I need to find a writer that is SEO savvy yet great with
1. Hooks (like hooking the user in. This site for instance has "Inbound marketing is complicated. Moz's software makes it easy".
2. Editing - Someone that is again SEO savvy, and doesn't mind editing my text. (Focused mainly on the text for the site right now, articles will be later.)
3. Explaining something complicated in a simple way that engages the user.
Anyone have any suggestions? Maybe even someone they use / used? Or which site do you all like best for finding a writer? I registered at textbroker.com but maybe need to look harder...just wasn't seeing anyone that matched that criteria.
My budget isn't high, but I believe in paying for quality, so even if I have to pay a high rate for excellent work, they'll also have to be cool with me only doing a page here and a page there every few days or so, as my writing budget for my new site is only $50-$120 a week right now.

I totally apologize. I only said that because I've only seen women doing video gigs. Most feminists consider me one, although I don't. I believe in total equality, I"m very feminine myself, and HATE how women have and still are being abused all over the world.
Where I disagree with a lot of feminists is the language police political correctness stuff. Also you can see the videos beforehand, and sellers can have addons. I've seen one fivverr gig to get mentioned on a national radio program....but you could pay him up to $550 and get like a 10 minute commercial.
The women on fiverr (in the demos at least) look professional, and not picking them because of their attractiveness, but because of their ability to read something and make it seem natural.
But yea sorry for the comment. I was tired lastnight and normally wouldn't use the word "chick". It's a thing in southern california, but at the same time I wish people wouldn't make such a big deal about words. That's what gives them so much power.

I love the contest idea for the slogan. I just am torn because I want to engage the user right away. Also let me explain...the site is already a somewhat successful site that I have to 301 to a new domain. (It started as just a business page for my computer repair services in Oregon, but turned into something else entirely that is already built. I have tons of subscribers and fans and stuff. But I'm making a KILLER site design wise, but mostly it will stay the same.
With the editing I wasn't talking about anything too fancy. The articles I wouldn't care too much if its by different writers. I'd actually probably do them, as I've gotten much better with articles. (Take my time and take lots of screen shots and been better at coming up with ideas people will like.)
I'm also thinking about asking my stepmom (she's in marketing) and a family friend. I"m worried with the contest that someone might steal my text or ideas. Probably paranoia but just being careful. Thanks for being so blunt and not beating around the bush. I love this forum because people don't tend to tell white lies to make us feel better, but rather tell us what we need to know.

There are a number of people who would not react well to the only qualification for the Fiverr gig is being a "chick" who can read a script.

Besides well-crafted craigslist ads and elance (Hint: On elance, don't put your project out for bid, rather, research writers who fit your requirements and ask individuals to give you a quote. If they haven't provided enough info for you to determine that they are a professional writer and an industry expert, they're not the writer for you.), LinkedIn is also a good resource to find writers that fit the bill. But again, you need to be able to be explicit with your requirements.

Thanks lots of good information. I'm really just talking about someone to write a couple sentences. I have other people that are affordable that can do the editing. The person I'm looking for would not be more than 500 words. I have editors and because its just a slogan and intro sentence I'm looking for from an expert, and I'd be writing everything else, then have a family member that happens to be a writer / producer to help edit my text for free. I already know my keyterms...This is a site that is moving from another site that has been up for around 4 years so I know what I'm doing SEO wise (not an expert) but I suck at writing. Hard to find a decent writer.

