Can I move Google tracking from one account to another?

Hi:
We've recently taken over the hosting of a client's web site. Is there a way to move the Google Analytics tracking from the old host's account to the client's account without losing all the history?

The code seems correct - so normally data should be identical.
Some things you could check:
1. Are you sure you are comparing the same timeframes & that the time frame you selected starts at earliest the day after you implemented the tracking code.
2. Install the Chrome Analytics extension (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/page-analytics-by-google/fnbdnhhicmebfgdgglcdacdapkcihcoh?hl=en)
Take some sample pages & see if the both codes are tracking the pageviews.
3. Check the setup of both accounts - make sure that filters etc are identical for both accounts.
4. Use screaming frog to check if both codes are present on all pages. You find a step-by-step how to do that here
5. Check if the codes are present on all domains (if the codes are used on multiple domains)
6. Download for both accounts the top 1000 most popular pages - put them in xls & check which one are missing - this could help you identify the pages that cause troubles.
If by following these steps you don't find the source of the differences, I fear I can't help you further;

Hi,
I would try to keep the current tracker as long as possible - but also add a second tracker from the Client account - after a while the current tracker will become obsolete. As backup - I would also download main historical stats & put them in xls.
Here you can find how to setup multiple trackers - I would call the current tracking something like "oldtracker" (the link is for Universal - it's also possible for the asynch version)

Thank you. I was afraid of that. I have access to the data as an administrator already. What would you do in this case?

Have them go to the "Admin" Tab and under "ACCOUNT" (far left) select the site from the dropdown and go to "User Management"
Have them add your email with all privileges selected as a new user.

To quote google:
- You cannot migrate historical data from one account to another. Thus, if you set up an account for a web property and then later want to move tracking to a separate account, you cannot currently migrate the data from the old account to the new account.

Is there a way to keep the access to the old account or does it belong to the hosting company?

Can Anyone help me with Google search console soft 404 error?
Hello everyone, I just build one site on WordPress and submitted it to the Google search console along with the sitemap. Some URLs got indexed but one of my URL is showing error in Search console. My post https://hotpass.site/create-subdomain-godaddy/ is showing soft error 404 webpage not available in Google search console. I have rechecked the site and seo settings. Nothing is there. I have even checked it with LIVE URL test. But still Search console is not accepting this URL. Can anyone help me with this? Help will be appriciated.

Google Crawl Stats
Hi all Wondering if anyone could help me out here. I am seeing massive variations in WMT of google crawl stats on a site I run. Just wondering if this is normal (see attached image). The site is an eccommerce site and gets a handful of new products added every couple of weeks. The total no of products is about 220k so this is only a very small %. I notice in WMT I have an amber warning under Server connectivity. About 10 days back I had warnings under DNS, Server and Robots. This was due to bad server performance. I have since moved to a new server and the other two warnings have gone back to green. I expect the Server connectivity one to update any day now. Conflicting numbers in Google Analytics
I am getting 2 completely different numbers in Google Analytics.According to the graph on my Dashboard organic traffic decreased ~40% comparing June 7 -> June 6.However, when I dig a bit deeper and look at the 2 dates specifically compared to each other I get a `3% increase in traffic.When I look at the traffic on just June 7, I get the number indicating the increase.Any ideas or someone getting similar conflicting numbers??

301 Redirect tracking
Hi All, I have a 301 redirect tracking issue. I have a domain, say www.123.co.uk and I have that domain 301 redirecting to www.abc.co.uk. Looking in analytics, I do not see any referral traffic sources for the redirect i.e. I do not see www.123.co.uk as a referral (and I know it does sent traffic). My question is - how can I implement a solution that will show referral traffic from www.123.co.uk to www.abc.co.uk as a referal in analytics? Hope that makes sense?

Google Analytics Myth?
Dear Moz-members, I have read several discussions regarding not to implement Google analytics on your website. Reason: Google is tracking your website behavior, for example you have a high bounce rate it will affect your rankings negative. See it as we are opening the doors too much to Google so it can have a negative impact on your online business, especially when your site is new and you are still building your credit. Because of this i have not chosen to install GA. What is your experience with this? Most of the time if i read analytics posts at Seomoz, people do have GA installed. I am also in doubt whether to switch over at GA, but then again mine site is relative new and i am still working on the negative bounce rate/daily visitors. Would like to hear from you pro's whether this is a myth or not 🙂 Thanks!

Google Analytics - Cross Domain Tracking Goals
Hi guys, looking at the best way to organize this - Site 1 - Shoe Store - (Old site with analytic history - UA-12345-1) Site 2 - Clothing Store - (Brand New UA-54321-1) Right now i have 2 separate GA Accounts for the sites. But i would like to track goals from Site 2 to Site 1. For that i need to set up cross domain tracking. So i take it i would need to create another account under Site 1 - (UA-12345-2) and put that new code on Site 2? Or do the UA numbers have to be exact? example both 12345-1? In which case, i would need to set up 2 different profiles with filtering? Main concern is i want to keep separate data for both sites, espically if UA's will be the same. Google Webmaster not accounting for internal links
Hi SEO gurus! All my websites in GWT show the website in question at the top of the "Links to your site", in the form of: Domains Total links my-site.com 1,000 third-party-1.com 500 third-party-2.com 300 third-party-3.com 200 etc.com 100 However, I have a specific account that suddenly (a few weeks back) disappeared its own link count: Domains Total links third-party-1.com 500 third-party-2.com 300 third-party-3.com 200 etc.com 100 Has this happened to any of you? Any ideas how to solve it? The website is www.gmvbodybuilding.com which you can see has plenty of properly formed links.
