Should i redirect this page?
-
Hi I have the following 2 pages:
http://www.over50choices.co.uk/Funeral-Planning.aspx
http://www.over50choices.co.uk/Funeral-Planning/Funeral-Plans.aspx
My dilema is that google sees the words "funeral planning" & "funeral plans" as the same thing, which might explain why the "funeral plan" page is not ranked v well.
My issue is that the "funeral planning" page is at category level and introduces the wider subject of funeral planning, which isnt just funeral plans, so if i 301 my "funeral plan" page i will have no where to talk about funeral plans.
My question is, Is the "funeral plan" page not ranked v well because of this or do i just need better optimisation of the funeral plan page so google is clear which is the key focus for each page?
Thanks

Hi Ash,
This makes sense - I'd definitely lean towards getting some freelance or agency help, but on the surface of things, the noindex, follow meta tag could be very useful. Especially if the gateway page has no practical use from an SEO or conversion standpoint, there's no harm in either removing it from the index in this way or doing a minor restructure to get rid of it (although the first option would seem to be much simpler).
Best,
Jane

Hi Jane, no the category page is just the "gateway" into the subject, there is only one "money" page that converts.
We are currently looking at how this section of our site works and looking at competitors that are on page#1 there doesnt seem to be a magic formula!
I think we need to employ the services of an expert to help, I have a basic knowledge but my expertise is in the subject matter not the SEO side.

Hi Ash,
To echo what Andy has said, adding a noindex / follow meta tag to a page ensures that whilst the page is not indexed, the other pages to which it links still receive PageRank / authority. Are there reasons why it is important that the category page is indexed, e.g. does it receive a decent amount of converting traffic?

Hi Ash,
There are a few things you could do here, but you don't need to look at redirecting to fix this.
If you don't really need Google to index the category page, you could always 'noindex / follow' it and then concentrate on the more targeted inner pages. SEO these for longer tail key-phrases if you find the they are not ranking too well at the moment, but don't keep changing these too often as this will send the wrong signals to Google.

301 redirects and impact on page authority
I need to restructure a section of my website, changing some page titles and moving some pages to other sections. This will then change the URLs but the CMS I use will automatically create 301 redirects so the old URLs still work. The question is, will this have any negative impacts on page authority/page rank? From what I've read, it seems having 301's used to have a negative impact but doesn't anymore?

Redirecting an Entire Site to a Page on Another Site?
So I have a site that I want to shut down http://vowrenewalsmaui.com and redirect to a dedicated Vow Renewals page I am making on this site here: https://simplemauiwedding.net. My main question is: I don't want to lose all the authority of the pages and if I just redirect the site using my domain registrar's 301 redirect it will only redirect the main URL not all of the supporting pages, to my knowledge. How do I not lose all the authority of the supporting pages and still shut down the site and close down my site builder? I know if I leave the site up I can redirect all of the individual pages to corresponding pages on the other site, but I want to be done with it. Just trying to figure out if there is a better way than I know of. The domain is hosted through GoDaddy.

Need advice on redirects
Hi, I have new web addresses for my subpages. None if them have external links. Should I do redirects to the new pages or just leave the old pages in 404 and let google crawl and rank the new page. I am asking because my current pages don’t have a good ranking and I am thinking starting with a clean url is better. Thank you,

Website Redirection Issue
Hi All, Like to know is there any better way to do 301 redirection. My Client whose website name is Online Plants created with OpenCart. Over the period of time he added nearly 10,000's of products and now he is cleaning them ( by grouping similar attribute under one products) which is right way to do. For example , Product A with different size ( X,XL,XXL ) previously had 3 product entry ( A - X, A - XL, A - XXL ) , now he is moving all of them under one. So while moving he is deleting the other two entry. Now whats the best way to inform google . Putting a manual 301 redirection for each and every product is impossible as there are more products. Whats the best way to go ahead on this.

Help With This Page
This is page - http://www.kempruge.com/location/tampa/tampa-personal-injury-legal-attorneys/ - is the most important one to my business, and I can't seem to get it to rank higher. It has the second highest authority and links, second only to my homepage (though none are all that impressive) but it is just buried in the SERPs. Granted, I know Tampa Personal Injury Attorney is the hardest keyword for us to rank for, but there must be some way to improve this. I know getting high quality links is an appropriate answer, but I'm looking for anything I can do solely on my end to improve it. However, if anyone has some ways to make the page more linkable, I'm all ears! Please, if you have a second to take a look, I'd appreciate any and all feedback. Thanks, Ruben

Will Creating a Keyword specific Page to replace the Category Section page cause any harm to my website?
I am running a word press install for my blog and recently had 3 of my main keywords set as categories. I recently decided to create a static page for the keywords instead of having the category page showing all the posts within the category, and took it off the navigation bar. I read about setting the categories to use NO index so the search engines can shine more importance on the new pages i created to really replace where the category was showing. Can this have a negative effect on my rankings? http://junkcarsforcashnjcompany.com junk car removal nj is showing the category section, So i placed the no index on it. Will the search engines refresh the data and replace it with the new page I created?
