part of your tweet tracker you may follow the #vette has tag. It would not be uncommon for someone to tweet an inappropriate tweet to #vette. You probably would want to filter that tweet out of any data you collect.

I still think I'm a little unclear where the spam will be an issue. On your website? On Twitter?
How does the spam you're talking about show up?
Thanks!

If you only follow activity from a tweeter, let's say SEOmoz for example, then you are pretty safe.
If you include any tweets to SEOmoz or mentions of SEOmoz, then you are opening yourself up to the world and anyone can say anything. Since SEOmoz is a reputable group, you will still most likely be ok, but occasionally can encounter an issue.
If you actually follow a hashtag such as #SEO, then you open yourself up even further to spam.

Thanks for the response Ryan.
What spam would you be dealing with if they were just an unordered list?
-
I currently have a Tweet feed. All tweets which match my search criteria are posted to my site in a forum section just for this purpose. By keeping tweets as their own posts, I can update them real-time and easily remove spam.
This process could be expanded upon by having an end-of-day cron job which takes all the individual posts and compiles them into a single daily summary.

Business Tweets Showing up Organically
Question. I've noticed in the past and more recently that if you search a business (example: Adidas) in Google, you'll see their activity on Twitter being displayed organically. How can you get your business to show? I also did some research and found that some business that have their tweets displaying are not Twitter verified. I though that may have something to do with it...I guess it doesn't. Does anyone know what "triggers" a business to have their tweets show up organically. When you search Adidas, you'll see their business info, then the twitter carousel (displays 3 tweets and a arrow to view more). Thanks for your help. 102GB

Is it possible for a twitter user to automate a response to a tweet that I marked as a favorite?
If favorited a tweet of someone I don't know very well and received a response within a few minutes of the tweet asking "where have you been and what are you up to". Seems general enough to be automated and not specific enough for me to think it was personally sent by the user. Thank you.

UTM Code, URL Shortner, or hardline in tweet
We have partners that promote our site via social media. We're looking to leverage twitter to increase SEO rankings. Does it make a difference if we use a link straight to our domain, our domain with UTM codes, or a url shortener?

Do Your Social Metrics Such As Tweets Transfer With a 301?
Got asked this today, and I don't know the answer, so throwing it out there to all your mozzers! If I 301 redirect a page that has built up a lot of tweets, likes, shares, even +1's, does that social data get transferred over to the new page in as far as social strength/ authority is concerned? Would Google still be able to see the previous version of this page had x amount of tweets etc, and take this into consideration when ranking the new page?

Increasding the number of Tweets & FB Shares
Just asking for advice / strategy on increasing the number of tweets & Facebook shares to a particular domain. We're seriously lacking in this department and I'm not exactly sure how to get started as we're a B2B services company. We're languishing on page 2 of Google where all the other stats look good enough for us to be in the top 5, tweets and FB shares are 1 and 1 respectively. Any advice gratefully received - we also have a small budget set aside for an expert to provide a ranking strategy if anyone's interested. Many thanks in advance, Tony.

What is more important, tweets/shares or traditional link building?
SMM has a presence that is just growing and growing. I'm hearing all these back and forth talks about how tweets/shares are influencing rankings more than traditional link building would. If so, would this be a short term ranking improvement, long term? What percentage would you say SMM (ranking factor) has when ranking a website in the SERPS.

So if I wanted to monitor tweets about Lady Gaga and limit it to Austin, TX how would I filter this?
And lets say I wanted to do this over an extended period of time. And for bonus credits... is there any program that would notify me of each new tweet as it happens.
