Keywords on Title Tag and Meta Description?
-
I have question regarding the use of keywords on title tag and meta description. I will take my website as example...
- Title Tag: Web Design Company & Digital Marketing Agency in Jakarta
- Meta Description: Coriate is a full-service website design & Internet marketing firm in Indonesia. We offer the best web solutions and SEO service in the industry.
My questions:
- Is it good? Because I followed Blue Fountain Media. They don't use same keyword on title tag and meta description. You can see on title tag I use "web design" while on meta description I use "website design". Or should I use "web design" on meta description too?
- Blue Fountain Media doesn't use their company name on title tag. But when I search "Blue Fountain Media" on Google, it only showed their company name. How? Their title tag was "Website Design Company & Digital Marketing Agency in NYC | BFM".
- Is it necessary to use H1? Because as you can see on my company website Coriate there's no H1.
-
1. So I guess I'm okay with it, right? It is okay to use different term and do not repeat keyword on title tag and meta description.
Yes
2. Title tag or meta description? Because on your response, you bold "Blue Fountain Media" on meta description. I have my company name Cordate on meta description. So should be okay right?
I would use the company name in the Title tag of the home page. But yes you will be okay with it in the meta description.
- So what do you suggest? Should I edit the text on the slider so it becomes H1? But the thing is it is sliding. Is it okay for SEO? Or should I add H1 before slider or just remove the slider?
Yes (I don't like sliders but partly for that reason) if you are going to use a slider add a H1 make sure its stays the same

This is the best slider if you ask me Soliloquy if you are going to use one.
All the best,
Tom

Thank you for your response! So in summary...

in the description I would recommend writing it so that the reader gets the best idea of what you offer and services. To me web design and website design a the same thing however you might gain something by using different term that is still extremely relevant to what you offer as a company.
The description is for people and you have to consider that most people will understand that web designed & website design would consider them the same if not identical.
You write the description for the viewer/visitor like you do everything in search

here is some information as to why you are getting that result.
The Google blog post describes key attributes of what Google considers making a good meta description, factors its says may increase the odds that your meta description tag will get used. They include:
- Unique meta descriptions on each page of your site
- Show facts about the content on the page that are not represented in the title
- Make the description easy to read
- Dynamic sites can dynamically generate descriptive meta descriptions easily
- Make sure your descriptions are quality and represent the content on the page

I would include the company's in the homepage title tag
The reason Google comes back with blue fountain media as a result is it is in the content from the website more importantly it is in the description. along with Google changing the results to better suit the search query. So when somebody searches "blue fountain media" and the URL , site content along with the description contain the term searched for it is going to return that to the person who queried it as a top result because for this particular term it is the most relevant result

titles length, URL length and meta descriptions on a subdomain effecting SEO on main domain?
Hi all, I am currently evaluating areas for optimization on my main domain. When doing this, Moz has identified multiple titles and urls that should be shortened and missing meta descriptions on my subdomain (a help center of sorts). As far as I am aware, we have not set up any "no-index" rules for this subdomain. Are these items affecting SEO on my main domain? Thanks,

Generating Dynamic Meta Titles for SEO - Advice?
Hi, I'm working with a new client that works with a lot of suppliers and they want to have their titles built in a specific way. If I generate a template (so to speak) will generating dynamic meta titles have a negative effect on their SEO and is this even possible? If so, what would be the best way to handle this? There is approximately 100 suppliers. Any feedback/advice is appreciated!

How to add meta descriptions in WordPress
Hello, I have a WordPress website in which the front page is built entirely with text widgets. How would I add key words and meta descriptions. Yoast does not give an option for this and it seems WordPress does not support meta descriptions. Anyone have ideas? The website is championfitprogram.com

IMG ALT tags - should they be the same or the product title?
I have about 300 products. Should I make all my IMG ALT tags with my keywords, such as sea glass jewelry, sea glass necklace, sea glass bracelets? Or, should I make them what their title is, some of which do not pertain to the keyword, such as By the Sea. Some of my products do have keywords in them, but not all. I am hesitant on changing all the titles, as almost all URLs are indexed.

Different Categories, Same Meta Description?
I've heard that having duplicate meta descriptions is bad for SEO and can even be the cause of penalties. However, a duplicate meta description would make sense for different categories on many sites. So I'm wondering what the best solution is for a case like this? One of my sites has around 150 topics, and each topic page is exactly the same, aside from including only things that are related to that specific topic. So why would I want to create 150 different meta descriptions? Not only is it time consuming, and nearly impossible to create 150 unique descriptions for the same type of content, but it also serves no purpose for visitors coming from the search engines. A logical approach would be to use the same meta description and just switch out the topics in the description... but then all of those descriptions would be 95% the same - and I imagine Google might see that as spam. So... suggestions?

Colons and commas in title tags instead of hyphens and pipes ?
Hi In light of Google changing display of title tag from character limit to pixel limit does it make sense to swap some uses of pipes and hyphens with colons and commas ? For example: Category: Keyword, Keyword, Keyword | Brand Instead of: Category - Keyword - Keyword - Keyword | Brand I seem to remember hearing bad things about colons in title tags but think that was just in regard to when used multiple times. Surely ok to use once if in logical format ? Cheers Dan

Does keyword at the very front of meta description have impact?
I know that it is important to have your primary keyword target as the first word or two words of your title tag. But what about your meta description tag? does it matter where they keyword is in the description tag? I see a lot of other sites stuffing their keywords right at the front of the description tag and it looks somewhat unnatural. What's your take? do you put the primary keyword as the first word or two words of your description tag?
