Transfer a website from WP to Joomla
-
Hello guy's,
We have a WP website and we are moving soon to a new site that will be in Joomla.
Our website is very big and we are ranking with more then 400 keys in all the tshirts industry in the UK.
The new website will be with the same url's and the same domain so we will not lose any of the ranking.
Within this domain we have the blogs as well and a lot of pages.I'd like to get some tips about how to make the transition as smooth as we can to avoid problems with Google ?
We have more then 700 visitor a day so we can not take any risks regarding to this.
Any help is welcome !!!

Got you!!
Thank you for your help. -
You are on the spot with this, Edmond: "We will leave the url's the same as its critical for the results."
-
My main concern was that a big website the ranking with a lot of keys will get a bomp in the ranking.
We will leave the url's the same as its critical for the results. We decided to move to Joomla because my boss got convinced for some reason that its better then WP.
Thank you for your help !!

Hi Edmond,
Matt Cutts from Google, has great SEO tips for moving CMS platforms in this video.
If you are looking for a more technical help this resource and this should help.
Hope this helps!
PS: But like Andy, I am really curious, why you are choosing to move from WP to Joomla, in most cases WP is superior to Joomla, and that has much to do with the community behind Wordpress.
-
If all that is changing is the CMS and all new pages and the structure / hierarchy is going to remain the same, you really shouldn't come across too many issues.
Is there a particular reason for the move to Joomla?
Although this is Joomla to Wordpress, you may find some helpful hints in there http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-move-your-site-from-joomla-to-wordpress/
Maybe something here that will help too:

Is it worth maintaining multiple international websites
Hi I work for a British company which has two well established websites - a .co.Uk for the UK, and a .com for the US and rest of the world (in language directories). The Uk site is hosted in the Uk, the .com in US. The websites do reasonable well in Google on both sides of the Atlantic. The company is a small but quite well known brand. The company is now thinking of redirecting the .co.Uk to the .com as it would be cheaper to maintain. What would you advise? Thanks.

Rel alternate use for multi regional website with english language and same content
I have a website targeting multi language and multi regional users. For example, my main site is www.abcd.com which is in English and targeting US. I have the same content in English which is targeting UK and India with www.uk.abcd.com and www.india.abcd.com. I want to avoid content duplication and help search engines to show the right pages on the country level searches. I have researched a bit and have come to conclusion of using re alternate tag. Can someone help me with how to place the codes for the same. Many thanks Mozers!

Interlinking 60 ccTLD country versions of website
We will be launching 60 new ccTLD country versions of an established core website.
International SEO | | lcourse
Quality, human translated content in 35 languages.
We have a CSS dropdown menu with the 60 country flags and country/language name as anchor text. Formatted as deeplinks to the corresponding pages in the 60 country versions, that we planned to add on each page. How would you recommend to implement the interlinking between these 60 ccTLD? My concerns are: won't we dillute the link value of our links in the main page content too much with links to 60ccTLD on each page? may we trigger a google penalty as the new ccTLD have no other links yet and each page will have the same anchor text and links from exactly the same 60 domains. would you place the country dropdown rather at the bottom of the page (e.g. footer) to avoid that google will not crawl all links in main content page. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated1 -
SEO for .com vs. .com.au websites
I have a new client from Australia who has a website on a .com.au domain. He has the same domain name registered for .com. Example: exampledomain.com.au, and exampledomain.com He started with the .com.au site for a product he offers in Australia. He's bringing the same product to the U.S. (it's a medical device product) and wants us to build a site for it and point to the .com. Right now, he has what appears is the same site showing on the .com as on the .com.au. So both domains are pointing to the same host, but there are separate sections or directories within the hosting account for each website - and the content is exactly the same. Would this be viewed as duplicate content by Google? What's the best way to structure or build the new site on the .com to get the best SEO in the USA, maintain the .au version and not have the websites compete or be viewed as having duplicate content? Thanks, Greg
