Authorship's Back. Could a custom URL be why?
-
Hey Everyone,
First, thanks to everyone for providing me suggestions on how to get my authorship picture back. Sure enough, we did it get it back, but not for any reason that makes sense to me. We got it back within hours of changing our g+ url to a custom one (google provided us with one a few months ago, but I didn't like it, so I didn't change it). Well, now I figured, why not? We have to do something to get our authorship back, and after making that change within hours, we had our picture displaying again.
While I know this could be a coincidence, we haven't written anything new since we lost it in mid December. So, it can't be some influx of great content. And, since google is getting more strict about authorship, I don't see how we would have lost it in the first place, only to get it back without anything additional worked on yet. The only change is the custom URL. I know this is not ANY sort of scientific proof, but I figured I'd just throw my experience out there for others to see. Could this be the reason? Has anyone else had anything like this happen?
Good luck to everyone else who is working on getting their picture back! Though I can't tell you how to do it, I can tell you it can change back within a few weeks.
Best,
Ruben

Interesting - thanks. It's a bit hard to pin down, because Google has been changing the "volume" on authorship mark-up a lot these past two months, and that means both up and down on any given day. Authorship also seems to be page-based and probably query-based, which means any given site could have and not have the mark-up depending on the page and/or query in play. It's a real-time evaluation on Google's part.

Hi Ruben,
As it's been sometime since you were offered the new URL and you lost your image then it could potentially be an issue on Google's side. Let's not forget the social network is relatively new and has had it's fair share of issues.
Just an update for anyone who may of lost their picture on Google+, I would try and re upload it but rename it and possible adjust the size slightly to show Google it's a new image. I've had my image before the new URL structure and after and everything has worked fine to date

Authorship Implementation - Is it needed to place Rel='Publisher' on every page on eCommerce
Hi, On my eCommerce site I've placed rel='publisher' only on the homepage and rel='author' on all of the article pages. Is that the way to do it? Do I need to add rel='publisher' also on the article pages besides for rel='author'? P.S

Even though I placed rel='publisher' only on the homepage, when I use Google's test tool (http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets) I see my publisher ID also on product category pages (that don't have publisher nor author on them but do have regular +1 buttons). How is that? (bacuase of the +1 button)1 -
Possible to automate/semi-automate twitter followers into specified list(s) after the fact without doing so one-by-one?
I have a list of about 3,000 Twitter followers and would like to segment my followers into separate lists for "emergency preparedness" and "travel." Is there a tool that can help me automate this without reviewing each profile one-by-one?

Is my authorship working?
I am not certain if my authorship is working or not. If I go into google incognito, and search for my exact title of a new article, or any of them that are over a week old, then I will see my image and 'by My Name' which tells me its working. When I go to structured data testing tool and I enter the URL, I will get: Authorship Testing Result****Page does not contain authorship markupNow on my webpage NEWS section, it has a 'by My Name' at the top, and if the user clicks it it will bring me to my G+ account. When you go further into an actual article that link no longer works.http://bit.ly/14k8Zys you can see here.So is my authorship working or not? Seems to me it is or I wouldnt find myself when using chrome incognito, but I find it wierd that googles tool is telling me authorship is not working

Google Authorship Not Working
I've had problems with google authorship. I always check to make sure the snippet tool is reporting correctly but my picture appears some weeks and disappears others. I've changed my picture to make it a more recognizable headshot like some posts and blogs suggested. Is anyone else having this problem? My website is www.x4dc.com

Is it ok to have 'Authors' that write content for multiple sites even if in the same industry?
Hi all, I have a client that has 2 websites (different brands) in the same industry. I have encouraged them to become authors when writing content for each respective website and hook up their Google+ profile to the posts. Is this detrimental for SEO if they are writing for both sites? Or is it in fact a positive thing? Looking forward to your thoughts on this!! Thanks, Elias

Google+'s +1 for business....
I'm thinking (and I could be wrong) that eventually the number of people that have +1'd a site will begin to impact search results. After all, it is Google's platform. What are your thoughts on this? And do you know if having someone +1 your site is different than having them "follow" you or add you to their circles? Should a business have more followers or +1's?
