1. Change the title tage to -
<title>Gastric Band Hypnotherapy expert offers Full Guaranteetitle> 2\. Change your URL from: www.clairehegarty.co.uk/virtual-gastric-band-with-hypnotherapy to www.clairehegarty.co.uk/gastric-band-hypnotherapy and make sure to 301 redirect the old URL to the new one. You would do this in your .htaccess file. Those two things would help a lot. Bear in mind this is simply a band-aid over deeper issues. I suggest reviewing the [beginners guide to seo](http://www.seomoz.org/beginners-guide-to-seo), trying out a tool like [this one](http://pro.seomoz.org/tools/on-page-keyword-optimization/new) and checking out some posts in the [on-site optimization category.](http://www.seomoz.org/blog/category/2) I understand your issue, and that it is not fun to see your page below a competitors, but you don't want to get too overly focused on the ranking, for a huge variety of factors. Focus on making your page as optimized and user friendly as possible. This means aligning the major page elements as suggested (title, url, header) and writing good text, based upon what's most easily digestible for the reader. -Dan

hi the reason why i have used other keywords such as hypno gastric band is for two reasons, one reason is that i have been told not to use the word gastric band hypnotherapy to many times but the trouble is i need to mention it with the topic i am talking about and the other reason is because i am explaining by what other names gastric band hypnotherapy is known by.
would it be possible to give me an example on what i am doing wrong and how i should do it and how many times should i mention gastric band hypnotherapy.
tha page is about getting people to visit the page to learn more about gastric band hypnotherapy and also to get on the phone. i have always been number one but as mentioned i then went to number three and number two with that website as mentioned being number one

I have not looked at the site, but yes, you can't talk about everything on one page. Move those other keywords to their own page. Good catch Dan!

I am fighting something similar in nature that I recently posted. They may have had an upsurge in inbound links, possibly with exact match anchor (even if someone is just linking using their URL, it is exact in this case).
a) Make sure your on-page is optimized (Title, URL, Copy)
b) get more inbound links with good anchor text. Some exact, some with variance.
c) get inbound links from other relevant sites. Sites primarily speaking to this niche.
d) make sure you are getting your social on. Get those Facebook shares and Twitter re-tweets.

Your page is too saturated with OTHER keywords and topics. It is not targeted enough towards the one topic you are trying to rank for. What the page needs is less of the off-topic content in the main elements (title, url, description, header, bold and internal links) to reveal the main topic you're trying to focus on.
Partially what I mean by "off-topic" is that you have many variations of your targeted phrase on the page: "hypo gastric band" "gastric band hypnosis" "virtual gastric band" are diluting the value of "gastric band hypnotherapy" - and they are all sort of competing for attention.
Whatever keyphrase you are trying to rank for, you want it to match exactly in the title, meta description, url and top header. This achieves a harmony between all of these elements, and then its ok to have variations of them appear naturally elsewhere in the body. But you want to focus those important elements with the exact keyphrase you're going for. This not only helps SEO but usability too.

thank you for this. i do not want to over run the page with the term gastric band hypnotherapy but at the same time i am talking about the subject so it seems hard that google does not like you to over use the word but at the same time how can i not over use it if i am talking about that topic

Hi
It would appear this is in part the case due to the exact match domain, title tag and header all being an exact match to the search term on your competitor's site. If you wanted to increase your chances of ranking better you would:
-
remove "leading" from the beginning of your title tag (most of the other websites above yours in google have an exact match at the front of their title tage),
-
have an exact match in the URL (remove the word "with" - if you do, don't forget to do a 301 redirect to the new page)
That is all from a technical standpoint, I'm not saying this is how you want want to approach your overall SEO and marketing strategy. I personally would not get too obsessed with one exact search, but rather optimize your site well for the user.
It also appears your page (and website in general) is overly saturated with other topics and keywords. Anytime you are trying to rank for a specific keyphrase, you want the content of that page to focus in exclusively on that topic as much as possible. The competitor's site may not be as authentic as yours, but it does a fairly decent job at staying on point to that one keyphrase.

Everyone sees examples like this above their sites. The reason is that google's rankings are done by a complex forumla.
The best thing to do is to work on beating it. Improve your content, get more links.

Google is simplifying my meta titles. What does it mean?
Hi Guys. I've noticed that google seems to be simplifying my meta titles in their SERP for some keyword searchs. Should I be worried about this? Perhaps a sign of being a little 'spammy' in my meta titles? Or is Google just aiming to bring up the most relevant looking result? Based on that specific search? Isaac.

How Does Google Treat External Links to URLs with # Anchors?
Here are two URLs to explain this example: **Original URL: **example.com/1/ **URL that points to anchor within the webpage above: **example.com/1/#anchor Does Google treat these two URLs as separate entities or the same? For example, does an external link to the anchor URL pass full PageRank value to the original URL? How does Google handle this? Is there anything negative about this situation? Are there any risks associated with links to the anchor URL? Finally, is it more valuable for an external link to point to the URL without an anchor?

For some strange reason Google is not showing site Meta Title when you search the website on Google. All it shows is the domain name in the meta title. However, when you search info:www.bollywoodshaadis.com it shows the right Meta tags. Any reason for this happening? I have never seen this before. Thank you in advance.

Google Algo Update In Que. What consititues over optimization?
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2401732,00.asp According to this, Google is bringing the hammer down soon on another 10-20% of the search results. While we don't advocate keyword stuffing, exchanging links, or anything too risky I am still concerned. Do we know if the example "perfectly optimized page"; http://www.seomoz.org/blog/perfecting-keyword-targeting-on-page-optimization is now going to be penalty bait? Is this over stuffing? Also, how might this effect ecommerce sites in particular?

How often do people use Google Product Search
I was was reading Tom Critchlow's excellent blog on how to rank well for Google Product Search. I'm trying to find out if there are stats on how often people use this feature in Google (since it is not listed on Google's main navigation). I'm working with a customer who has b-2-b products and am trying to determine the value of adjusting his ecommerce pages to appear on Google Product Search.

Was I Kicked Off Google Page One by Panda/Farmer?
Took over this site in March. Got a Panicked call from client Mid-March that all of a sudden keywords that put the site on Page One weren't working. There are still 9 that work, but apparently there were more. A large percentage of the backlinks are from Article Directories and Link Farms. Is this my problem? Also, a large percentage of the 149 pages suffer from keyword stuffing and were obviously written for Search Engines and not people. How much of a difference does that make?
