My localized domains are not getting any love or juice it seems?
-
Not sure what best practices are, but I have my main domain, a .com and my localized domains, .com.sg and .co.id. As you can see from the screenshot from opensite explorer, i am not getting any linkjuice from my .com domain to my other local domains - what am i doing wrong here?
-
I suggest you should go with Jane's suggestion. create folders. Subdomains are actually seen as different sites. Will not carry the domain authority of the parent site.
-
Hi again,
This is definitely an option - you would probably be best to consider www.name.com/sg/, www.name.com/id/ instead of subfolders however, because subfolders can often be treated like separate sites, just like totally separate domains are. Subfolders tend to inherit much more of the authority of the parent site.
This is something to consider, especially if there is no good reason (like regulations in different countries or local markets with people who particularly like domains targeting them personally) for them to remain separate.
-
The content is actually different.
-
First question is why do have multiple domains? I assume that the content is same.
-
What about the option of merging my domains to subdomains? ie co.id becomes id.NAME.com?
Isn't this an option?
-
I will suggest to gather links from authoritive sites and also increase your width of linking domains. means you need to get good links from various types of sites related to your site's business. Increase unique linking back domain count.
Are these different domains are having same content in different languages or for different geographical audiences?

Hi Jane,
Thanks! Would you recommend that i combine all of my domains into the main .com one instead? Since it seems that google/moz is treating my localized domains as separate sites altogether, it seems that it would be wiser to just move the locality into the .com domain, ie sg.NAME.com instead of NAME.com.sg? or how about NAME.com/sg/ ? Is this a good way to do it?

Hi,
It looks like your .co.in and .com.sg domains have only two linking C-blocks, meaning that there are only two physical places (servers) on the internet that link to them. I am guessing that those two locations are your other domains.
In order for a site to accumulate authority, it needs to be linked to from a range of other websites, not just one or two. I believe this will be why Moz has calculated those domains as having very weak profiles. In contrast, 284 c-classes (unique servers, basically) are linking to your .com. I imagine these links come from a variety of sources in a variety of places and include sites owned by a very large number of different people. You need to build out the other domains' link profile as well, gaining links from a similar variety of sources. Then the sites' metrics (mozrank, moztrust etc.) will rise as well.

New URL, new physical address, New Name. 30 point drop in Domain Authority. Yikes.
I have a client who is asking for SEO help after renaming their business, getting a new URL, and somehow having an address change (without moving to a new location...weird...I know). This has set them back big time in terms of their domain authority (they went from a 46 to a 15 in DA). The web developers they work with put a 302 redirect in place from their old URL (home page), which had 10,477 links from 52 root domains, to their new URL's home page. Open site explorer shows that they now have 5 links! We can improve some of the local search set backs from the name and address change with a citation audit and clean up, but the domain name change is a killer. So here's my question or questions, really: Do we need to manually rebuild links with partner websites? I know there is debate around the actual link juice passed along from a 302 vs a 301 redirect (despite what has been publicly stated by Google). Or is this just a waiting game while old links get recrawled?

Do you get link equity from a redirect service?
When using a redirect service, do you get link equity from the redirect service or only from the linking website? Using opensite explorer in Moz, always shows me directory and redirect services as most important contribution for the domain authority. But I'm questioning if this is true. P.S. I'm not asking if link equity is passed from the linking website. That question has been answered many many many times. (hint: the answer is yes). H58xHAl.png pGH7e48.png

They've created at least 15 websites and have possibly many domain names which have been ordered by different people over many years. I need to find the quickest and best tool to do this with. Any suggestions would be great.

How do i target keywords locally
I am working for a cosmetic surgeon with clinics in three geographic places. I would like to give him specific keywords that he can go after successfully. When I use the keyword tool with terms like botox cosmetic staten island or breast augmentation tarrytown, I get competitive rankings like 36% or 37%, but it doesnt tell me if there are only a few searchers doing this per month. In Google's Adwords tool, it thinks that the number fo searchers with these same terms is too small to measure, literally giving me back a dash (= insignificant traffic). However, it I use Google Adwords with more general terms, say breast augmentation surgeon, and get a medium/110 global monthly searches, when I come back to SEOmoz tool and assess the same keyword, I find that the traffic picks up doctor sites in Arizona and elsewhere, where clearly no one who wants cosmetic surgery in new York is going to fly to Arizona for it. So, how do I ensure a balance between targeting too little traffic but including the names of specific towns, and targetting more general terms but not having local prospects. Has anyone tackled this in a specific medical niche?

Why Doesn't Open Site Explorer show Domain Links from Twitter, WordPress or Feedburner?
I commented on a few blog posts and wanted to see the domain authority of those sites. When I look at our domain links, I notice the links are not there from the blogs (which I now know I have to give it time to show up). But I also noticed that domains with links to our website (regularly) were not showing up either. i .e Twitter, WordPress and Feedburner. I know we have links in these locations, especially Twitter. Why would these domains not show up? Much thanks!

What is the quickest way to get OSE data for many URLs all at once?
I have over 400 URLs in a spreadsheet and I would like to get Open Site Explorer data (domain/page authority/trust etc) for each URL. Would I use the Linkscape API to do this quickly (ie not manually entering every single site into OSE)? Or is there something in OSE or a tool I am overlooking? And whatever the best process is, can you give a brief overview? Thanks!! -Dan

Group by domain broken in OSE?
When trying to browse the results using the "group by domain" filter in OSE, when you click on the next page or one of the page numbers the results go back to the ungrouped list.
