Sitelink searchbox
-
Hi, Google has implemented the sitelinksearchbox. On one of my sites i have the results now when you search on brand name. Now i see at amazon.com if you use the searchlink box you directly go to the website of Amazon. I can't figure out how they did this. Can someone help me out?
Thanx, Leonie

i removed the parameter in WMT and today it works very happy with it

Hi Lynn, i send you a private message wit h the domain name thanx!

Hi Leonie,
Thats a good question, you wouldn't think it would make a difference, but a couple of weeks does seem like a long time to wait based on others comments (seem to be a matter of a few days in most cases). Not sure what else to suggest other than checking all the technicals again to be extra sure. If you want to mention your domain, I will have a quick look to see if anything obvious stands out...

Hi, yes i'm using a canonical with the trailing slash, so that shouldn't be the problem, though maybe my impatience is. I see other retailers in my niche have it already working
i have configured in webmastertools - parameters to disable the parameter: search? does that something to do with it you think?
Thanx for your thoughts!
Grtz, Leonie

HI Leonie,
It all looks correct and maybe it just needs time for google to pick it up. Perhaps one thing to check: google states that you should have a canonical tag on your homepage and that this tag should match the url declared in the code above. In this case your canonical should include the trailing slash, if it doesn't have the trailing slash then you should remove it in the line: "url": "http://www.mydomain.nl/".
Just a thought.

Hi Lynnp,
Thanx for your reply, i added the code a couple of weeks ago, but don't see the result. Just copied the code from the same site you mentioned and added our stuff in in it:

QA for Sitelinks Search Box
hi all, I have added the suggested code to my homepage as follows: This was added 10 days ago. I continue to see on Google SERPs a search box sitelink, but it produces a page of results on a secondary SERP page for my site instead of bringing people directly into my site to the search result page relative to their query. Is there a time lag from the time the code was implemented to when it is functional on Google? Is there any way to QA the code to ensure it works correctly and if Google has yet to include it in their latest cache?

Mini sitelinks in local-pack?
Recently after performing a search I noticed one result in the "7-pack" included several sitelink-type links. It stood out among the others to me, and I was curious if this was schema or perhaps Google playing around with their local results? I'll include a screenshot for an example, any insights or links to articles discussing topic this would be appreciated. Thanks Moz! ASLo4GF

Changing Googles Sitelinks
Hi all, I know Google will only show sitelinks if the site is deemed authoritive and if it will help the user searching a keyword, but is there anyway to order or control which links appear in the sitelinks? I know you can demote a sitelink in Webmasters, but is this not shooting yourself in the foot? If I demote a link will Google replace it with the next link it thinks is worthwhile and be doing this eventually show the links you want to appear in your sitelinks? Thanx Gary

Demoted Sitelinks Not Going Away!!!
I've demoted several sitelinks for one of our clients, but they are still showing up. They were demoted several weeks ago, so I would think that they would have been removed by now. I know that these demotions are merely suggestions for Google to follow, but they are usually good at honoring demotions. The issue is that our client hosts several job portals for clients on subdomains of their site and still need traffic going to these pages. Redirect workarounds have been suggested on the Google WM forums, but this is a unique situation. Personally, I think that because our client is an HR software company, Google sees the client job portal sites on their subdomain as still being relevant to the overall site, and won't honor the demotions because of that. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with subdomains and sitelinks? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

How Do I Make My Google SERP "SiteLinks" more relevant?
I have a shopping website with thousands of products, and the sitelinks that google has chosen for me (for a long time) are random product pages, which makes no sense to me. I do not emphasize those products on the home page, and I have a sitemap that clearly lists the directory of all the categories. I also added a "nofollow" attribute to almost every link on the home page that is not important. These products in the site links seem completely random and there isnt even a sitelink for "about" or any of the footer content! What gives? Also, my sitelinks never updated to the new, better version. Any suggestions?

Sitelink Disappeared from SERPs
Hi everyone, Something weird has happened to one of our client's site. First of all I want to explain that the client's name is something like a Person Name plus another generic keyword, for example Truxy Lawyers. Before when you searched for the brand keyword (in my example Truxy), Google would show in the SERPs the client's site as first result with six sitelinks below. Now when searching for the same branded keyword (for example Truxy), Google doesn't show the sitelink anymore, but the first result is the home page and the second and third results are subdomain pages. Does anybody know why Google all of the sudden decided to stop showing the site link? Things get more weird when you search the complete brand name "Truxy Lawers" for example, because in this case Google shows the site link. Does anybody know what has caused this? Thank you!

How Google Determines Sitelinks
Does anyone have authoritative information on how Google determines which links to use as sitelinks? I thought I saw that Top Landing Pages was a metric Google used (in part).

Sitelinks Query
Hello fellow Mozzers, first of please go easy on me as this is my first ever post ! I have a question regarding Sitelinks. Obviously I am pleased to have 8 Sitelinks now appearing in my GWT account. However one of my sitelinks has an obscure title of 'FIRST' which to the person searching will mean nothing - the actual link to one of my site pages is a good one and i dont really want to 'block' it in GWT and just wondered if anyone had any ideas what might be driving Google to 'auto-detect' the word 'First' for the link in question. The following 'google search example' link will show you what i mean http://www.google.com/search?q=where2stay&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a My result is the first one on the list. Any help from fellow mozzers is much appreciated. Many thanks
