Analytics code removed and still collecting data
-
Google analytics code was removed from a website and then it started tracking a couple of days later to only stop again?
How can that happen?
Has the developer not removed the old code properly?
Can the code be injected remotely?
-
Likely this was caused by spam referral traffic. Check out the source during those days, I bet it's 100% referral traffic. This type of referral spam, also called ghost referrers show in inactive accounts.

If it was only a few days and just a few visits it was most likely a cache error where people who visited the site still had the with GA cached, look at the numbers and see if they are very low and all returning visits. If it was a small burst of new and return visitors then something may have happened with your hosting company where they had to use a mirror back up and it took them a few days to update to the most recently saved version. While Tag Assist is great, if you are not seeing any traffic in GA currently then you don't need to check anything now.

thanks everyone ....its not my website
i will use the tag assistant

Hi,
Tracking cannot happen without analytics code. You can check it either by Tag assistant(suggested by Brenden) or you can open your website in any browser and after that click on 'Real time' link in Google Analytics.
Thanks

It's likely that the same UA ID is installed on another site or was not removed correctly.
Are you talking about one of the sites in your profile? If so, it's def. still there. If not, post or PM me the link and we can figure it out.

Hi Felicity,
That's the magic of Google - they just know what's happening
A good way to test which tags are on your pages is to use Google's Tag Assistant. You can easily install it as a Chrome Add-On, reload the page you're interested in and it will show you which tags are present on your page. I checked your website homepage and your blog and both have Google Analytics tags present.
Try for yourself and let us know if you find the same.

Google Analytics to sub domains
Hi, I have a site xyz.com and two separate sites on sub domains xyz.com/abc and xyz.com/def. What's the best way to go about with GA such that I can get all the data in the same place. Should I use the GA code for xyz.com on sub domains as well? Or should I create separate profiles?

No data available for example.com in WMT. What to do?
Hi, Our problem is simple: we have statistics data for www.example.com but some data is missing for example.com (eg."links to your site", "structured data, "html improvements") . However, "search queries", "index status" and some other data is available for example.com. The problem is that we have over 5000 subdomains and we see no information about them.(especially links pointing to them). We followed every advice given by Google but doesn't seem to work: -Adding www.example.com and example.com in WMT -Setting www.example.com as the preffered domain -Using DNS verification to verify our site What do we have to do? Thank you, Axello

Adwords Clicks correlating to Analytics Paid Visits
Would appreciate if anyone could clarify for me the correlation between 'clicks' in Google Adwords and visits for paid search in Google Analytics. Currently i see several thousand clicks a day in Adwords, yet our analytics account will only report a few hundred visits so i do not know which data set to use as the most reliable source for analysis. e.g 16th May. Analytics > TrafficSources > Sources > Search > Paid = 208 visits Adwords > All Campaigns, Total Clicks = 1153 i have found a few other questions asking the same thing here and here but dont feel they answer my question. We know our Adwords account is linked to our Analytics account as we got in touch with our PPC account manager originally about this and on reiew they found an error in our setup. Since then we know this is working as search terms and source are showing up and we have auto tagging enabled. Thanks, Tom.

Drop In Analytics
So I have a site that was getting about 200 hits (not a lot). They came to me and asked to do SEO. There were over 50 pages in HTML format so I created header/footers and changed the .html pages to .php. I set forwards up in the htaccess and everything. I did everything that I was suppose to. Now when I go to the analytics it almost looks like it lost all it's traffic from the keywords it was ranked in. Any ideas on why?
