Google not displaying my page title and meta description

Google is automatically picking up random text from my page and displaying it in place of the page title and meta description on the SERP. What can I do to avoid this? I want my page title and meta description to show up on the SERP.

For starters, I'd add the NOODP NOYDIR meta robots tags to your pages. That tends to do a pretty good job of keeping Google in line (i.e. using your meta descriptions and page titles in the SERPs).
Recently I've noticed that Google will often attempt to extract your company name and prepend your page title with it. e.g. if your page title is "Purple Widgets - ACME Inc." and your URL is www.acmeinc.com, Google will show "Acmeinc: Purple Widgets" in the SERPs for your headline. This seems to be new as of a few months ago, and NOODP NOYDIR doesn't seem to stop it like it used to. But I'd try NOODP NOYDIR because it does USUALLY still seem to have the effect you're looking for.

What description are you seeing, are you able to send an screenshot.
Also when did you set up your meta description etc, is it a recent change or has it been there a while.
I can see that you have set up Meta descriptions etc correctly.

Use of '&' in meta title
Hi, I know that use of '&' would be helpful to save space and also add more keyword variation to the title tag. But just want to make sure if it matters if I use '&' in most of my title tags? And also is it common to use more than & in one title? Would the following title be different in Google's perspective regardless of the title length? Anyone knows why our meta deta are not displayed properly ?
Hello For some reasons our home description does not appear properly https://www.google.com/search?q=joomgeek&qscrl=1&gws_rd=ssl it looks like this http://awesomescreenshot.com/05c3n5fg65 I've resubmit my sitemap to G webmaster Tools and it still the same. However when I bing it I see the proper one. What can be wrong ?

Blank Title and Description Tags
Hi guys. Some times web platforms that I do work on have pages that I normally do not optimize. They more often than not have blank meta titles and meta descriptions. If I put titles and descriptions on these pages, no matter how minor, would it help the site as a whole to rank better? Thanks!

Page Analysis - Helping Product Pages Outrank Search Results Pages
Hi! We have a lot of our search results pages that have been indexed and outrank our product pages and in some instance the actual product pages barely show up at all. Here is an example query that includes our brand name: http://goo.gl/cgB6W So, we have loads of actual product pages, video pages, etc that should be showing up here, but are not and this is just one example. Unfortunately, there are a LOT of these Search Results pages out there and utlimately we would love to de-index them altogether, but it's going to have to be carefully done. So, was wondering if anyone would want to check out one of our product pages and give any feedback as to what we could change to possibly improve rank or to make them more search friendly or hopefully to help them rise above these indexed search results pages? Can you change meta description at any time without loosing rankings?
I'm wondering if it is possible to change the meta description of a page on your site at any time without it affecting rankings on google? Is it only changing how my SERP looks? Or could bad things happen to changing your meta description? Appreciate all opinions on this one, thank you guys!

Meta Description not displaying in Google
Hi Mozzers, I have a client that wants to change the way the meta description for some of his pages is being displayed. I've tried using the NOOPD and NOYDIR tags and its not worked. This isn't the client but perform this search in Google.ie - "accommodation newry daft" you get this result - http://www.google.ie/#hl=en&sclient=psy-ab&q=accommodation+newry+daft&pbx=1&oq=accommodation+newry+daft&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=11197l11712l2l12016l5l5l0l0l0l0l186l851l0.5l5l0&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=f5c640577bb5a285&biw=1600&bih=775 See how Daft.com (2nd results down) has the text "10+ items" in the description- my client has this as well as do many other competitors but its not present in the meta description tag. Anyone know how to get rid of this and get the good old meta descrition in the SERPs? Thanks BUsh

Does keyword at the very front of meta description have impact?
I know that it is important to have your primary keyword target as the first word or two words of your title tag. But what about your meta description tag? does it matter where they keyword is in the description tag? I see a lot of other sites stuffing their keywords right at the front of the description tag and it looks somewhat unnatural. What's your take? do you put the primary keyword as the first word or two words of your description tag?
