Canonical and Rel=next/prev Implementation
-
Hi,
I have an ecommerce site that allows users to view numerous pages and sort by a number of options on categories. I've read numerous posts around my issue but am still a little confused on what is best practice with regards to the canonical tag and rel=next and prev. Below is an example of the various page/sort by URL's:
Paginated URL: http://www.example.co.uk/category/subcategory.html?p=3
Sort by URL: http://www.example.co.uk/category/subcategory.html?dir=desc&order=price
Paginated & Sort by URL: http://www.example.co.uk/category/subcategory.html?dir=desc&order=price&p=3
It is not viable for us to use a canonical tag to the view all page as some of the categories contain a large number of products and therefore would not have the best load speeds. Is it best to use the below structure when it comes to the canonical tag and rel=next and prev?
Paginated URL: http://www.example.co.uk/category/subcategory.html?p=3
Sort by URL: http://www.example.co.uk/category/subcategory.html?dir=desc&order=price
Paginated & Sort by URL: http://www.example.co.uk/category/subcategory.html?dir=desc&order=price&p=3
http://www.example.co.uk/category/subcategory.html?dir=desc&order=price&p=2" />
Thanks

Looks good to me as well, just as a tip. Don't forget to submit the parameters you're using in Google Webmaster Tools. In the menu item: URL Parameters are you able to configure if content changes with a certain parameter. It helps Google to understand your URL structure better.

Looks like you got it right according to Google (as seen towards the end of this page) : http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com.au/2011/09/pagination-with-relnext-and-relprev.html

Links / Metadata around Recent Posts etc in Wordpress / Blog - Good SEO Practice?
Hello In a Wordpress blog ( or part of an ecommerce site that runs under wordpress ) it is good to show recent posts in the sidebar on most pages. Obviously the posts aren't going to be relevant to every post , so my questions are: Is having these on the page hurting SEO for the page? Is there good metadata structure to put in there? ( like rel="nofollow" or similar ) Thoughts?

Next Gen Gallery Crawler Problem
I use the Next gen gallery plugin on my wordpress sites. The moz crawler reports a ton of high importance issues with this plugin because it creates duplicate pages It will have domain.com/page, domain.com/page/gallery, domain.com/page/gallery/1/, domain.com/page/gallery/2/ This is a pretty popular plugin so I am hoping there is some way of fixing this relatively easy. I can imagine i need to set up a rel canonical but there does not seem to be an easy way to do so. Thoughts?

Rel="canonical" and rel="alternate" both necessary?
We are fighting some duplicate content issues across multiple domains. We have a few magento stores that have different country codes. For example: domain.com and domain.ca, domain.com is the "main" domain. We have set up different rel="alternative codes like: The question is, do we need to add custom rel="canonical" tags to domain.ca that points to domain.com? For example for domain.ca/product.html to point to: Also how far does rel="canonical" follow? For example if we have:

domain.ca/sub/product.html canonical to domain.com/sub/product.html
then,
domain.com/sub/product.html canonical to domain.com/product.html0 -

How Long Does it Take for Rel Canonical to De-Index / Re-Index a Page?
Hi Mozzers, We have 2 e-commerce websites, Website A and Website B, sharing thousands of pages with duplicate product descriptions. Currently only the product pages on Website B are indexing, and we want Website A indexed instead. We added the rel canonical tag on each of Website B's product pages with a link towards the matching product on Page A. How long until Website B gets de-indexed and Website A gets indexed instead? Did we add the rel canonical tag correctly? Thanks!

Page not showing up on Bing/Yahoo
We have a page that's ranking well on Google, however the page is not showing up in either Yahoo or Bing. What's even more odd is that for Y! and Bing, the page doesn't return in SERP even when you explicitly search for it (e.g. homepage + name of page). Instead, the result that gets returned is our homepage along with a Page Title that's been manipulated to include the keywords, but the title is not what we have in our title tag. Bing processed our sitemap today and I also manually submitted the URL, but it's still not turning up. Any thoughts?
