Website view diffrent in Chrome than FireFox and IE
-
Hi everyone,
I have a quick question about our WordPress webpage InternetNearMe.com/xfinity-Internet. The site is still a work in progress, but I'm starting to notice that when viewing the page in FireFox or Internet explorer, there is a large white space at the top of the page that is not there when you view it in Chrome. This is most likely because we used to have two graphics in that space that we have since removed. I cleared the Cache hoping that would solve problem but it has not. i've included screenshots of the different browsers below. Any suggestions?
Thank you!
CHROME

It looks like there are two issues.
The first issue is that Firefox and Chrome are treating the padding differently. Firefox is padding from the bottom of the text of the navigation whereas chrome is padding from the top of the containing div.
The second issue is that your site appears to be adding hardcoded css via javascript which is why you don't see that style in the source code. It's being added by a script executed in the browser after the site is loaded.

I was using the DOM inspector in Firefox (right click on the empty area to bring it up).

Thanks for the response Linda! I looked in the source code and didn't see this padding. Would you be able to tell me what you were using to find this?
Thanks again for the reponse Linda! I really appreciate it

You have 191px of padding on top of your div "inner-page-wrap has-no-sidebar clearfix", with the grey box and photo of three people in it. Eliminating that will eliminate whitespace above it.

Is minor duplicate content on my website okay?
I know duplicate content across multiple websites is not a good thing, however I've always wondered about minor duplicate content on your own website. I know its good practice to have unique content on each page but what about the little stuff. For example on our website certain related pages share the same content in a right sidebar. Such as links to pdf leaflets, or "you can read our blog etc" . Is there a minimum number of repeated words required before its flagged as duplicate content? Another example is a customer gave two testimonials for two of our employees - the testimonials were identical other than the employee names - if these were posted on separate pages is it a problem for the site as a whole or for both those individual pages? Thanks

Why is my website not showing up in a specific, very uncompetitive niche?
My website just went live about 3-4 weeks ago and while it has been indexed by Google-it shows up when I do a search for my site's name, it does not show up for the keyword terms it has been optimized for. This is a very specific, non-competitive niche-so I just can't imagine why it would not be showing for these non-competitive keyword term searches? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks

Corporate Re-Branding, How to best lead into new website?
I have a company that is going to be moving away from a name they have had for 40 years, into a name they have had for the past 10. They are becoming a bigger brand in Canada and want to move away from the west coast name. http://www.wcmachinery.net/ is becoming obsolete. http://shearforce.ca/ will be taking over for both sites. Both of the websites are identically built by a previous web company. The current root domain metrics are shown in the image provided. What do you Mozzers feel would be the best way to phase out the old site without losing the little bit of domain authority wcmachinery.net has gained? west coast machinery is also well know to its customers, so getting the branded search traffic to the shearforce site is also a priority. I am fairly certain this can be handled easily in the about page where it explains the relationship between the two companies. As a side note I have not performed any SEO work on either site as of yet. So please do not judge me based on this site! Thanks for your insights, Randy edit edit

View all Page for Product Overview Pages
Hi everybody! We have an ecommerce site with product overview pages, where sometimes there are hundreds of products listed. Usually, we just display 30 and have a button where users can click to see 30 more - or all products listed at once. This is the overview page (as indexed in google): http://www.geschenkidee.ch/aussergewoehnliches.html

And this is the view-all page: http://www.geschenkidee.ch/aussergewoehnliches.html#all What should I do here? The product overview page will hardly generate more traffic by listing all products (because the overview page will rank for generic keywords, while the product keyword searches will be referred to the specific product pages themselves). I was originally thinking of using rel=canonical pointing to the view-all page. But this would just lead to longer load time. Should we just leave those overview pages or is there a best practice for how to deal with such pages? Thanks for your thoughts on this!0 -
My website is saying I have duplicate page content and page title. How do I fix it?
Hi, I created a website on webstarts.com. After I launched it then ran a scan through SEO it says I have duplicate page content and page title. The 2 pages it is reading are technically the same page. www.mobilemowermedicsinc.com and www.mobilemowermedicsinc.com/index . I am unsure how to get rid of on of these as it keeps saying this is an error in the SEO scan. Could someone please advise me of what to do from here. Thanks!
