How to detect where Google gets indexed URL's
-
Google index some kind of way some links that create duplicate content. We doesn't understand how these are created so we would like detect where Google robots find these links.
We tried:
- Moz Crawl Diagnostics but it shows 0 as Internal Link Count for these kind of links.
- Find some information from Google Analytics, that maybe there is trace (site content - all content) from visitors side. There wan't.
- We tried to find some information in Webmaster Tools under Internal link and HTML Improvements but didn't find any trace.
- Tried some search commands. Is there maybe some good one to search.
- TO search URL's form code with https://search.nerdydata.com.

It really isn't possible for an outsider to know why your website is generating those URLs in error; you would have to talk to your developer about that.
As far as canonicals, if your problem is page.com is getting duplicated by added parameters: page.com/?id=1, page.com/?id=2, page.com/?id=3, etc. as long as you have the canonical on page.com, all of the parameter pages will have the correct canonical on them as well. (But you are right, you should track down the source; your developer will know.)
-
Thanks you for your answer but yes I know that these are generated by our site. But problem is that I can use canonical tag for these that are indexed right now but later new ones will be created someway. Problem root isn't that we doesn't know how to use canonical, it's how to get to know where these URL's are find/indexed/detected by Google.
These kind of URL's have been there for months so we can't just hope that somehow these will be droped. We need to find some kind of solution and detect real problem.

If you found those URLs by doing a site: search, then those parameters are being generated by your site. (I am surprised that Google is even indexing them; I assume that pretty soon all but one will be dropped.) Here is an article that explains more about those types of duplicate pages: http://moz.com/blog/which-page-is-canonical
You can fix this by using a canonical tag on your homepage with the version that doesn't have the parameter.
-
Our front page has almost 50 duplicate versions. These are shown when we do site:oursite.com, there are /et?id=xx, /et?productId=xx, etc. In URL xx are different numbers.
-
Where are you seeing these duplicate content links? Does Webmaster Tools say that they are duplicate content? Or does this show up in your Moz crawl? What do these URLs look like?

Whats (Other) traffic in Google Analytics?
When I look through all our clients, a few are receiving the majority of their traffic from (other). [ Acquisition > Channels > (Other) ]. The only option in (other) is "website" or "offline", whatever that may be. And even weirder, the avg session duration is 0:00. Any idea what this may be?

Cross domain tracking Google Analytics
Hi there, Got a question on cross domain tracking: We have a couple of TLD's to serve localized content to our visitors, next to our main .com TLD where our app is running as well in a subdomain. Situation is this: Local sites:

marketingsite.be
marketingsite.com.br
marketingsite.fr Main site: marketingsite.com
app.marketingsite.com Conversion gets triggered when somebody ends up in app.marketingsite.com/firstuse for example. People can sign up at the local site filling in their email but they end up in app.marketingsite.com/firstuse Reading this article on cross domain tracking I'm getting a bit confused on the setup of the tracking code itself. The sample code provided shows these two lines: ga('require', 'linker'); ga('linker:autoLink', ['maindomain.com','targetdomain.com']); Now the question 🙂 Is it correct when I think that maindomain should be replaced with our local TLD's on every one of those, and that targetdomain is where the conversion happens? In this case the .com site?0 -
Google Analytics
Looking at a client's analytics - one page doesn't seem to record 'average time on page' data (it just displays 0.00 despite it receiving traffic) This isn't an issue for the rest of the website's pages. Any idea? http://www.smilestyledental.co.uk/ppc/general-dentistry-at-smile-style.html thanks for any help!

What is this GA URL I keep seeing?
According to google analytics, most of my traffic goes to two URLs: "/site/kempruge" and "/" now, I'm pretty sure both of these are taking people to my homepage, but I do not understand the "/site/kempruge' one at all. When I type www.kempruge.com/site/kemprure it 404's, so I'm not sure what URL it even is? Also, I'm wondering if this url is hurting my website in some way? I attached the screenshots, but they didn't load properly. I'll try to add another one in the replies. Thanks! Ruben [](<a href=)" target="_blank">a>

Alternative to Google Analytics
Hi from sunny Manchester! I'm looking for recommendations for alternatives to GA. I'm specifically looking for something which won't sample data and will give us accurate numbers. Our site is pretty big, it receives 6 million+ visits and 50 million+ pageviews/year. Any recommendations would be greatly received together with any good/bad experiences you've had with them. Thanks in advance, Brendan.

Tracking 301'd Domains
'ello SEOMozers 🙂 I've been implementing some awesomely search engine friendly 301'd domains for clients and they work great but I seem to have missed the point where I track said domains in some fashion and come here to ask the question --> how are you all tracking refers from 301'd domains that are pointed to your main hubs? Currently our practice in-house is to alias them in our servers then use .htaccess rules to 301 them to the 1 domain to-rule-them-all but Google Analytics doesn't recognize them as different domains with that plan of action and there goes my refer tracking. Is there a super-star way to use the Google URL Builder and combine that with the above plan of action or a better plan? Has anyone else implemented something else more awesome-er that could help a girl out? Much thanks and Happy Thursday!
