On-Page Report Rel Canonical and keyword density and backlinks...
-
Hey guys,
1- In the On-Page Report the "Appropriate Use of Rel Canonical" is not checked and it says
<dl>
<dt>Canonical URL "http://www.mydomain.com/"</dt>
<dt>We check to make sure that IF you use canonical URL tags, it points to the right page. If the canonical tag points to a different URL, engines will not count this page as the reference resource and thus, it won't have an opportunity to rank.</dt>
<dt>the domain points to the right page... Im not understading why its checked off..??? could it be because the canonical url has the ".com/" instead of just ".com" ???</dt>
<dt>2- it also shows that the Total Keyword Usage for this Page = 33 , is this good or bad? too little or too much?</dt>
<dt>3- Also when building backlinks should I include the ".com/" or ".com" ??</dt>
<dt>Thank you in advance! </dt>
</dl>

You need to decide on a single URL structure to your website.
http://www.mydomain.com/hello/
The above four URLs could lead to the exact same page depending on how your site is set up. This would cause confusion for search engines. Which page do they index? Also, when someone links to your site, the links would split between the various URLs so your backlink power would be divided.
The solution? Make a choice, then 301 or canonicalize your site based on that choice. If you decide you want the "www" version with the trailing slash, then the canonical code for your page would be:
Adding this code lets search engines know which page to index and to consolidate your links to that page.
With respect to your keywords, in general you wish each page to focus 1 or 2 keywords. I try to ensure they are used about 4 times on the page. If you see 33 keywords on a page you may be targeting too many words, or using them too often. It could also be that everything is just fine. It depends on a few factors.

1. you need to add a rel=canonical to the of your index page. a quick google search will get you the right syntax.
2. Seems pretty heavily optimized, but i wouldn't worry about it much more at this point. focus on link building.
3. doesn't matter as far as i am aware.

Backlink question
When I create a website for my clients, I always put our website link in the footer of the description, just to say 'powered by ieatdoorframes' with a link to our website. On SEMrush, its showing as a negative backlink with the reason 'compound', suggesting its a 'money term'. I add this link as I've had success getting new work from clients who like the site we built. I'm new to these terminologies and wondering what I should do?

Is it better to develop a good keyword I found on a new page on an established website or make a new site?
So I found a keyword that I want to go after, it gets over 30k searches a month, has a 100% CTR and has a difficulty of 42. Now my question is would it be better to build a page on our already established site (DA of 46) since the site and keyword are both related. Or would it be better to get a domain of that keyword and build a small site about it? The .com is taken but I could get a .co or .us just not sure if its worth making a new site or if I should just build a page on my current site about it.

Backlink Profile Cleanup
I have downloaded the domains that link to my website (550 domains) and I am going through the low quality (low DA) sites to ask them to remove their links to my website or I will disavow them. I have noticed alot of blogspot.in and blogspot.nl (SEE ATTACHED) Should I ask them for removal or disavow these? tJO50fQb

Hidden Backlinks
Hi, I hope someone can help me with this. We have a competitor who appears to be ranking No1 for a competitive search term with a very lame site and above some authoritative sites. He has been here for some time as well. When we check out his back link profile through OSE, Majestic and Ahrefs they show as only 3 backlinks from no PR sites. However, someone pointed out that they could be using a link network that is blocking every crawler apart from Google, Yahoo and BIng. I would like to know if there is a way to confirm this. For instance I know that we can use screaming frog to mimic Googlebot, however, if there a way to reveal the real backlinks to a site like this using any tools. Thanks

Should I offer our free eBook on its own page?
I work for an e-commerce website and we have written a super helpful eBook about one of the kinds of products we sell. The original idea was to offer it on the main page that we direct people to when they're shopping for this product, but it occurred to me that it might be better for link building and less cluttered if it has its own page. But we are concerned that link building to a separate page will not help with SEO for the main product page, which was the original goal. What should we do? Pros/cons?

Adding keyword to your url
Couldn't find the answer to my question anywhere so I'll give it a try here. If you have a site called www.example.com, and then want to add a keyword to this site, like this: www.example.com/keyword How do you add a keyword to your url like this? Without making the URL with the keyword your "main" URL, meaning you don't have to enter the keyworded URL to get to the homepage (www.example.com), and still rank better on the keyword put in the url. I'm a bit confused on the subject, would love for someone to help me understand! Thanks.
