Authorship for Company Blog -- What if Employee Leaves?

This question has been sort of asked before but I haven't found any concrete answers. We've never really had a consistent author on our company blog. We had an internal employee writing, and then we outsourced for a bit, and now we're moving back to an internal writer.
With all the transientness of our authors, who should we be using for authorship? If the new writer leaves our company, they take all their AuthorRank with them. Would it make sense to post all content under one of the founders or maybe even a fictitious employee?
Edit: Orrrr do we get the new author to create a separate G+ Profile tied to their company email address that we can retain control over even if they leave?

I would tend to side with Oren on this one. When all of this stuff was new, an agency decided that the authorship their people built was 'rented land'. First, for shame. Second, they're missing out on what that author does later.
Stripping authorship is a penny wise and pound foolish tactic.

Another thing to keep in mind is that if someone does leave, and continues to build their credibility (through the ever-elusive potential Author-Rank) your site could benefit from having had them as a contributor in the past, regardless of the fact that they are no longer with you.
I would be wary of misappropriating authorship, as that seems like a practice Google would go after as authorship becomes more developed.

Sounds like you have bigger issues than just a writer. Your company should be about creating an experience that people are excited to see and to work at.
I personally would just hire a writer and let them use their account. If they do leave, just have them update their Google+ profile to past instead of current contributor. By allowing them to connect to your website as a contributor it will give them authority as well as you. To you because you hired them and for them because they will have established content in a particular niche or area. Also remember in the hiring process you don't want to scare them away and not give them credit for the work, especially if they are active in the community/niche of the product that they work for.

Blog.website.com or website.com/blog
Hello, I have a question, in some moz guidelines you can read website.com/blog is better/more recommended than blog.website.com. But when you look at the domain authority you see no difference. blog.website.com gets exact the same domain authority as website.com. So can somebody explain why website.com/blog is really better than blog.website.com? Or is there no difference? Thank you verry much

Updating blogs - SEO best practice
Thinking of new blog content and one option obviously is to check out historical popular blogposts via Analytics and do fresh versions of those. So my question is what is best practice: 1. Copy and paste the old blogpost copy but edit it to be slightly different while still having the old blogpost live or 2. just update the old one and re-promote I assume it's better to have a new version of the blogpost?

Is the Page Authority/Rank of my corporate site affected by my blog's PA/PR and vice versa?
If I host my blog on my corporate site (it is a wordpress blog) will the page authority and page rank of my site translate to the blog? And does this also go the other way around? My gut says this would make sense, and I think I have seen it in action with other corporate sites that host their wordpress blogs, but I want to be completely sure. Even better, if someone can explain to me how this works, that would be super helpful!

Does Google penalize for duplicate blog posts?
Occasionally, I get asked by another blogger if they can repost (in full) one of our blog posts on their blog as a guest post. I've always been under the impression that Google penalizes this type of behavior, but I haven't seen any evidence. Is this true?

It has over 280+ blog posts spanning over a few years, so there is A LOT of content that could benefit his main site. However is it worth it, or should he continue to run everything as 2 different sites? Also, of you suggest moving the content over, what would be the best way to do it in your opinion? He currently has links on his blog TO his main site, so there is a little bit of link juice there, but with a average of 300 views a day, he only get about 10 clicks to his main site from the blog.
