Hosted in the Cloud, my URL is a .com how can I rank in UK SERPS?
-
Hi Mozzers, I have found an e-commerce SAS solution (USA based) that hosts its platform in the Cloud. Unfortunately my domain is a ,com but I wish to rank & sell within the UK.
I realise I can select the UK parameters within GWT, but I am led to believe that this isnt hugely effective.
Other than choosing another eCommerce platform, could anyone please assist me in identifying a solution?
Thank you in advance.

Get listed in the local UK directories. i.e.- Yelp.co.uk
-
I would hold off on that and see how the rest of the SEO efforts goes first.

Thanks for the prompt responses guys. I have set up my local listings (phew) would it be prudent to add some location data in a schema.org product desc?
-
I presume your hosting company will not provide you with a UK TLD.
Then go with what Ryan posted and make sure you location is clear. Also, grab those UK inbound links!! Also Google Places, and I think Google Webmaster has the ability to set location.

Do you have an office in the UK? If so, make sure you get a local listing for it and have that location listed on your pages.
Do you wish to only sell in the UK? If so, include your target market in your pages throughout your site. Instead of having a page title of "Widgets" you can use "London Widgets" or whatever term you feel will apply to your target audience.

Sudden drop in ranking google.co.uk ranking
Anyone else had any sudden drops in rankings this week? Is there an update going on? One of my primary keywords has dropped from 6th to 49th in the google.co.uk search results. Not in webmaster tools to flag an issue. I have downloaded the links from webmaster and it does look if some content has been scraped and then linked back to us from a large number of sites that we have never sort links from. I have upload the google disavow link tool. Only one keyword appears to be effected not all of them? Any ideas? Thanks

How best to deal with www.home.com and www.home.com/index.html
Firstly, this is for an .asp site - and all my usual ways of fixing this (e.g. via htaccess) don't seem to work. I'm working on a site which has www.home.com and www.home.com/index.html - both URL's resolve to the same page/content. If I simply drop a rel canonical into the page, will this solve my dupe content woes? The canonical tag would then appear in both www.home.com and www.home.com/index.html cases. If the above is Ok, which version should I be going with? - or - Thanks in advance folks,
