Higher rankings, low traffic
-
Hello There,
My question is the following:
How come my rankings are much higher than when I started with the optimization process (1 year ago) but my organic traffic is lower compared to the previous year (it didn't increase at all)?
NB - I haven’t received any penalization and the keywords I am targeting are definitively searched and are the most important for my company.
Thanks a lot

I would prefer some more details- which keywords, why do you chose them, higher rankings means what? Two, Three or 20 Positions? How often is it searched and how much klicks do you have. Whats the Keyword trend?
Maybe the chosen Keyword is wrong, maybe the topic isn't as hot as last year, maybe its an ugly search snippet ...

If your direct traffic is down as well, this could be demand issue.
A couple of years ago we did some work on a website centred around a technology that was going our of fashion fast. We got great results in terms of rankings and additional exposure, but the overall traffic barely stayed level. The issue there was simply falling demand.
Changes in demand are often most noticeable as part of seasonal cycles. Comparing to the same period last year is often useful. Tools like Google trends can indicate whether there is an underlying trend.

Yes my impressions increased. I daily check my rankings with incognito window in chrome and mozilla and they reflect the actual rankings. I forgot to mention that lately even my direct as well as referral traffic went down compared to the previous year. I checked also my index status and all the URLs I want to be indexed are actually indexed in google.
I can't find any reasonable solution

Hi,
Have your impressions increased in Google Webmaster Tools? I assume they have and if so it may simply be that your titles and descriptions are not enticing enough for searchers to click on.
Generally, increased rankings equates to increased traffic. Are you definitely sure your rankings have increased? Try searching your keywords in an Incognito window in Google Chrome without being logged in to any Google accounts and see if you appear. If you don't then the rankings your monitoring probably aren't the actual rankings you're seeing.
Hope this helps.

International Traffic on Analytics - Is this normal?
Hi All, One of our clients has asked why they are getting so much traffic from international countries when they solely operate in the UK. See attached image for % of customers who are visiting our site from different countries. Is this a normal ratio of traffic when we are only targeting UK customers? Thanks o6j2PEc

Google smacked my site and dropped all rankings, can't find out why
I have checked out everything, I mean everything. We have no dupe content, our content is a little thin, but it is ours and accurate enough to help our customers. We follow all SEO guidelines and make sure we de-index any pages with no / little content (like privacy, or faq) All in all, we haven't done any major updates to the sites, and everything was great (page one on almost all kw) but beginning of the month, all kw wiped to the second page, than third, than back to one and now pretty much gone (rank 100-200) I really don't know what to do. We didn't receive a manual action, and the last algo update was nothing big to cause such a drastic change. Meanwhile our competition (multiple sites) are gaining in ranks and nothing happened to them (most of them have even less content and not even SSL) Negative SEO is out of question, I check all links via ahrefs every other day. Any help is appreciated Thanks

Content marketing where articles aren't high traffic
Hello, If no one is writing articles in your niche and articles are very scarce in the top 100 landing pages, what does that tell you about content and content marketing in your niche

More USA traffic than UK.
Hi there, I have a site www.nut-job.com and I am currently getting more traffic from the USA than uk. Is there anyway of not getting listed in the USA and telling google that the site is a UK site?

Noticed Bing UK and Yahoo UK are almost exactly the same ranking results?
I've run a few keyword ranking updates today and I've noticed that Bing UK and Yahoo UK results are almost exactly the same? This is unusual, the results for these two engines rarely tally with one another. Is anyone seeing the same?

Does Page Load Time Affect SEO Rankings?
I was curious about how much page load times affect rankings. Here's what I did: I put together a lot of interactive media on specific landing pages Time-on-Page from organic visitors went from 50 seconds to average of 34 minutes Bounce Rate decreased by 20% Page Load time increased from 1 second to 6 seconds and at peak times to 8 seconds (on 56KB test) In the meantime the page was re-indexed and re-cached My question is three-fold: Would the time on page give higher rankings for keyword Would decreased bounce rate enhance rankings? Would the page load time decrease rankings? Did anyone do a similar test? What were the results?

HELP! 75% Drop in Traffic with no Explaination
Hello Everyone, After looking at one of my websites, http://pokeronamac.com/ I noticed that there is a significant drop in all traffic to my site. I cannot figure out what the exact source is, as we received no warnings in WMT, and as far as I know there are no major updates released in the last week or so by Google. I took a look at the content section of GA and I saw that virtually all of my content was seeing a decrease in traffic, meaning that it isn't specific to a few pages, which leads me to believe that it is an algorithmic penalty. My confusion was that there was no changes made to the website in the past few months, although, on September 10th (5 days after traffic dropped) I updated the meta descriptions and titles site wide. I don't believe that the penalty is from Panda or Penguin because we actually experienced a positive influx in traffic during the week of April 25th. I'd appreciate any insights into helping me recover from this so I can get the visits again that I had before. If any other metrics are required, i'd gladly provide them. Thanks Zach Russell 8NBwn.png
