Best way to learn UX?
-
Does anyone have any good resources, books, or methods to begin learning User Experience? I would love to hear anyone's advice or entry into it. Looking to mesh SEO with UX tactics to diversify strategies.
-
Don't forget to pull from your own experience. We've all encountered easy & difficult to navigate sites or frustrating checkouts - take the good, avoid the bad.
-
Focus groups... Find out what users want then design and build round this. Google only herps on about UX simply if your website is designed and thought out correctly users will share and stay and keep coming back to the website.

Hey!
Everyone has different learning styles so it's hard to suggest an absolute 'best way' to get into UX. If you're on twitter, I suggest following industry experts @jmspool and @lukew.
There are a lot of UX sites out there too. Page one for 'UX' or 'User Experience Design' on Google is a great start.
Because UX is so vast, you might want to get a sense of everything that encompasses it and then decide what aspects you really want to dive into. For example, you might find user research and usability testing boring but really be interested in Information Architecture or Interaction Design and focus on that.
It's definitely a smart idea to start to get more familiar with UX even if you don't plan on turning it into a career. UX already is a huge part of SEO in my opinion and is only going to become more important.
Best of luck!

Hi, the field of User Experience is vast. There are many books and online courses that go directly at the topic or show how to solve tasks with specific tools such as the now popular Sketch app for Mac and so on. I am sure others will post those. Others will also mention HCI and more academic subjects.
But a thinking man's or woman's guide to UX combines a wider sense of the subject — allowing you to communicate with ad agencies, clients and colleagues alike:
- Modern graphic design. Exemplified as a book in Josef Müller-Brockmann's "Grids in Graphic Design"
- Statistics, testing and data analysis. The best book might be a more general introduction such as "How To Measure Anything".
- To be honest, classical advertising also plays a role so reading "Ogilvy on Advertising" might place UX in a wider context.
Still, the most important thing is good knowledge of javascript.
- You need not rely on an external developer to implement many of your designs,
- You can quickly and easily test the various ideas found in popular books and academic papers alike.
- You can develop your good taste for the aesthetics of your products with small details that go beyond ordinary. We call them delighters.

Best Practices: Mobile & Desktop Ad Design for Adwords?
Is it possible to have Google Adwords display different page versions according to whether an advertisement will be displayed on a mobile or desktop device? We are a commercial real estate brokerage based in New York City. Most converting website use desktop rather than mobile. We are considering advertising on Google Adwords. Is it possible to have Google serve a more elaborate form of desktop landing page but have Google serve a stripped down version to mobile users? The stripped down version would be created using Instapage. From a technical perspective how would we create a more elaborate desktop version and have Google distinguish between the two? In our experience, mobile converts much less. How much less should we bid for keywords displaying on mobile? Thanks!

Is there a way to drill down on Facebook Audience's interests AFTER ad has run?
Howdy, folks. So, Everyone knows that we can create custom Facebook audience with all the filters, interests and behaviors and see what audience "consist of" in FB audience insights. That's all nice and dandy, but here is my situation: So, I "build" the audience the best way I can, run the ad, have, let's say average results. Theoretically (especially if audience is broad), I would be able to get better results if I was able to see which segment (by interests or behaviors) of targeted audience performed best. And then run another ad to narrowed down audience. But, as far as I understand and know, there is no way to do that. FB reporting only provides breakdowns on age, gender, location, devices and couple more things. So, is there way to get that data? P.S. If I'm still confusing, here are couple examples: I run ad for audience who have interest in football OR meat OR potatoes (let's say because I sell meat and potatoes dish for football players :D). So, is there way for me to find out which interest group performed best without running three separate a/b/c test campaigns (imagine if i have 20 "OR" interests)? I run ad for audience of male, between 22-44 age. Is there way to find out which interests group in this audience performed best?

Best Shopping Cart Recovery Service?
With GA's Real Time view of visitors to our Web store I see how many are "shopping" at our site. It's a bit frustrating to watch and then NOT get very many orders. I am wondering about the value of shopping cart recovery services and which one is the best. I would also like to know what the best ecommerce converting sites are.

Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO): Best Approach/Plan Documentation
Hey Mozzers - First off, I am well aware of what CRO is, its benefits, and why it is essential for any inbound or performance marketing campaigns. However i am a total newbie at the actual planning and implementation of CRO, so any advice/feedback on the questions below are much appreciated! When planning a CRO experiment/test what is the best way to document it? Should i develop the full plan ahead of time laying out each element? If so, what elements should i include in this plan? What are the KPIs i should report on? What tools should i use for reporting (i was thinking a blend of Google and Clicktale)? Any lessons learned through out your campaigns? Thank you all so much for your input! Regards - Kyle

Best Practices in Choose The Right "Meta Description Tag"
Hi there! In the "Meta Description Tag" we use some relevant-descriptive-useful-for-the-users keywords and we keep the length about 155 characters. In your opinion guys, is a good idea to add at the end of the "Meta Description Tag" a strong "call to action"? Maybe with some capital letter? Does it sound strange to Google? Even if this improve the Click Through on the SERPs? What are the best SEO practice to deal with "Meta Description Tag"?

Spam to site with GMail addresses - any way to resolve.
We are noticing more and more spam around: Customer Name: Sylvia Abernathy Customer Email: sylviaa386@gmail.com Customer Phone Number: Service Type Requested: Please Choose From List Service description: We found your weblisting on one of the back pages of Google. Wouldn’t you rather be up front? Our experts in Search Engine Optimization can help you become more visible and more productive. A quick email will get you details. This is from a site around auto and truck service and is an actual cut and paste. My question is twofold: Is there a way to report individual Gmail addresses to Google as purveyors of spam and beyond a capcha, is there any other work around? This is form to schedule a service appt. so they are not emailing to an info@etc.com type address. It is a contact form. Thanks