Your requirements seem to be a moving target--a writer of their own stuff, an editor of your stuff, a technical writer, a slogan writer, industry expert, a marketing expert, a voice over "chick", an SEO expert, and a multi-media expert.
I think that if you're having a hard time identifying the skill set you need, you're going to end up spending a lot of money for content that doesn't take your site where you are hoping it to go. First and foremost, you have to be the expert at determining what you need. You can't ask the content creator to carry the burden of making your site successful and expect to pay them minimum wage. It is just not a realistic goal.
In your case, in order to more specifically identify and express your needs and requirements I'd recommend spending extensive time examining your competition and their websites. Ex-ten-sive. Ex-haus-tive. Until you're blue in the face. Being the detail oriented person that you are, write down the ten needs your product/service satisfies for your target customer and then research how each of your competitors products/service meet those needs and what elements of their websites help or hinder them in that process. Recognize how they describe features and how they describe benefits. Research how and where your target audience is discussing such products/services and spend time reading those discussions. The more time you spend in this phase the better your content is going to be and if that content turns out not not to be successful, you'll likely have to admit to yourself that you didn't spend sufficient time on this exercise.
Once you have more objective thoughts on what you need, your next stop may be over to slogan slingers where you're be able to articulate your requirements and have a bunch of people compete to craft a slogan for you. Then, perhaps, you can go to elance or craigslist where you can look for an industry expert who's also a professional writer, pay that needle-in-a-haystack exactly the rate they're asking for because you're going to demand a lot from them yet you'll be able to give them clear guidance on the deliverable they're creating--and they'll thank you for that and you'll be satisfied with the result.

Thanks more good advice. I ran into a lot of the american writers that are retired and old, and don't know about internet marketing yet want an arm an a leg. I know the keyterms I want to optimize for.
Really my focus right now is just a way to explain my site (Which is unique idea and have competitors, but none are doing exactly what I am.
Basically its a complicated idea with a lot to explain. I'm almost thinking just having a video with audio and pay some chick on fiverrr to read the script so that way I could make it longer. (OPTIONAL of course, nobody likes video that just plays.) Honestly though I think it would be better to explain in text form. My explanation would be 5 paragraphs, because I'm way too detail oriented and have trouble knowing what is the important aspects to say and what aren't.
I guess my question now to all of you is where is the best place to find this person. I now totally agree they need to be an internet marketing writer (but an expert). Like really whats holding the site back is my intro slider. I want a slogan. and a VERY brief explanation as to what the site is about and why it's different. I want to engage the user from the start. If it's allowed if anyone knows a person (that I could look up and everything.), please message me their info...or what site would you recommend?

Your 1, 2 and 3 are nice.... but if your article isn't one of the best on the web for its topic and about a topic that lots of people are searching for then you are wasting your money. My experience is... you don't find that kind of writer by askin' people. You find that type of writer by getting into the SERPs where you want your rankings to happen and find someone who knows their stuff, is good at explaining and has access to awesome images... because somebody who wrote a kickass article for me about knitting is probably going to suck at writing about hydraulic jacks for you. If this person is writing for other people then you might be able to talk him or her into writing for you... but if that person is writing for his or her own website then they will probably know the value of their writing and you will really have to pay a obscene price to get them writing for you.
-
Very good answer. I actually wasn't going to propose paying by the week and would be per project, was just kindof giving my budget if that makes sense.
You think it's realistic to find someone that is REALLY good, to only do a catch phrase sentence, slogan, and maybe one or two more short sentences? Would $120 be unreasonable? I mean I'm talking like 100 words here tops.

Moosa is spot on. His advice is absolutely right. Good luck!

Basically you are looking for a writer excellent writer who have all the SEO knowledge and know how to explain your concept on paper. I don’t think it is hard to find a guy like this as they are many I know who can do this but honestly speaking the budget you suggested is too tight to get the quality work.
I will suggest you two to three things keeping your tight budget in mind.
- Get the writer from country like Philippines or Malaysia. Here you will find great writers who know SEO stuff for cheap.
- Instead of paying them on week, try to make it per edit or something this will be easier for both of you people.
- Increase your budget, if you are really looking for quality work done.
Hope this helps!

