Sharing images on twitter
-
Hi,
I want to start sharing images on Twitter, because our industry regulator (FCA) suggests it's possible to share more info about complicated financial products (we are a mortgage broker) where you can't get all the detail needed in 140 characters to be 'clear, fair and not misleading'...
I have been thinking about putting mortgage info in images to be shared, but the problem I can foresee is if the rate gets withdrawn by the lender, and the image is already out there (hopefully being shared), it's still our responsibility (according to the FCA guidelines anyway), and we'd be misleading people (unintentionally, but still...) ... It's all a bit of a minefield!
So... If the image is hosted on our server and we just change the content of the image but not its file name, location etc... it should update, right? BUT is this even possible? As far as I can tell Twitter only lets you upload an image for sharing (so the image is displayed) and doesn't display images you're hosting...
If anyone can tell me how to do this I'd be very grateful... If it's not possible, please also let me know
Thanks!
Amelia

Thanks Tim,
I think we probably could put a disclaimer on like you say.
Best wishes,
Amelia

I don't believe that twitter images work this way. When you share or add an image to a tweet, the image I believe is uploaded to twitters CDN, thus once it is out, there is no way of updating it. Unless you choose to delete the old out of date tweets.
Could you simply not put in a disclaimer *all promotions and information correct at time of publishing etc
Hope that helps,
Tim

Do twitter profile links in bio pass juice?
Links that are added in the "Website" field in a twitter profile are nofollow. However, links added to the "Bio" section are dofollow. This has to mean these links are passing juice correct?

Website Competiton - sharing the entry on social media
Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you could help me with this. Basically one of our clients will host a competition on their website soon. Once a visitor completed the entry form I would like to have social media buttons on that page that automatically place text into your social media account if you chose to "share" or "tweet" your entry. For example it could automatically place "I have just entered to win .... You should try it out as well!" into the twitter or Facebook posting field. I have tried looking around, but honestly I am not sure what the look for. How could this be achieved or what it is called? Thank you

Why isn't SEOMoz using Wistia's social sharing feautes?
I noticed that SEOMoz does not make use of Wistia's social sharing buttons such as a Facebook Like button. Is there any disadvantage to using the like button via Wistia rather than copy/pasting it in static HTML?

B2B social share
Hello, Social sharing is a positive signal for SEO.Google told on its blog, Googlebot take car of more than 200 social websites. Sometime Twitter and Facebook aren't good marketing places because business isn't B2C but B2B. So customers doesn't use them for job, but they use Linkedin, Viadeo, Xing, and maybe some other. I can't be present onto all social website, I've to choose the most relevant.

Who do you follow on Twitter?
I am just getting to grips with Twitter, suppose its better later than never, and was wondering who everyone follows for SEO and Web Design. Personal i find it hard to keep up with more than five or six people with out getting information overload, and have no time for those that tweet twenty or thirty times a day about what they had for lunch or who they are meeting for drinks. If you had to pick the top five people to follow for SEO and the top five for Web Design who would you chose? I work on the SEO side of our business and i think my top five would be, in no particular order: Randfish

Regaining Twitter
Our Twitter account had been hijacked by an ex-employee who refused to give it back. However we filed for copyright infringement and got access of our Twitter account back. The sad part is that Twitter could not leep our followers intact and we lost our fan base of over 30k followers. Now that we have control of the account, how should we go about regaining our followers? Just to give the community a better idea i'd like to point out that we are a leading news organization (dawn.com) of Pakistan. (Yes, we have internet and no we don't ride on camels!). We posted a message on our FB account that has an even greater following but didn't get a good response as most followers on FB are local whereas 70% of our readership comes from the US alone! So how would you suggest regaining followers and also, is it better to operate an RSS feed or manually select the links to share on Twitter. Thanks!
