Is it ok to redirect an old URL to new URL with anchor tag?
-
Ex.
OLD URL - http://www.mysite.com/shoes/red/description
NEW URL - http://www.mysite.com/shoes/red#desc
Thanks in advance!
-
Yes, this will be totally fine. Google ignores bookmarks (#) like this, so Google will just see a redirect from http://www.mysite.com/shoes/red/description to http://www.mysite.com/shoes/red#desc.
Good luck!
Kristina

Hi Richard,
Yes, you're right.
-
The page in this case is /red, the #desc is a bookmark on the page.
-
Yes. 301 redirection.
-
You mean do a 301 redirect with a #?
I have never tried it, if it works I don't think it will be a problem. Both a 301 and a link both end up as a request for a page, so if its ok for one it will be ok for the other.
Unless search engines have written some code to treat them different and I cant see why they would, technically speaking they will be treated the same, it is after all simply a request

Should I Redirect Pagination?
Working on a redirect map for a client moving platforms and they have all of their category pagination indexed - no canonical link and no rel next/prev's on any of them. Should I redirect the pagination pages to the main category page on the new platform? Or Should I allow the pagination to de-index itself type of thing? Thoughts and experience?

New more "helpful" internal linking causing SERP & traffic drop?
Still dealing with the weird traffic drop on my website. I have removed a bunch of old links from a defunct blog, 301 thin pages, added text to remaining pages. I'm still stumped. So awhile ago I freshened up my website and thought I was "helping people" by making sure they could CONTACT the studio more easily... I added more links to the "contact page" I thought this would help conversions...This changed the number of links to my entire site....Would this be the problem with my ranking/traffic drop? http://bayareaboudoir.com/babinternal1.pdf

Implementing a new Nav Bar: Best practice, SEO benefit, your suggestions?
Hi Mozland, We are going to have a new Nav Bar for our site built from the horror that we currently have to up with. We want to make it a simple affair, similar to The Guardian two-tier Nav Bar - main menu which will drop down to the 2nd tier according to what you clicked on in tier one. Regular stuff, I think. Any suggestions, from your experience, about how best to implement this, what to include, what not to do, what can be included and done to make it as best it can be to get people to peruse our site as easily as possible? Thanks

SEOMoz crawl report shows a duplicate content and duplicate title for these two url's http://freightmonster.com/ and http://freightmonster.com/index.html. How do I fix this?
What page is attached to http://freightmonster.com/ if it is not the index.html ? Should I do a redirect from the index page to something more descriptive?
