Confused about the link metrics showing up in MOZ & OSE
-
For my campaign "itelligence Applications" which is for site itelligencegroup.com/uk/ - MOZ seems to be giving me different stats on links, depending on which tab I look it in the Link Analysis section. Then when I look at OSE, the numbers are totally different again, not just a little bit different.
Example: In MOZ Link Analysis, on the "inbound links" tab, it says there are 129 Root Domains and 6832 Total External Inbound Links.
If I then look at the Competitive Metrics screen, it says there are 46,284 external followed links and 240 total linking root domains.
If I then go to OSE for the same site, it says there are 14 Root Domains and 686 total links.
I have no idea why these numbers vary so much or how to even report them to my client.
Am I missing something here? Any help would be gratefully received!

Thanks very much for getting back to me, Jordan. Yes it does clarify and I hadn't realised I could toggle between domain & subdomain like that. It makes sense now!

Hi Maureen,
Thanks for reaching out, and sorry for the confusion! This is a tricky one! All of this information is pulled from the same source; it's just being reported in slightly different ways. This campaign is set up to track the subfolder itelligencegroup.com/uk/, which is totally fine, but is also the source of the confusion :).
In Competitive Metrics, you have the option to toggle between domain and subdomain (http://screencast.com/t/aguINJ3OlFCA). If you switch to subdomain then you'll see that your results realign with the numbers in your Link Analysis section.
Then for OSE, you can see 14 root domains linking to the subfolder itelligencegroup.com/uk/, but if you add that to the 115 linking root domains for intelligencegroup.com you get the full 129! It's just displayed in this way because of the geo-locating redirect associated with the root domain for this site which makes for some funky link reporting.
I hope this helps to clarify the data a little bit! Feel free to let me know if you have any further questions! Thanks, and have a wonderful day!
Cheers,

Moz Pro: Filter inbound links by partial anchor text?
My site has been targeted by a spam farm with hundreds of different domains, all linking to images on our CDN with similar variations of anchor text, eg: get free high quality hd wallpapers wedding cake makers
Link Explorer | | James_NZ
get free high quality hd wallpapers hairstyle makeover
get free high quality hd wallpapers living room cafe
etc Is it possible within Moz Pro to filter all incoming links with anchor text including "free high quality hd wallpapers" so that I can disavow all of the domains en masse? So far I've only been able to display/download the list of links exactly matching the full anchor text which is very time-consuming with 100+ variations. Regards,

If for few links the spam score is not discovered, then what is the possibility of risks for those links?
For one of the links, I was checking the domain authority and spam score for which the domain authority was 65 and spam score was not discovered. In such links how do I assume or what are the chances of risks with these links?

Inbound Links - How accurate or up-to-date is Open Site Explorer?
When I type my domain into OSE I get a list of linking domains. Most of them I have seen before and I know were active last year. However, when I click through, many of these links have been removed (which is what I wanted/requested) and some of the pages return 404. Google (via link:www.mydomain.com) doesn't show these links as active either. My question is why does OSE show them? Thanks
