Anyone know the benefits of sharing articles blogs posts on stumble upon?
-
Hi ALL,
Just wondering if it is worth setting up a stumble upon account and sharing our articles or blog posts? I noticed a few companies in my industry who write alot of blog posts who share their articles to stumble upon. Anyone have any insight into the benefits of doing this for SEO?
Cheers

If they copy it then submit a DMCA to Google.. I don't even bother asking people to take down content. WHat I was referring to was legitimate referencing when they write their own unique article because they like the idea of my own article. This latter thing is what I would like to achieve. Social sharing helps get your content in front of other bloggers which can help facilitate this.
Basically if you have good content, people will over time give you links naturally.

Hi Jonathan,
Thanks very much for your feedback! I noticed you mentioned "you have someone decides to provide a link back because they write their own version or a related article" I heard this from another source I have been speaking to, someone I noticed re-created my article but put a link to my site from the article they re-created, is this something that is done quiet often? Or do we have the right to ask them to take the article down ? Although I don't see the article was completed a copy of mine, it was re-written of there own version. Any thoughts around that?
Cheers

Every post I write gets shared to about 16 different social media outlets. I do this not only to drive traffic (although some hardly drive any traffic if I am honest) but to also get the content out in front of other people. Who knows... sometimes I get a burst of traffic, other times I hope someone decides to provide a link back because they write their own version or a related article.
My best social networks are Twitter and Google+ and that is where my efforts go. If I had more followers elsewhere I would love to use those as well, it is just I use whatever I find easiest etc. Overall though, I have not found Stumbleupon very useful, although I don't really understand how best to use it or have not really put much effort in.

Use of Keywords throughout articles
Hi everyone, I have another (very basic) question! It's about the use of keywords throughout articles - is it worthwhile putting keywords and associated phrases in bold and italic and also underlining them at various points throughout my website articles? I have read that this helps google to know what the article is about. Any comments would be much appreciated!

Commentluv enabled blogs for inbound links?
Question 1: What is the general consensus on gaining links through blog comments on blogs with CommentLuv enabled? Backstory: I was studying our competitor's links and tripped upon something I haven't seen before. There were a number of blog comments created in 2011 by an individual who was probably an SEO hired at least partially for the purpose of making blog comments to gain inbound links for the competitor. I haven't dug deeply enough to find if there are any more recent than 2011. The interesting part was the name/link of the company for this individual which was not the company's actual name but a URL crafted from a main keyword. It obviously has a redirect to the actual competitor's website which is where the link took me AND a link to this individual's "most recent blog post". This blog post on the company site was written by someone else entirely. Question 2: Clearly some manipulation to build links- would these links be considered unnatural? Question 3: Would it be smart for me to find blogs with CommentLuv to gain links to my blog?

Anyone using Followerwonk? Email said SEOMOZ just aquired it.
Hi, So looks like SEMOZ just aquired followerwonk.com and that I have free access to this system. I had a quick look at it and it seems like it's an analytics program for twitter. Anyone used it? And can you use it to help grow your list? Cheers

Should I put my "brand" in every one of my posts / pages?
I've heard different thoughts on this and wanted to see what you the seomoz group thought. I have been leaving my "brand" out of my titles so I could create longer titles (without my "brand" taking up precious space.) I've also read that adding your brand can take away from the words you want to optimize for in the title / post. I've read other places that you want your brand in every page title to "strengthen" your brand. Long story short, I'm trying to figure out if I should add my brand to the my page / post titiles, or leave them as is. Feel free to check out my site and current title template if you'd like. Thanks!

Can creating a subfolder and seperate domain blog build external links?
So I am currently going through the creation of a blog with a client that has a company that sells tennis equipment. I have talked to their development team, who is a third-party ecommerce platform, and come up with an idea to create an sub-folder (domain.com/blog) with an article page using their existing framework that would feature full articles in a blog format. Then I would create multiple blogs for them using tumblr and wordpress with their company name and a few with unique names targeted to their niche. These would feature snippets of the content taken from their article page (domain.com/blog) with some responses or reviews on the full articles to further their outreach and then link to the main articles on their article page. These snippets would be divided up amongst the blogs and posted on different days of the week to divide the traffic. Each blog will feature fresh content and focus on a rotating schedule of the latest videos, re-blogs, memes, photos, highlights, scores, upcoming tournament reviews, etc. I will set each one up to rotate through these different topics on different days and times to create a steady stream of traffic. I want to make sure that I stress the fact that I wont be stuffing the unique blogs with links only to the clients company store, I will be making sure to keep it to an amount that isn't spam worthy. Now if these blogs feature rich content including the snippets of the articles from my sub-folder page (domain.com/blog) will these blogs pass link juice to the blog set up on my sub-folder? Also is this a good way to ensure brand awareness and create external links without damaging their reputation? Are there other risks that people have encountered by doing something similar? Please share your experiences so I can make an educated decision.