There are a few techniques you can use to spread out and get your content out there.
Moz Pro | | shoobi
1. Email bloggers and tell them about your content
2. Share it on bookmarking sites (like Reddit)
3. Contact influential Twitter and Facebook profiles about it
4. Make it easy for visitors to share your infographic with an embed code at the bottom
5. Share it on infographic websites (like https://www.prizebondtime.com)
6. Share it with your email subscribers (if you have an email subscriber list)
7. Post it on your blog, Facebook page, Twitter, etc. Basically everywhere. The name of the game here is to get your content out in front of as many eyeballs you can as possible. Then after that, it's up to how good your content is to begin the viral loop.0 -

How To Confidently Start SEOing?
Hi Guys, Im a Web developer (Front end and back end). Ive been learning SEO tips and tricks for the last 2 years but didn't have courage to apply them to any of my clients because of lack of confidence. I say lack of confidence because I never had a SEO Guru teaching me the "Proper" way to do SEO and see ranks change OR how to really take the first step when it comes to a SEO Project, so I didnt know how to even see if my work is paying off. Now I got this client who is a Vehicle Importer in Melbourne, and he imports cars from Japan. Im charging him $200/month for 12 months to improve SEO and cut down his competition and get his site on Google. But I have no idea where to start. His site has a blog setup already and its pretty good structure wise. I have done the On page optimizations and sitemaps etc etc, but not sure what to do next like to build links ?? or do off page optimizations, or do keyword research or really get the site on Google without any bull****?? Can you guys please please show me how to start a SEO project and how to actually use the new Moz to his best use? Thanks a lot for helping me. Regards

What's the best way for SEO newbie to analyze & fix a site after being hit by Panda?
Hi, I have a prospective client who was in the top 3 on Google for two of their primary keywords. They fell way back in the rankings immediately after Panda was rolled out on September 27, 2012. Two weeks ago, they were at position #118 for one keyword. After looking for them in Rank Checker today, they cannot be found in Google at all. Here's my question. Because of the "bad links" (some pointing to Porno sites)... what's the possibility that this situation cannot be fixed? I don't know... maybe I'm asking an irrelevant question. I'm attempting to assess the situation so I can go back and present my findings to the prospective client. I'm committed to understanding what's going on with their website so I can assess the situation properly. Fixing their problem starts with a correct assessment. They have a ranking problem, and I know I can fix that... IF all their site needs is white hat <acronym title="Search Engine Optimization">SEO</acronym>. What I DON'T want is... to sell them <acronym title="Search Engine Optimization">SEO</acronym> services, only to find out in 3-6 months... I made an incorrect diagnosis of the problem, and therefore sold them the wrong solution. I know I can close the sale if I can show them with reasonable substantiation that the damage is not beyond repair. I'm familiar with the basics of <acronym title="Search Engine Optimization">SEO</acronym>, but I'm unfamiliar with how "bad linking" might effect the long-term commitment to optimizing. They're wondering if they should start over on another website. I was attempting to do an assessment to better understand if my typical approach on this site would be sufficient. Also... I wanted to get an assessment/report to show them something to substantiate my conclusion(s) about their website. If Open Site Explorer is sufficient to do the link analysis... great. At least I know I'm working with the right tool. All I have to do is learn how to use the tool quickly. At this point... I'm not sure which tool would be helpful. So... can you speak to the following 2 questions: 1.) How do you know when ranking problem is beyond fixing? 2.) What software/tool is ideal for doing some link analysis in order to assess the problem, and prescribe a solution? Thanks so much! Ramon

I need country specific ranking reports for our Google/Yahoo/Bing positions
Hi Guys, Using the ranking reports given here at SeoMoz I cannot select various countries as it seems to only provide US Google/Yahoo/Bing results. I need ranking reports specifically for Thailand, UK, States, Australia, India, Hong Kong. Does anyone know of any such tools? Many thanks in advance.

Where do I find "URLs Receiving Entrances Via Search" and "Non-Paid Keywords Sending Search Visits" in Google Analytics?
These are two metrics highlighted in the "Organic Traffic Data" report in the PRO campaigns. Since this report is composed of data linked from Google Analytics, I bet there's a way to find this same information in GA. So...anyone know how to do that in Google Analytics? I want this information for some long-tail productivity/potential research.
