Help with Brands Facebook page
-
Hi Guys
I desperately need help on this one.......I have taken over the management of a Brand's facebook page and have some concerns as to how it was setup. The account was opened by an individual that has a personal account but they did not open the brands page from their personal account...instead they used a slightly different email address and opened a new page business account. I am not able to comment on any comments on this account and i am assuming it was as a result that there is no "profile" (not sure).
Should i go ahead and create the profile with the details of someone at the brand? or how should i proceed to rectify this......am i not able to comment as a result of not having a profile??
help!
UpDate: The comment issue has been resolved and it seemed to be browser / firewall related...never happened before...very strange

If it is a Fan page, and you have a FB account, you will be able to just add yourself as an admin. There shouldn't be a separate login.

I would request that they create a special email address for you, such as nomad(at)site(dot)com and use that for the facebook business admin.
As mentioned above, fan pages have a lot more useful tools. You can see some cool examples at facebook.com/redbull and facebook.com/cocacola

thanks Steven..it is a business page so only "likes" no "friends". I want to change the email access away from the original person who opened the account and use one of the senior members at the brand as the contact. this person has an existing facebook personal account so i am concerned if i can use their email on the business page (in fear of the two account violation)..or should i have the brand create a email specifically for the facebook acount...to play it safe.....i am a little confused with what emails i can and cannot be used if they are linked to existing personal accounts..with regards to only having one account.
appreciate your help on this matter as the more terms i read the more confused i am.

Is it a Fan page? I have had this problem already, here is how you know the difference:
With fan pages you can have multiple admins. You would log in to Facebook as yourself and then go and admin it.
If it was done as a personal page, where you have to login to that account, you might have a problem on your hand as there is no administration on something like that.
In my opinion:
If it was done as a personal page I would start by creating a Fan page and then just posting on the current one for everyone to go and 'Like' the new one because the current one will be shutting down. It will take a few weeks for everyone to move over and you may loose a few who don't log in to FB anymore.
There are advantages to doing it as a Fan page including:
- Applications
- Administration
- Metrics
- User Control
- Wall Control

Should rel=publisher tags (pointing out at Google+ Business page) only go on the homepage?
Hello, I've just read... “Publisher tags should only go on the most significant page of your site, usually the homepage.” Is this correct?

SEO & Social | More SEO effect by liking the page URL rather than the Facebook Page?
SEOMoz Gurus, I am wondering what our best implementation strategy shoul dbe around linking up the Facebook Like button on our pages. Essentially there are two options: A) Linking the button directly to the Facebook Page of the web site so every Like is actually converting into a Facebook "Fan" which can be messaged going forward through our Facebook page. B) Having them like the actual URL which might be more beneficial from an SEO and viral perspective as now a link to the actual URL gets shared on the Liker's facebook wall and it should also be easier to use that lIke for Google & Co. as it's tied to the actual URL not a random Facebook page given that search engines already convert those signals. Both approaches obviously have their benefits. Are there any common guidelines on what is a better approach to take from a pure SEO perspective? Thanks /Thomas
