Links from other country same language

Hello Mozzers,
Let's say I have a local webdesign business in Zurich, Switzerland.
I try to get good rankings in Switzerland, to get real clients.
Now I have a blog in German (Yes, we speak German in Switzerland) and get most of my links from other German Blogs. Why? Most of the Swiss sites are competitors and there aren't many Swiss blogs for this topic.
Of course I have links from Swiss Sites too. But most of my strong links are from German sites, is this a real problem?
Thanks for your answers, appreciated!

Chaotic link building looks natural, google like natural things

You're welcome. It'd probably be hard to find a scenario where you could compare and contrast two such links--considering all the differences that go into it, so take that last paragraph as strongly hypothetical. All the stuff above it is what would more the needle the most in localized searches.

That last paragraph is exactly what I was looking for, thank you very much, Ryan!

With more localized searches I'd focus on the Local Search Factors (http://moz.com/local-search-ranking-factors) so that you have your real world presence tied closely to Zurich, then I'd also focus on getting solid social signals from the same (Google+ would be one of the best in this case). Optimizing around mobile would also be good as trends go from desktop to mobile the more local someone gets. Some hyper local paid campaigns within Facebook or LinkedIn probably wouldn't hurt either.
Finally you could expand your networking and link building within Switzerland either from sponsoring local charities, listing with local business directories, helping non-design blogs, and so on.
A link from a high powered Swiss site would probably be better than the same from a German site in a side-by-side comparison when ranking on something like google.ch, but at least your German links aren't hurting you. Cheers!

Thank you for your answer, I appreciate that!
Yeah, I know that it's a good sign in general. But if a majority of my best links are from another country, can I compete for searches in my local area. I mean, wouldn't a link with the same strength be better from a Swiss Site?
-
A diversity of links is a good thing actually, and one of the positives in search ranking factors. Often these types of links will fall under, "# Unique cblocks Linking to the Page" or "# of Unique IPs Linking to the Page" as they're from locations different than Switzerland / Zurich. See: http://moz.com/search-ranking-factors.
Have you been monitoring your user behavior via Analytics? Do you get a higher bounce rate of traffic when the visitor's browser is set to German? Those could be possible problems that you might want to address via translations of your page(s). Cheers!

Link Building where link building is dead. Latest tactics in a land of content.
Hello, What is your latest link building techniques considering manual link building is basically dead, and you should really build good content to drive results. Link building has really become less important. It seems to be much more 10X content now. What would you recommend for basic link building considering this besides the 50 first Links video by Rand, which is excellent. Thanks, Bob

Refferal links
I have a site where I can pick up where my hits came from. So if somebody clicks from another website link to visit my website, I will then pick up from which website they came from and also which page they landed on. Will google penalize me for this and see this as paid advertising?

Link Auditing
Anyone have any useful ways to link audit? I'm stuck picking up the slack from a previous worker who decided buying links was a great idea for our clients.

Thoughts on creating a resource/recommend links page in order to attain links?
Hey guys, Just wondering, how does Google view reciprocal link building nowadays? I've heard in the past that it's something that Google isn't particularly keen on. However, more recently, I've also read that - as long as the links are decent (and in moderation) - link exchanging is by no means a bad thing. The reason I ask is that I'm thinking of creating a "resource/recommended links page" for a client of mine. Because of their industry, it's really apparent that attaining links is often only possible if there is the opportunity of a reciprocal link in return. Therefore, I'd need to have a resource/recommend links page of my own. Is this something I should go ahead with to make it much easier to attain links? Or should I try to avoid reciprocal links and attempt to pinpoint one-way linking opportunities - even if they're thin on the ground? Any help much as appreciated as always. Cheers.

Posts and Page linking
Can I link from the post to page? I read on semoz that in order to avoid crazy linking I should not link from a post everywhere. Is it ok to link from some post which is in a category to a page?

Link value
Hi I have some links from blogs to our ecom website. My question is if anyone knows what happens if you have several different blogs on .blogspot linking in to you. Does that make them loose value because they are on the same domain? I can probably quite easily have 5-10 blogs on blogspot all with PA of 35-40 link in to us. Is it worth striving for or should i strive to get blogs that have their own domain to link into us instead ? Or equally important ? Dan Lærum

Link building
I have two separate websites on different servers and was wondering that since reciprocal links effectively eliminate each other, I'm curious if this link strategy will keep the links counting. Here's the strategy: I will have someone link to my site A and if i link to their site from my site B in a three way link strategy, will the links count even though both my site A and B have me listed as the Whois so Google knows that both sites are owned by me? Or will the links be discounted as reciprocal? Thanks in advance for your feedback! Take care, Ron
