Author Byline Question

What's the best practice for displaying author information at the beginning of an article?
We're presently displaying it as: By <Author> • Jan 16, 2015 • <City>.
We're considering making it even more concise by removing the term 'By'.
Would be shooting ourselves in the foot if we did this? Any other ways we should optimize?

In addition to what have already been said, I would consider adding rich snippets such as schema.org/author

I really don't think there's any "right" or "wrong" way to go about this. As Ray said, this is a very, very small aspect of your on-page SEO and shouldn't take up too much of your time in terms of worrying.
When in doubt, ask yourself "will this make sense from my reader's perspective?" On average, if you follow that line of thought, you won't go far wrong.

I think that the "by line" should be....

I'm curious why you think you would be negatively impacting your SEO by removing 'by' from the line?
I think this falls under a UI consideration, what makes the most sense for your readers. It's a very small aspect to the overall content of the page. I wouldn't worry about SEO impact for this change.

On Site Question: Duplicate H2...
Hi All A few on-site audit tools pull information on duplicate H2 tags on pages. This implies it's a bad thing and should be fixed - is that the case? On one of my sites the tag-line is in H2 in the header, so appears on every page... Just wondering if this is something worth fixing. Thanks

Effecting Domain Authority
I've taking an old brochure website and done 61 Pages and 10 Post pages On-page SEO and my Domain Authority is still a '1.' I've used Low Difficulty Keywords and gotten Grade A in On-page Moz reports. We've even keyworded 400 images - Alt text. My competitors have done nothing and they have domain authority at least in the 40s...... Am I doing anything wrong?

Domain authority dropped a lot in last month
I thought I'd asked this earlier but it seems to have disappeared. My client's domain authority has hovered at around 42-46 for the past 6 months. But in the past month it has dropped 6 points. Organic search traffic is up, no keyword rankings have fallen, external links are up slightly, but not massively. Competitors remain roughly the same DA although theirs are only around 14/16 anyway. What should I be looking for as to the cause?

URL question
Hi guys, the pro campaign thing you got going is wicked, love it. I'm recieving good results with my keywords and have noticed that categories that go beyond sub/sub/sub don't do to well. So I wanna move those that do one step up which makes it go from: http://spytunes.com/practice-guitar/advanced-routine/scales/aeolian to here http://spytunes.com/practice-guitar/advanced-routine/aeolian The existing menu system that follow all these categories across the site will soon go so it won't be a user friendly problem, I will have other type of menus. But, and here is the question: Would I greatly benefit from taking the non existent menu away and just go for: http://spytunes.com/practice-guitar/aeolian while i'm at it? Or do I stick with my current structure? I guess my real question is; how much is there to flat URLs? Cheers -dan lundholm spytunes.com

And if it is deleted i NEED to know why, i am currently on trial for PRO MEMBERSHIP, and getting my question deleted without any news is definitely not a good idea.... If i did something wrong, i need to know what is it.... (i dont understand , how on this green earth asking a question would be wrong though) Please responds, PS : My Last question was posted on "On-Page / Site Optimization" It asked 3 questions, all related to Search Engine Visibility, and the primary question is about "If i used php script to detect google bot / yahoo bot / bing bot, and then redirect them to page that have EXACTLY same content, but a much more SEO Friendly one, will this effect my seo standing" The website in question is http://atlantagenset.com In which case that website is full flash BUT it can be opened through any phone (I have built a php that detected IF you are coming from any mobile devices, it will redirect you to the right HTML version of that page) arghhhh i have asked the question, and have not got any responds for 6~7 days, and it got deleted??!
