Local SEO Benefit
-
Hi
Our company is looking to increase our local SEO footprint and wondering what is the industry average for traffic increase to quantify investment. Can’t really find anything online.
I understand this can be very subjective in relation to market size, competition, localization, etc but just trying to get a sense of opportunity if we cross our t’s and dot our i’s, what's the potential?
Context: We’re a national brick and mortar with eComm. We’ve already done a lot of leg work in optimizing our NAP but very little citation building/claiming.
Please provide resources for stats
Thanks for any input.
Cheers

In addition to Ray's response, are you also asking about increasing walk-in visits to your brick and mortar store via an increased presence on local search?
You're best planning gains will likely come from quantifying the average values of visits to your brick and mortar and ecommerce stores then planning for X hours of work to increase that number Y%. This is all going to be data that's unique to you.
Still, here are some guides to help you with your planning.

Hi WMCA,
Unfortunately, I doubt that the community can provide a resource that says 'if you improve local seo, your traffic will increase by x%' - you're assumption that these numbers are highly dependent upon the locale and website is correct.
You can do something like the following:
- Identify key, local terms that your company will target
- Determine the overall local search volume for the above terms
- Use search term ranking estimates for each term (i.e. come up with a SERP rank for each local term)
- Estimate the CTR for each term (use your historic CTRs with estimated improvement)
- Use the above to conclude to the total new traffic your site will get if all criteria is met
- Use an estimated ecommerce conversion rate (again, based of historical data if possible) and AOV to calculate new revenue earned

How does the new local pack change rankings?
So I just saw this afternoon that google has changed how the local pack displays listings, only 3 listings now show. Also Google continues to distance itself from Google+. Now it seems getting in the top 3 of the local pack is going to be even more competitive. What should the strategy be now for competing in the local pack? Has it changed? Or just stick to tried and true local optimizations?

Multiple locations and local directories
Hello, A client has opened a new office in another city. I have created a local landing page for this city. Now I want to build citations for it. However, I have already set up directories like Yelp/Yell with the primary/original address in the original city. Is it OK to set up new citations using the new city local address. The company name stays the same obviously. So I will have duplicate listings on the directories for the same company. Will this work? Thanks for any help

A site is preforming well for 1 local term, but with a slight change to the term it dosnt rank.
Ive got a site thats currently ranking #2 in the local 7 pack listings for the search term : "garden design [city]" but is not ranking at all for "garden designer [city]" (note the "er" at the end of designer). The search traffic for these 2 terms is pretty much the same, and id like to get the site ranking for "garden designer [city]". The only thing i can think of is thats different is that in the <title>tag for the homepage of the site we have "Garden Design [City] - .....", is there any other way i can try and up the local 7 pack ranking for my site other than changing the title tag ?</p> <p>Im thinking of running a link building campaign for the phrase "garden designer [city]", but apart from that i cant think of anything else that could help up my rankings for this, any ideas ?</p></title>

Branding Accuracy for Local Search
Hello Mozzers! We have a hotel client who's brand is, say "The Moz". However, they appear online with a few different variations, e.g. "The Moz", "Moz Hotel", _"The Moz Hotel". _In the past, we have tried to include the word "hotel" in client names on local listings, for search purposes. However, does branding accuracy trump what may end up being a small gain in search? Thanks for your thoughts! Frank

Moz Local for the UK?
Hell Moz family, My business recently bought 10 locations from a competitor, but I am having real issues claiming these new business listings from Google. I have tried claiming existing listings and starting new ones, but it seems Google have the old business as the registered owner and therefore display their icons in Google Maps and local SERPS??!!! Will Moz Local we rolling out in the UK as well as the US? It would be a great help to manage in one place. Regards Ben

Local domains vs. subfolders?
I am in the process of rebranding a B2B website for a UK company that has been established on a .net address for ten years. The CMS is Wordpress. The company has previously had localised content on .net/de, .net/au extensions for various regions where they have offices (US, Oz, various Europe.) I am getting varied and at times conflicting feedback from the creative agency, inhouse digital staff, and IT about the best way to proceed with the new website and in particular its future local language versions. Question 1: If we change the .net website to a .com address, will 301 redirects safeguard our SEO real estate? Question 2: we own the .com extension and have been using it for some back office stuff. It was purchased because it was advised that the .net did not carry much credibility in the US, is this correct? Question 3: If we change the .net to the .com which is hosted in the US, will we wipe our search rankings on Google for the UK and non-US locations? I saw this post and wondered:

http://moz.com/community/q/uk-rankings-disappeared-after-us-website-launch Question 4: is hosting the regional site best done on a local domain (we own a bunch) or does that not really matter? Question 5: If we use a WP plug in and just use subfolders for translating and localising content (US, Germany, Australia), what is the best way of serving that content for local PR? Sorry about the many questions 🙂 Guni0 -
