Flash and SEO
-
When I search the seomoz site for "flash and seo" I only see older articles, 2008. Is there anything newer you can point me to for a current discussion on the impact on SEO of flash sites?
-
I think Richard put it best. I will add that we have a small flash video on our site, but that's it. Everything from navigation, content, etc, is HTML based. From the SEOmoz conference in March we heard that things are pretty much the same: Google still doesn't do a great job with flash.

Google does try to spider Flash (or it did a few years ago) but it's not very optimal. What it does is look for text within the Flash file and pulls that out. The problem is, it ignores program code and lumps ALL text together. So if you have several pages of text in your Flash, you could wind up with one bulk content page instead of several content pages (which is bad SEO in general, let alone for end users)
Google doesn't execute code or read images. If you want to make sure Google indexes your content properly, offer an HTML only version.

Links I do not have at the moment, but here is what you need to consider.
a) is the Flash having to do with the content or navigation of the site, or just cool features not related.
a1) If so, does the Flash contain actual text which can be indexed by Google/Bing. If you just have images within your Flash, that will not help you much with SEO.
b) If your site is based on Flash, does it have an HTML equivalent?
c) Does your site rely on mobile browsing? iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch) does not support Flash.

Homepage Gateway for Website Divisions (Residential / Commercial) Bad for SEO?
When a website offers multiple divisions for products and services would it be a good SEO practice to implement something as Culligan does by having their homepage be a sort of gateway to the different divisions of site (home, office, commercial, industrial)? 2DaYz

Login to see more (some text hidden by CSS height and jquery) will it ruin SEO?
Hey SEO masters! I have a website that is smashing it for SEO in Australia. In an effort to increase a user base I want to make it so only logged in users can see all the content. So today, I launched a new feature hiding content using CSS 'height:' property. The content is obviously still there and if you were a developer you could easily 'inspect element' and remove that CSS style to see everything... There are a few other tweaks i made for logged out users, but that only affects some json. Question: will this affect my SEO rankings? Here is a direct example: https://www.fishingspots.com.au/s/perth if you sign up, there is about 1400words of content.

SEO Audit for site redesign
I'm in the process of preparing my company's ecommerce site for a redesign - largely to move to a responsive design and improve issues with UI and some much-needed features. This is a very small ecommerce business (Less than $300K annually), and we have settled on Magento Community Edition for our platform. We understand it to be very "SEO" friendly, and its similar to our current platform - it gives us a lot of flexibility in design, and it appears scalable. While I am aware of our current sites shortcomings (from an SEO standpoint), I was wondering if I should employ an SEO person/company to do a pre/post redesign audit. I looked at the MOZ checklist, and ran my site through Hubspot and WooRanks free tools, and am aware of what they are reporting as SEO items to be fixed. As I am so small, I was wondering if an SEO audit in addition to what I already know might be overkill? Any thoughts/suggestions are welcome.

What can this charity site do to improve SEO?
Hello wise ones, We have been working with the charity Volunteers of America to create a new site for their car donation program at carshelpingpeople.org They are a national charity with extensive local programs run by regional affiliates, so the site is divided into a small national section linked to Regional Affiliate sections. You get to the regional sections either by entering your zip code or clicking on your state in the bottom nav of the national pages. Right now we have developed regional sections for Michigan, Nevada, Maryland, Washington D.C., New Jersey, Delaware and the Philadelphia area. The site is about 2 1/2 months old, and while our conversion rate is pretty good (7%) our organic search ranking isn't improving as quickly as we'd like to see. Car donation is a very competitive space, and we would appreciate any advice on how to improve the SEO of the site. Thanks so much.

SEO to Drive Leads
Dear friends, I have clients asking for SEO to drive leads. I have no experience on it, how could I do that? Is there any web layout I can suggest to my client? Another question is how do I implemented the layout on the web structure? I usually structuring my website based on keywords. For example: Homepage niche: plumbing Category: london plumbing, plumbing service, etc Content: Finding London plumbing service in your area, what kind of plumbing service you should pay attention? So, based on these layout, my SEO efforts goes to the content, instead of the homepage. Now, the question is how do I increase conversion with these strategy? Is placing a form above the fold would be wise, then place the content below it. Please advice 🙂 Thanks for your kind support, Albertus
