Livestreaming Events
-
Hello Moz Friends,
I'm curious to know what my fellow Mozzers are using (in-house or outsourced) for live streaming events. Our transit agency is hosting a public event at a convention center and we'd like to stream it online for those unable to attend and to have it available for sharing on social. I've done some initial recon as far a using Google Hangouts + YouTube, Livestream and the like. Is it possible to broadcast a quality video stream online in-house or is it better to outsource so I can focus on live-tweeting and other social outreach before, during and after the event? Your thoughts, please!
Much thanks,
Laurel McJannet, Community Transit Online Content Specialist

Hi Laurel,
It really depends on the quality you want of the live stream. It can be incredibly difficult to get a great live stream for a high-quality event. That is the primary reason that we don't do live streams for MozCon is because we'd greatly have to up our budget and amount of a/v people to keep the MozCon-quality.
You also want to take in consideration of how many people are there and how big the room is. What kind of experience do you want to have? Who are they paying attention to? For small events, Usestream or even a G+ hangout/event can work well. You'll get the best audio and video if there's a microphone plugged in to the live streaming system and a video camera focused directly where you need it to be.
I'm a big fan of outsourcing the a/v and bringing in a professional. Especially since it sounds like you have lots of other things on your plate. Taking care of a/v is a full-time job at an event.

I am a massive fan of Ustream ( http://www.ustream.tv/) - I have been on both ends as a content provider and I use the service to watch a lot of streaming iPPV events. I've never had an issue with the video quality of the streams & the software is very simple to use.

Hi Laurel,
I don't have an answer for your question, but I think you must be the one I often tweet with on Twitter when I tweet the Community Transit account. Good to see you in Q&A here at Moz!
I'll ask Erica from our team to chime in, as she may have some better advice (she does our webinars, and a lot of the work for MozCon).

Facebook won't show up in SERP
Hello! One of my clients' Facebook page isn't showing up on the SERP, even when you search "CLIENT NAME facebook" or an excerpt from a live post. Our social media team looked over all the settings in Meta, and everything looks correct, so we are stumped. Anyone encounter this before?

Does Facebook Messages count as a social signal factor?
Hi, We know that social signals are usually referred to as a webpage's collective likes, comments or shares. But what about the Facebook messages generated from the messenger plugin on a web page? Especially on a business page, if one business page receives hundreds of Facebook messages through a landing page or blog page, does that count as social shares? And how effective is social signals are for a website in 2020? Although social engagement is always good for any website, my question is, how logical is it to purchase "social signal gigs" from konker or Fiverr or other gig markets? We run a social media marketing company in Australia, our website: https://www.playchat.com.au and we get a lot of messages every day through the messenger add on from our home page. Will that make any difference whatsoever? Looking forward to hearing from you. I appreciate any help you can provide.

Facebook Integration and Keyword Density
Hope everyone is doing well! Long story short, we have been getting a lot of customer testimonials. We started putting them on Facebook and then we decided to start adding more details into the articles section of the site. The problem is many of our customers do not go to the articles section or the FB page. We purchased a plugin to integrate most recent Facebook posts into our website. We were going to use it on our homepage as well as our top category pages. I always run content changes through the MOZ scoring utility. After integration into the home page it dropped my score from a 99 to a 91. The first issue is consistent.... to many links... the second issue we got Rand's WTH are you doing face with a warning that we are stuffing keywords.... Not our intent, but the FB posts do have keywords in them. So for now we are testing the integration on just our garage floor tile category page but I am wondering the following: 1. In general does this type of utility improve UX 2. Does Google make some concession for 'keyword stuffing' when it is because of social media posts being displayed on the page? 3. Given that we post daily, does the 'fresh content' outweigh the increased keyword density. We are ranking top 10 for several major national keywords and we don't want to screw that up. But we want to continue to improve our layout and UX

Can Google index content from within Facebook apps? (photos, events, custom app, etc.)
Hi guys, I've Googled the heck out of this query and I seem to run into very top level answers (and I do apologize if my ignorance is to blame), but is Google able to index content from within Facebook applications such as Photos, Events, and possibly a custom app? If Google is able to better index both Javascript and AJAX, I would assume that the simple answer would be "yes", but since many of these applications don't provide outbound links, tracking traffic and conducting follow up experiments appears to be quite difficult. Since many of us use Facebook as a destination, if we take the time to optimize deeper content by adding detailed captions in pictures or unique descriptions for events, how can we determine that 1. the content is being crawled by search engines and 2. how is that content crawled and disseminated for user consumption on search engines? I appreciate your time and thank you for your insights.
