Its posible to use Google Authorship in an online shop?
-
Today I installed Google Authorship in my Wordpress Blog and I would like to know if its posible to implement it in my Opencart online shop.
I am not interested in rich snippets because I have 9k of products and the 90% of them dont have sells nor reviews
-
Just a point here as I just ran into this thread on the "Bounty" QNA section. Google dropped authorship pictures just about the time this thread started, so being more visual will not have the same impact it once had
Honestly, I agree with EGOL, I think using authorship as a tactic on product pages when there is really nothing that you authored. That just sounds like an approach that will get you penalized down the road.
-
Wouldn't be worth doing, as it could have the opposite effect of what you are wanting. Instead install a markup plugin for opencart like this one.
I understand you don't have a lot of reviews, but if you can get the images of your products showing up, or even any kind of product data to make your links in the SERP stand out more, it couldnt hurt

I agree with Prestashop.
These will probably be skimpy pages. Matt Cutts recently said that authors with low quality content could see that work to their disadvantage.
-
It can be done yes, but it would not have a good effect. The reason being is that authorship was meant for articles and good content, not for just general content like thousands of product descriptions. Also, this is not the correct use of authorship, this is something that you would use publisher for instead.
If you ever had decided to blog or post articles any where else, you would be hurt as well. From the best that everyone understands right now Google ranks authors by the content and the sites they write on. Having loads of low quality content like the product pages will drive your authorship ranking in the ground and hurt the ranking of your blog posts I would bet.
As for the rich snippets, you can have product snippets without the review. I also would like to point out since open cart is template based all you have to do is add the snippets to the template page and it will work on all of the products.
-
Well, you said you didn't care about the richt snippets ;-). You've also read this: searchengineland.com/google-plays-authorship-search-results-dropping-profile-image-google-circle-count-195163 ?
-
Hi, its an advantage because I'll be more visual than my competitors and I'll get some traffic.
How could I do it? thank you very much for your reply
-
Of course it would be possible, but how do you see it as an advantage to the shop? The products don't have an author, right? So that would result in not using authorship for attributing post content to an author.

What if i dont use an H1, but rather, h2 with multiple keywords.
the reason i dont want to use h1 is because i can have only one h1, however if i use several h2s. is it gonna help me rank? bacause google likes h1 more than h2, is google gonna give more priority or same priority to h2., and if that priority is gonna be less, what will be the percentage of that lessness? for ex: h1 gets 90 score if my h1 is missing how much score my h2 will get out of hundred(i know there is no such metric but i am just wondering anyways)

The use of a ghost site for SEO purposes
Hi Guys, Have just taken on a new client (.co.uk domain) and during our research have identified they also have a .com domain which is a replica of the existing site but all links lead to the .co.uk domain. As a result of this, the .com replica is pushing 5,000,000+ links to the .co.uk site. After speaking to the client, it appears they were approached by a company who said that they could get the .com site ranking for local search queries and then push all that traffic to .co.uk. From analytics we can see that very little referrer traffic is coming from the .com. It sounds remarkably dodgy to us - surely the duplicate site is an issue anyway for obvious reasons, these links could also be deemed as being created for SEO gain? Does anyone have any experience of this as a tactic? Thanks, Dan

301 redirects for 3 top level domains using WP SEO Yoast
Hey Guys I have a custom built website - and a wp blog attached to this - problem is there are 3 top level domains: zenory.co.nz, zenory.com and zenory.com.au **The issue is when I enter the domain to 301 redirect I only have to enter one domain usually i enter redirect from zenory.com/blog/oldpage to zenory.com.newpage ** For eg: I have just move Phone Psychic Readings from the blog - over to the main site. However there seems to be an issue that I'm still having and trying to clean up. I'm finding backlinks there are linking to each other of my 3 domains that end up backlinking across domains, which I was told this can look as spammy to google. For eg: co.nz links many pages to com.au. I'm currently trying to clean this up at the moment - however while im in the process of this - I find myself question when I'm creating the 301 redirects from the blog - but lets say I'm on the blog for zenoy.co.nz/blog/oldblogpost and when I click on a blog post - it redirects me to zenory.com/newarticlepost - because I have redirected it to .com - how can I redirect and make sure is going back to the right domain name to save myself from having to show this cross backlinks? Would gratefully appreciate any assistance on this tricky situation. Cheers Just

What sources do you use to keep on top of SEO news?
I want to try building an RSS feed of SEO news... but not wanting to find myself drowning in materials As such, looking for a short list of recommendations for keeping on top of SEO developments – the impetus is that I'm still discovering changes that happened 2, 3, even 5 years ago, and I want to try and catch these things as they happen. Thinking something actually from Google may be on the list, but some of these sources are pretty on top of things! Seroundtable.com also comes to mind. But what do you use to keep informed? Thanks 🙂

Link Building using Badges
In light of penguin update, is link building using badges(like "I love SEOMOZ" badge) still considered a white hat tactic? I have read old posts on SEOMOZ blog about this topic and wondering if this method is still effective. Look forward to feedback from MOZers.

How does Google rank a websites search queries
Hello, I can't seem to find an answer anywhere. I was wondering how a websites search query keyword string url can rank above other page results that have stronger backlinks. The domain is usually strong, but that url with the .php?search=keyword just seems like it doesn't fit in. How does Google index those search string pages? Is it based off of traffic alone to that url? Because those urls typically don't have backlinks, right? Has anyone tried to rank their websites search query urls ever? I'm just a little curious about it. Thanks everyone. Jesse

Is a directory like this white hat? Useful?
This is one of my competitor's backlinks: http://bit.ly/mMPhmn Prices for inclusion on this page go from $50 for 6 months to $300 for a permanent listing. Do most of you guys do paid directories like this for your SEO Clients? My gut is telling me to run away...but I don't want to miss a good opportunity if I should be taking it.
