Link Building On a Budget
-
Hello!
We are a small online business with a tight budget. Most of the content, social, ppc is done in-house to keep things under control & cost down. Can anyone suggest a local or offshore link building agency that we can trust or that someone else has used with good success? Some of the local agencies we've contacted quoted us 150-200/mth per keyword, is that typical? Has anyone been successful with agencies overseas?
Thank You!!

If i was you i would consult with a company face to face before hiring and also see if you can do some things on your own. Social media and blogging is something that someone in house can do and they also have first hand knowledge of the business.

I've never hired a link builder and don't have direct experience in this. I can just say get as educated as possible before hiring anyone.

I get a ton of emails every day from people overseas, and even some domestic, offering me SEO services. I ask them to optimize our About Us page, and include a screenshot of http://www.strikemodels.com/about-us/ with
If you contact us with offers to help with the website design or optimization, you will receive a screenshot of this very statement. If we’re in a bad mood, you’re likely to get the spelling and grammar in your proposal picked apart, and glaring errors in your website pointed out (for the 10% of you that aren’t using a disposable gmail address).
highlighted in red. I either hear nothing, or will often get a response that they would be happy to help optimize that page, not even having looked at the image.
I wouldn't trust them, personally, without extensive vetting...and that time and effort would probably be better spent on you yourself making the connections that can lead to links.

Hi Keri! Most of the keywords are sports teams and concert performers so the are 80-90% are in the med to high. Sorry I should have been more clear.
-
That's similar to "how long is a piece of string". If your keywords are sex, drugs, and lawsuit, it's going to be way higher than if you're looking for waterproof sail winch servos, georgetown gallery antique mahogany furniture, and lompoc high school yearbook.
-
What should be we paying per mth having 10-20 keywords?
-
Avoid at all costs. Having talked with many SEO I'd say that is extremely low, something's fishy. I agree with Spencer, $1,000/mo would be really low. $200/mo reeks of spam. Most agencies charge $100-$200 an hour. Good content is what you need, and that takes time, NOT random link building. A new person looking to make a name for himself you might, and I mean might, find for $40 or $50 an hour, but you get what you pay for.
-
I would be wary of most services that are charging under ~$1000 a month total, not necessarily on a keyword basis. I would also highly advise against using an overseas agency, you're more likely to get screwed than to get a good deal in my experience. I would suggest checking out Moz's recommended agencies or agencies that are active on Moz and other SEO related blogs/news sites.
This is definitely tough because you are an online business, which generally means more competition. Hopefully you're in a fairly specific niche that isn't super competitive.
Good Luck!

We are actually trying to rank nationally on some of they keywords, I've found some of the longer tail keywords drive a good volume of traffic and comp. is not that high. Have you personally worked with anyone overseas? Can they be trusted if they know exactly what we are looking for? I wouldn't even know where to start. I know a large number of the agencies here outsource overseas.
-
I'd be wary of that - many will just employ old school link building tactics that may hurt your rankings more than help. I'd ask them to share exactly how they plan to build links and to provide some samples.
I'm going to assume that you are in a low-competition area (otherwise you'll have a tough time competing on that budget) in which case you can just do on-page optimization + use a service like getlisted.org. Many times, just having complete and consistent information across all of the major local directories is enough to get you ranking locally.

Building Links for an E-Waste Recycling Business
Hi everyone. I was wondering how I could build a solid link profile for an e-waste recycling business. Should I try to get links from local government bodies, the better business bureau, and the chamber of commerce? How have people done this before? I must also note that my business doesn't have a physical location per se in every city, but will travel to a client instead. Thanks!

Is tiered link building a good thing?
I think that I have watched all the webinairs and online courses available on the web, but I still don't seem to know how and where to get links from. I know what type of links I should be getting and what type I should be avoiding, but that little luck so far. I came across the website of Matthew Woodward about tiered link building where he explains how to do this type of link building in depth. It seems quite interesting but also a lot of work so I don't want to invest my precious time in something that will be penalised by Google in the near future. Is there anyone that can give me some reason why I should or shouldn't do this?

Link building - am I too cautious?
The only backlink building I am doing is guest blogging as it seems most other methods have potential to harm rankings in the post panda/penguin era. As mentioned in another post I'm trying to get a strategy for social media that works as I believe social likes/shares are important. What other link building methods can I use that are totally safe? Is it okay to 'buy' a link on botw r examleas theyre editorally reviewed? I'm asking myself 2 questions when acquiring limks. 1. Would I want this link if google didn't exist and 2. Will it bring me relevant traffic. I'm almost scared of link building in case google punishes me. Are there any legitimate methods I'm missing?

Got a link building question here
I've been doing a lot of back link analysis on my competitors and noticed that a lot of links are coming from wordpress.com, blog.com, blogspot.com, etc blogs. These are free blogs in the format of http://www.username.blogplatform.com. These individual blogs seem to have product reviews and mentions for many different products (we are an e-commerce website). I would like to know if anyone has done any outreach to the owners of the third party blogs. This looks very different from guest blogging and I want to know if there is a way to reach out to these blog owners in order for them to write something about our products. Please let me know if anyone had any success with this, Thank you

Link Building with Widdgets and Tools
Hi, We run a affiliate program and as part of that program we offer free tools that our affiliates can take in order to help them promote our product. We have also used these tools as a link building method as we provide highly useful information. We have seen on Google Link Schemes page (http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=66356) the following part which we believe has only just been added: Links embedded in widgets that are distributed across various sites, for example: Visitors to this page: 1,472

car insurance Our tool basically consists of a link of JavaScript with a link outside of the tool as per the following example: this super widget was provided by <a>mydomain.com</a> We are now concerned that a link building process that we have used for many years is now considered to be gaming Google. We also do something similar with badges that we give out to approved suppliers. These would look something like the following: Approved Supplier http://mydomain.co.uk/ Any recommendations on whether or not the style we are using would now be considered as wrong to Google, even though they add value to our partners sites. Thanks for any help in advance.0 -
