How long does it take Google to give value to a backlink?
-
Hi
Once Google indexes your backlink does it pass value to that link straight away?
Before i was under the impression once backlinks were created (providing they were good links) you wouldn't see any value or the serp climb for 6/10 months, is that still the case?
Reason i ask is we're link building for a summer item and most if the back links are being indexed within a few days by Google. If the backlinks are given value by Google once indexed then we'll carry on till late summer. If its 6/10 months to be recognized we may start moving onto something else.
Advice would be appreciated.

Hi Ryan
Interesting reading and i know what you mean about Google being response.
Again thank you for your help as thats helped us move forward in our marketing for the summer season.
Many thanks

Or it could be the same day. In general it varies quite a bit due to both how competitive a term is and how much domain / page trust & authority you're working with in the beginning. There's no hard fast rule I know of that says a new page or site can not rank at all for X period of time. Plus it makes more sense for Google to be as responsive as possible based on searchers' expectations. Just look at the recent news on indexing Twitter for proof of that: https://www.stonetemple.com/how-does-google-index-tweets-today-how-the-new-twitter-deal-will-impact-seo/
Cheers!

Thanks for the info Ryan that makes sense.
So is it fair to say once Google has indexed the link, it could be 1 to 2 months to see an increase (if the link is a decent one)?
-
Hi Mark. Nope, Google can be much faster than 6/10 months. You'll see especially strong increases as well when you're dealing with topically fresh searches as Google realizes that there is a much higher demand suddenly for terms that were previously not as popular. This spurns on a different look at its indexed content and can change the serps pretty dramatically. EGOL has some great experience with this.
Also, links that bring in a lot referral traffic tend to generate some substantial serp climb as well. Basically something that goes viral does well in the near term and then tends to be stronger in the long term.

Backlink Audit
Hello, I have a quick question for the MOZ readers about my companies current backlink audit. We've noticed many of the backlinks that the Google Webmaster Tool has found come from websites that are no longer in existence or have error messages. Are these websites counting negatively against us or should we ignore them? Thanks! Alex Rubin

Backlinks outside my country
Hi there! If the product, service or resouce I offer is located in my country: Is it worth to include directories located in p.e EEUU in order to increase my Pagerank although this is not my potencial client (due to the "distance" obviouly).? If my potencial clients were people fromo other countries that could come to mine to enjoy this service? Should I include my links in directories of these countries and obtain links from websites of these countries? many thanks

Best way to index backlinks
We have created many high authority back links for our clients and after several months we have noticed 10% or so have actually been indexed (via multiple sources). I am trying to find a way to easily get these backlinks indexed. There is a bunch of software out there, some create RSS feeds and others social bookmark these pages. Any suggestions?

Link values
I have an interesting question, it's more to see other peoples opinions than looking for an exact answer, as I know noone can give that. If you had a good link on harvard.edu.. how many very low quality links on low DA domains that are full of junk, would you need to match the harvard link... if all other factors were equal. I'm gonna go for 500.. I've had great results with a few high DA/trust links. I'm not looking for anyone to give me a definative answer, just curious as to the views of other SEOs 😄
