Keywords ranking however the URL shown is not related to the ranked keyword?
-
Hi,
Some of our ranked keywords and URLs are not related. e.g. the served URL is not optimised for the specific keyword, any ideas?
Thank you
Daniela

Thanks Monica, seems the unrelated URL that is not being served is in the manage page grade section so I have removed this. Will the keyword & this URL (now deleted on the manage page grade section) then be updated as the URL is still showing related to the keyword in the keyword rankings section? Or will I have to wait?

I guess I was a little confused about which page was the targeted page. When you are looking in the SERPs are you searching while you are signed into anything? That can skew your results quite a bit. I would advise that you try to look while you are not logged into anything, and I find I get more accurate results in Internet explorer. Clear your browsing history and cache before you search also. That will help give you cleaner results.

Yes the chosen served page by Google (http://www.eurekaaddons.co.uk/products/sage-200-price-book-copy-discounts/) is serving and ranking as it has a B grade.
I will remove the unrelated page from the URLs and will add this in for its related keywords.
-
The reason that is ranking in my opinion is because the exact keyword is in the URL.
_The keyword is sage 200 price and the ranked URL is showing page http://www.eurekaaddons.co.uk/products/sales-order-plus-for-sage-200/. _**However, this optimized page does not have the exact keyword in the URL. **
You can delete the page that is not optimized, but you should double check the page that you want to rank for and see where else you can make changes to better optimize for your term.

Hi,
The keyword is sage 200 price and the ranked URL is showing page http://www.eurekaaddons.co.uk/products/sales-order-plus-for-sage-200/.
However, when you search the keyword the URL: http://www.eurekaaddons.co.uk/products/sage-200-price-book-copy-discounts/ appears.
Both of these URLs are listed in moz under manage page grades, should I delete the URL that is not relevant? The URL moz is using is not optimised for this keyword and is graded as an F.
Thank you,
-
Sometimes pages rank for a keyword that we are targeting because the page is seen as relevant. For example, my keyword is 22kw generator. I have 2 models that rank for this term, plus a page that just happens to mention the 22kw generators.
The best thing to do is to make sure that the page you are targeting the keyword on is correctly optimized and add a few internal links to the page from other high traffic pages on your site. Adding a couple reputable links to the page would also help. If you are tracking the keyword here in moz, go to Search - On Page Optimization - Manage Page Grades and remove the page you don't want attached to the keyword. Also, if you export that table into a CSV file, you can sort it by kw and see if the term is ranking on more than one page.

Hi Daniela,
If your URL is not optimized for keyword than you should use url rewriting to have keywords in URL.
Thanks

Can you provide a sample ? Need to see how they ranked your keyword by unrelated keyword?

How to determine if you have same site pages competing for rankings?
One of my client's sells career assessment tests / personality tests. The site includes a shop with detailed product pages for the tests and also has lengthy informational pages describing the science behind the different tests, etc as they are pretty indepth and hard to understand for someone who is new to them. The site also includes a blog that has 500 or more posts, all career related... some of them referencing products. My concern is: We'd like the product or information pages to rank for SERPs. Some of the blog posts are ranking instead for their top target keywords. My question is: Is there an easy way to determine which pages on a site are competing for the same keyword? And what is the best way to correct this issue and ensure the correct page gets targeted? I was thinking adding a noindex to the pages would be the best way. Advice is greatly appreciated!

Keywords/URL
Greetings! I've read previous posts on this topic, but wondering if something has changed recently...On the on-page grading, the following was suggested:Use Keywords in your URL - high importance - easy fix _(In the past it has read difficult fix). _Could it be as easy as creating a new page with the name in the url, then redirecting to it? My site is www.enchantingquotes.com and the keyword that brings in virtually all of business is "wall quotes". I've read in the forum this isn't worth the trouble of trying to do, but the "easy fix" comment has me wondering...?Any help is much appreciated....I'm been trying to recover from a recent unexplained drop in rank. Ugh! (So feel free to analyze my site LOL!) :DA huge thanks for any advise!

Google Keyword Research Tool - Monthly Totals for Similar Keywords?
Hi! I am doing some Google keyword research using the Google Adwords Keyword tool to decide what content to create for the masses. That is, to find opportunities to create content that is in-demand where the current offering is not satisfying the need effectively. Here are some keywords I picked out. I hope to produce a single piece of content optimized for some or all of these keywords. (See attached imgur link) The first thing I notice when doing this kind of work is that many similar-sounding keywords are showing the same sum of average monthly totals. This suggests to me that they may not actually be unique. For instance, the first two searches "guitar strings order" and "guitar string notes" each have ~5400 monthly searches. Does that mean 5400 each, or 5400 total between the two? So does anybody know if these are individual numbers or part of a bigger total? And if they are part of a bigger total, how could I estimate the average searches for a piece of content that targets all 8 keywords? If I tally all of the searches, I have over 23,000 potential searches per month. But if some of them are being counted more than once, so to speak, then the number could be much lower. ghmFYOZ

How Can I Rank My One Keyword ?
I read many places about never use the same keywords/anchor text this will consider as spam by google, so i want to know if suppose my main keyword is Indian bridal sarees than how can i give rank to that keyword, should i use the same exact keyword but in different format like bridal indian sarees or indian bridal sarees shopping something like that. Should i use LSI keywords in that keywords. Please help Second, I also read some people saying they use 70% primary keywords and 30% LSI or generic words, so that mean if i have 10 articles so in 7 articles i have to give primary keyword and the rest of the 3 will be generic. Kindly please advice this also.

Spammy Industry Keyword Research
Hi everyone, First question posted on here. I have spent a lot time this week going through videos and discussions since I signed up here earlier this week. We're just starting in a particular niche that is powerful (home-based businesses), but EXTREMELY spammy with all the at-home opportunities from stuffing envelopes, to MLM, etc. Then there's the other side which is not as spammy, but just not an overall good business model with the in-home Tupperware, candle, and makeup party sales companies. The people that we help and serve are just people who want to start up a part-time or full-time home-based business doing what they love. Maybe it's a dad who loves golf and would like to start a golf store on Ebay or a lady who is great at making stuff and wants to open an Etsy shop or start selling her goods at craft fairs. Our program is more about teaching them how to start a real home-based business that can either earn them a profit either part-time or fulltime while also doing what they love and spending time with their family. My biggest question right now as we begin the Keyword Research and SEO process part of this, is how do we go about doing the keyword research for this while also dealing with a spammy niche? All the research I've been doing for home-based businesses comes back to all the ugly examples I gave above and that isn't the type of people that we're a good fit for. I appreciate all your help and guidance in advance. Been doing web development for 10+ years but finally taking the tiger by the throat and actually learning the SEO/SEM piece myself.
