Add Tracking Parameters to Website Links on Facebook/Twitter
-
does anyone know of a way to add tracking parameters to facebook/twitter website links in the about us section so that we can understand what traffic is specifically coming from that page? I already add tracking to posts, but I am more trying to track each standard link on these social channels.
I am currently running into character limits or the result looks like a long url that will most certainly deter clicks because it looks suspicious.

You could purchase a short domain that represents your company - i.e. hmp.ge
Once you have that domain, you could use a service like Bit.ly to use your branded domain to shorten the long URLs
If you can't purchase a branded domain, you could always use Bit.ly's or Google's URL shortener to have a recognized shortened URL.

I am not sure. Is there a URL Shortner that keeps our branded piece in tact, but then shortens the rest?
so, it would be something like
vs.
homepage.com/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=AboutUs
-
ah, I see - You're trying to update the 'Website' field on your Facebook page. Unfortunately, FB keeps that section inflexible.
Can you use a branded, shortened link? That way you could add all the URL parameters, shorten the link down to the right size, and keep consistent with the brand.

Yes, that is ultimately what I would like to do, but this poses issues.
Example:
Website Link: http://www.homepage.com
Website Link using parameters: http://www.homepage.com/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=AboutUs
If I try and put the version with the parameters into my website link section, I either cannot fit it due to character limits or it shows to the public with all of the parameters visible, which looks suspicious to the common person and would deter clicks.
now you see my issue?

Are you tagging it with the Google URL Builder tool? https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1033867?hl=en
You can set the tags easily and then measure the traffic through GA

Facebook: reaching audience who have liked / shared my content
Hi, I am new to social, so the question might be a bit beginner. If I put a like / share / recommend button on my site, or maybe a comment box, how can I reach audiences at a later time, who have interacted with my plugins (liked/shared/commented)? Paid ads would be one solution, but for now I am interested in organic (free) targeting. So if people who share my content do not become fans at the same time, how can I engage them in new updates about my page? Thanks for thoughts.

Facebook description - How it affects SEO
Hello MOZ community, Today my SEO team and I talked about the activities we do in the social media. And one of the things that we discussed is the post description/caption. We upload a lot of unique, fresh and high quality content to our website on daily base, so we want our customers to reach these articles by sharing it on our social media channels. My question is: what is the best way to share a post in Social Media Channels and specially on Facebook ? what description should we use ? is it better to use the article's title? or new text with CTA (call to action) and ask the users to click on the link to read the article in our website ? Another question: how can we use the keyword targeting in the Social Media ? Thanks 🙂

Facebook and Google+ Not Properly Picked Up
Hello, I have been having issues for some time now getting my Google+ and Facebook activity to show in the social media section of site explorer. Was anyone else having this same issue? I have verified my website to both pages and the Facebook page receives a considerable amount of traffic so it is very confusing to me. Any help is much appreciated. Thank You Steve

Facebook and SEO
Hello, recently we've noticed my companies Facebook page (www.facebook.com/dishcostsless) is not being crawled by Google. When you type in DISH Costs Less Facebook it does not show up, even when you type in the exact URL there are no search results. We used screaming frog to check out the back end of the page and there are no meta tags like there are on most FB pages. Also we noticed there were two re-directs; one from the http page to the https page, and the other directed the https page to the http page creating one giant cycle. We think this has something to do with the problem but not sure. Is there anyone who has had a similar issue, and how did you fix it? We'd love to be assured that the search engines are tracking our interactions on Facebook for SEO purposes.

Received Tons of Traffic From Facebook..But from where?
I checked my GA account today and noticed that I had a ton of traffic from Facebook to a specific blog article on my site. I tried to look into it, but I can't seem to find exactly where it's coming from. Is there anyway I can figure this out? It's been bugging me all day.
