Link from Google.com
-
Hi guys
I've just seen a website get a link from Google's Webmaster Snippet testing tool. Basically, they've linked to a results page for their own website test. Here's an example of what this would look like for a result on my website.
http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets?q=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.impression.co.uk
There's a meta nofollow, but I just wondered what everyone's take is on Trust, etc, passing down?
(Don't worry, I'm not encouraging people to go out spamming links to results pages!)
Looking forward to some interesting responses!

I am happy they are now followed, I am sure when I previously checked they we no followed, no just to get a link

I'm surprised that they're not keen to link through - you're a reputable brand, and I'm sure they're making the same margin on the sales anyway.
Anyway, good luck!
PS. Links from here are followed! http://www.google.co.uk/intl/en_uk/chrome/devices/

its only on the .co.uk version and its a link on the Chromebook where to buy pages.
Its so difficult even my Account manager and support team at Google can't help.
As we don't purchase direct from Google, we don't have a marketing contact and this is the person we need to get the link.
I've probably had to do double the work to get listed where I am compared to my competitors.

Thanks for the response Andy
I guess it's easier for an agency to create these back links from a handy link on how to check snippets than it is for an ecomms site. If I get round to trying, and can even get some vague idea whether it's worked or not, I'll let you know! Shame nobody else has anything to contribute so far!
Ou of interest, which 'stockist pages' were you referring to?
Thanks

Hi
I have a similar issue, we are currently trying to get onto their stockist pages for some of the products we sell.
I know they are "nofollow' links, but I am thinking surely they must pass some weight to the product pages. When I last did the analysis everyone that is on the stockist page ranks above me, even if there DA is lower and all other Moz metrics is lower. (I know other factors affect rankings), but I am certain that getting a link will result in higher rankings.

Internal Linking
Hi I've been looking over my pages and it says for this page for example http://www.key.co.uk/en/key/1-6kw-halogen-heater I have too many links, I think it was about 178. These links are from the menu and bottom of the page - how much of an issue is this for internal linking structure? I wouldn't want to remove the menus or change them too much. Thank you!

Is a link inside a video player considered an inbound link from the domain the player is embedded in?
Good afternoon...We just added a link to our homepage inside the menu of our video player. In the link below, if you click on the menu icon in the bottom right corner of the video player, you'll see a "Powered by WellcomeMat" link at the bottom of the menu. http://www.wellcomemat.com/video/kt216e25172416n/-Rancho-Santa-Fe/Ca/92067/16596-Via-Lago-Azul/1234567890/ My question for the community is would that link be considered an inbound link from any site that has the video player embedded? So hypothetically, the video player is embedded into www.abcd.com. If a user would click on that link and go to our homepage, would search engines recognize that as an inbound link from abcd.com, even though it sits within our video player? And most of the time, the player sits within an iframe. So that's why I'm not 100% sure. Thanks for reading and for your help! It's much appreciated!!

Does Google still don't index Hashtag Links ? No chance to get a Search Result that leads directly to a section of a page? or to one of numeras Hashtag Pages in a single HTML page? If I have 4 or 5 different hashtag link section pages , consolidated into one HTML Page, no chance to get one of the Hashtag Pages to appear as a search result? like, if under one Single Page Travel Guide I have two essential sections: #Attractions #Visa no chance to direct search queries for Visa directly to the Hashtag Link Section of #Visa? Thanks for any help

Link to Google Places, or Google Maps?
On our contact page, we offer a link to view Google Maps for directions. I'm wondering should we be linking to our Google Places page instead, or just stick with the Google Map link? Thanks!

Have we suffered a Google penalty?
Hello, In January, we started a new blog to supplement our core ecommerce website. The URL of the website is www.footballshirtblog.co.uk and the idea behind it was that we would write articles related to our industry to build a community which would ultimately boost our sales. We would add several posts per day, a mix between shorter news stories of around 150 words and more detailed content pages of around 500 words. Everything was going well, we were making slow but sure progress on the main generic keywords but were receiving several thousand visitors a day, mostly finding the posts themselves on Google. The surge on traffic meant we needed to move server, which we did around 6 weeks ago. When we did this, we had a few teething problems with file permissions, etc, which meant we were tempoarily able to add new posts. As our developers were tied up with other issues, this continued for a 7-10 day period, with no new content being added. In this period, the site completely dropped from Google, losing all it's rankings and traffic, to the extent it now doesn't even rank for it's own name. This is very frustrating as we have put a huge amount of work and content into developing this site. We have added a few posts since, but not a huge amount as it is frustrating to do it with no return and the concern that the site has been banned forever. I cannot think of any logical reason why this penalty has occured as we haven't been link spamming, etc. Does anyone have any feedback or suggestions as to how we can get back on track? Regards,
