What happend to Advanced Segments?
-
I notice Google made a bunch of changes to Analytics this week (although I can't find an official announcement?). Does anyone know where the Advanced Segments feature went??
-
Totally agree! What's nice is that they have several "pre-built" segments you can easily select by drag and dropping. I wish Google would stop making constant changes to their products.
-
Yep there it is! Thanks! Not very intuitive UI...
-
Dana's second image is the advanced segment builder. The area she circled is "advanced conditions" and "sequences" (which are very powerful, BTW).

In the second view, If you click one more time on "Create New Segment" you are taken to a screen that contains the Advanced segments.
-
I believe if you go into "Acquisition" and select "Overview" then click the circles next to "All Visits" the screen will flip to a view where you can view and select your advanced segments. I'm including some screenshots.
Is this what you were searching for? LOL, I found it by accident quite honestly. Not sure if this is what you are needing or not.

Can Segment capture organic traffic? If so is it more reliable than Google Analytics?
Hi mozzers, We just learned that our standard GA hasn't been as reliable as we hoped so and we are trying to find other ways to track organic sessions. Which solution would you consider? Is Segment one of them? If so, is it more reliable than Google Analytics? Thanks

How do I create a segment that shows me all pages using a certain keyword? But nothing that doesn't have that keyword?
There must be an easy answer to this, but I can't seem to find it. All I want to do is create a segment in Google Analytics that shows all pages and search strings with "orthopaedics" in the title, with pageviews, uniques etc. If I simply navigate to "All Pages" in Google Analytics and then click Advanced Filters and do an Include Page Contains "orthopaedics" it works just fine. (See attached Screen Shot) But when I try to recreate this as a segment, it pulls in all other pages the users visited before arriving on the orthopaedics page I want to include, which I don't want. I can manually exclude each URL I don't want, but this is tedious and I feel there must be a simpler method I'm just missing. At the end of the day, I'm trying to create a list of every page and dynamically created query string that includes the word "orthopaedics" to say doctor X, your orthopaedics section generated X views, and here's a list of the pages. Hey Guys, This might be an over spoken topic but I havent been able to find a proper answer or solution for this issue. I have been searching the web for quite while now and I havent found a reasonable solution to segmenting the traffic from google news one box.News onebox traffic is counted as organic/google in GA.Is there a way to measure the traffic coming from the onebox news??Please note that news.google.com is not the same thing.I really appreciate any help.

Can you use an advance segment as a metric or dimension for another advance segment in GA?
I have 3 advanced segments set up: Branded keywords Non-branded keywords (all) irrelevant non-branded keywords. irrelevant non-branded keywords are keywords where the visitor is not ready to purchase. for example keywords including terms such as "ideas" or "how to".. these have generated 0 conversions for us, and I want to track these separately from keywords that have a chance in converting, since the conversion rate between the two groups vary a lot. for the advanced segment "branded" - i listed a listed of keywords pertaining to the company name - using includes, Matching regexp and | (pipe) between keywords for advanced segment "non-branded keywords" - i took the same list and excluded matching regexp | between keywords. **for advanced segments "irrelevant keywords" ** - i took one word as the keyword and used includes, contains, and the keywords.. using OR statement between keywords. pipe doesn't seem to work with the "contains", and only seems to work with "matching regexp". **What i want to do is excluded all items from "Irrelevant keywords" in advanced segment "Non-branded keywords". but i can't seem to exclude based on another custom segment. **nor can I list - [X statement OR (statement y OR statement Z OR statement AB)] any thoughts on handling this logic?

Confirmation page gets hit multiple times by some users. How I can I segment out unique visits?
Hi All, I'm web marketing manager at http://www.evenues.com which is like an AirBnB for meeting space. When calculating the number of bookings for our meeting spaces, I've set up a goal in analytics with the confirmation page as the goal URL. The problem is, it seems that some users are looking at the same confirmation page several times. We have unique URLs for each confirmation page, but some users seem to be visiting these unique pages more than 2 to 5 times. This skews our numbers a bit. This makes things a bit problematic when it comes to segmenting visitors. is there anything we can so that each unique URL visited only counts once? Thanks, Kenji

Advanced segements Google Analytics
Hi guys, I was to hasty last time marking the given question as answered. So i would like to ask another question on the subject. My original question was how to get a pdf report of 10 specific keywords with information about visits, pages per view. avg, visit time, new visitors and bounce rate. The answer was to create an advanced segment with "or operators" and adding all keywords on an exact match basis. I did this but it still gives me a list of more then 500 keywords in traffic sources organic view. Next to that i get different visitor numbers for some keywords where it says 40 at the normal segments (all visits) but gives me 0 when i turn on the advanced segment. I've been clicking and changing things for a long time until i got almost dizzy. Could someone plz help?

Nonbranded Segment in Analytics
I created a segment in analytics for non-branded terms. Problem is, that when I use that segment it shows all the search traffic even non-paid. Why is that? Or, how do I limit the non-branded segment to only non-paid search? The segment I created looks like this -- Dimension: Keyword Condition: Does not a match regular expression Value: Name of client (with pipes between possible words) Thanks.
