Should I delete past blogs that are "unoptimized"?

Hi guys,
I was recently brought on to do basic contracted content marketing for an ecommerce website built on Shopify. They have a ton of old blogs that were written with NO keywords in mind. The meta tags are totally different for what they want to get found for, links, ALT tags, etc. Should I delete all of those blog posts? Or just start optimizing new blogs?

The only thing I would ask is: What do you aim to achieve by deleting them?
They may not be 'optimised' posts, but if they aren't doing any harm - and by that I mainly been duplicate or thin content - then I don't see any reason to delete them. There is a school of thought as well is that a site with more indexed pages will, roughly speaking, be seen more as an authority site (and we all know Google loves authority).
So I'd not worry about them and focus on your fresh content and just optimise them. I'll just say as well, you don't always want to write with keywords in mind - your audience should be the primary goal, but of course it pays to have keywords in things like title tags, h1s and metas etc. Just don't stuff the thing with the keyword throughout (I'm sure you already knew this).
TL;DR - No worries mate, just write away!

See if any of those old blog posts are pulling in traffic or links. Maybe you will be surprised. If they are pulling in current traffic improve them. If they are not pulling in current traffic and the content is good, work with it. If the content is crap and pulling no traffic then you might redirect it.
In the past few days I did some slight revisions to an existing article to put a different spin on it. Then linked to it from my blog. One of my competitors linked to it and I am amazed at the traffic they are sending to me. I thought that I owned this niche.... not I gotta go see what they are doing.
Another article written four years ago, was in need of an update and ranking at about position #19. So I wrote to the company who is the leader in the field, asking if they would allow me to use a few images and answer a couple questions. I was surprised that the owner wrote back and gave me a lot of help - great images and great information. Enough to make the article "best-on-the-web". That was early this month. Now my article is on the first page of Google.

Different Blog Articles - What about Keywords Cannibalization?
Hi everyone, I have a question in regards to blog articles and long tail keywords variation. I usually create landing pages for the services of my business and create related topics for my blog with long tail keywords (tips, best practice, etc.). However, by using this method, I am a bit worried about the ranking of the different pages/blog posts. _(See Attachment - in this example, I tracked it with Serplab. MOZ keywords tracking is giving me the same result anyway). _ I created a blog post with a related topic 'office interior design tips'. Unfortunately, when looking at the ranking, the previous page (office-design) is not ranking anymore for this keywords and instead, the blog post office-interior-design-tips took his place. It moved from position 11 to 29 only because I created a blog post related to the topic. Therefore, what happened to the previous page? Does it stop to rank for this keywords once there is another blog post that is related to it? How can we avoid this fluctuation of ranking due to cannibalization? One can assume that by creating relevant content related to this topic, it should rank higher no? Thanks in advance for your answers. serp.png

Google: Is There a Way to Find Your "Unknown Search Terms"
I believe Google stopped reporting search terms for privacy reasons. All my searches show as "unknown". I found a video that showed how to get around this but it's not current. Is there any way to get your Google terms search information? Thanks, Jo-Ann

Previous keyword overuse on past blog posts: looking for a plan to proceed with new posts
My client has multiple office locations around the US. Each location has it's own subdomain for maximum local visibility. For example: "cityname.maindomainname.com" Each subdomain has it's own blog, and has, up until now, all posts have been key-worded: "product + city" followed by the blog title

For example: "Life Insurance San Fransisco | 5 Facts to Know" So on each subdomain (location), there are many blog posts done on the same product, in the same city. So they have a series of blog posts with the pattern below (hypothetical examples): "Life Insurance San Fransisco | Insurance Myths"
"Life Insurance San Fransisco | Which One is for You?"
"Life Insurance San Fransisco | Getting Your Policy Reviewed"
"Life Insurance San Fransisco | Buying From a Reputable Agent"
"Life Insurance San Fransisco | Cancelling Your Policy" The issue I am running into is how do I properly keyword/key-phrase all future blog posts for each location. The same keyword has been used so many times that it seems almost meaningless to continue to use it ("life insurance") even though it's the target product and location the client is trying to rank for. I don't plan on using the formula "product+city," but it would be nice to use the term "life insurance" somewhere in a key phrase or two. The client's goal, to rank high for their product in each, individual location. I am looking for guidance and advice on what would be the best course of action to achieve the client's desire for increased visibility in their target areas. An added challenge is the number of cities. Following their current blog posting needs/schedule, they want to do 60 posts a month, one for each city each week (14 cities), so I'll be on the hunt for how to write this many posts without writing duplicate content, but that's for a different question. So considering the above, if this were your client, how would you proceed?1 -
How do search engines treat keywords with "and"?
For example, I would like to optimize a title tag with two keyword phrases: industrial supply and electrical supply. Instead of creating the title tag Industrial Supply and Electrical Supply, which sounds unnatural, would I get the same SEO benefit using Industrial and Electrical Supply?

Ranking Tracker-"Sorry But This Page Inaccessible". ERROR
When I try to use the on page grader and enter my URL, an error message appears stating: "Sorry But This Page Inaccessible". The URL is http://www.nyc-officespace-leader.com/commercial-space/office-space and it works fine when I enter it on my browser. Any page from this domain generates this error. Is there a bug with this tool? How would I go about tracking ranking on various keywords? I see it is possible to tag keywords, and I have done so for about 250. But I don't know how to generate a ranking report for these keywords; ideally I would like to do so filtering them by the label I have applied. Any suggestions? Thanks,

The tools "term extractor" and "explore links" consistently give no data
I am accessing these tools from the "Rankings Report" page and looking at competitors pages. I click on the dropdown next to the keyword and select either "extract terms" or "explore links". In both cases I get a message that says SEOmoz has no data for the page in question. This happens consistently for many keywords and pages. What gives?
