from Wordpress PHP Code Or wrong setting. Can anyone suggestion what should we do for these issues ?
because i have many duplicate page title from this case. -
There are two things to do to fix this:
-
When you upload a photo to a post, don't link it to the "attachment page' - this is a unique page just for the image, and is not needed. Here are your four options ---> http://screencast.com/t/KlUXTbes
-
'None' - makes the image not clickable
-
Media file - links to the image file itself, which is good if you want users to see the image bigger
-
Custom URL - you can link the image to anything you want, like an external link
-
Attachment Page - is the one you want to avoid
-
If you use the Yoast SEO plugin
-
Go to Advanced -> Permalinks
-
Check off "redirect attachment URLs to parent page' - this will redirect any images on their own URLs back to the page or post.
-
-
Haven't you just uploaded two variants of the same image/post twice?, and seeing as the default URL was taken Wordpress has just assigned the -2/ to the second upload ?
Maybe just redirect the second one in your htaccess file or just ensuring you have your rel="canonical" setup correctly will ensure googles doesn't penalize you.
Also just an extra note you could can add a sortcode which make any duplicate titles Unique like this... %%page%% or %%term_title%% more available here https://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-wordpress-seo-by-yoast-page-variable-inserting-extra-sep
Hope this helps a little,
James

This may be the solution when you're also using the Yoast SEO plugin:

I am not sure that I understand, but I will try to guess a bit here:
1. You are publishing a post that contains the image of a Lamborghini but with no text content.
2. When you hit publish, it creates 2 posts with 2 almost identical URLS.
Are you having issues with WordPress making 2 posts at the same time?
-
@Rene Hansen : Thanks for answer, But my points why wordpress create a page that only for picture and not include
the content because when you see on the landing page you will only see the picture. Anyway when you delete the picture
name you will see the picture that already have in that content and if that possible because we publish 2 blog post in once
time how can we fix it. -
As far as I can see, you have made a new post with the same URL. That is why WordPress writes -2 at the end.
Is this happening automatically? Otherwise you could manually remove it.

How do we decide which pages to index/de-index? Help for a 250k page site
At Siftery (siftery.com) we have about 250k pages, most of them reflected in our sitemap. Though after submitting a sitemap we started seeing an increase in the number of pages Google indexed, in the past few weeks progress has slowed to a crawl at about 80k pages, and in fact has been coming down very marginally. Due to the nature of the site, a lot of the pages on the site likely look very similar to search engines. We've also broken down our sitemap into an index, so we know that most of the indexation problems are coming from a particular type of page (company profiles). Given these facts below, what do you recommend we do? Should we de-index all of the pages that are not being picked up by the Google index (and are therefore likely seen as low quality)? There seems to be a school of thought that de-indexing "thin" pages improves the ranking potential of the indexed pages. We have plans for enriching and differentiating the pages that are being picked up as thin (Moz itself picks them up as 'duplicate' pages even though they're not. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences!

Duplicate Content: Is a product feed/page rolled out across subdomains deemed duplicate content?
A company has a TLD (top-level-domain) which every single product: company.com/product/name.html The company also has subdomains (tailored to a range of products) which lists a choosen selection of the products from the TLD - sort of like a feed: subdomain.company.com/product/name.html The content on the TLD & subdomain product page are exactly the same and cannot be changed - CSS and HTML is slightly differant but the content (text and images) is exactly the same! My concern (and rightly so) is that Google will deem this to be duplicate content, therfore I'm going to have to add a rel cannonical tag into the header of all subdomain pages, pointing to the original product page on the TLD. Does this sound like the correct thing to do? Or is there a better solution? Moving on, not only are products fed onto subdomain, there are a handfull of other domains which list the products - again, the content (text and images) is exactly the same: other.com/product/name.html Would I be best placed to add a rel cannonical tag into the header of the product pages on other domains, pointing to the original product page on the actual TLD? Does rel cannonical work across domains? Would the product pages with a rel cannonical tag in the header still rank? Let me know if there is a better solution all-round!

Duplicated privacy policy pages
I work for a small web agency and I noticed that many of the sites that we build have been using the same privacy policy. Obviously it can be a bit of a nightmare to write a unique privacy policy for each client so is Google likely to class this as duplicate content and result in a penalty? They must realise that privacy policies are likely to be the same or very similar as most legal writing tends to be! I can block the content in robots.txt or meta no-index it if necesarry but I just wanted to get some feedback to see if this is necessary!

Best practice for the brand name in Page Titles
We are considering changing the way we treat our brand (TTS) in our page title tags. In MOZ I found the following advice: Optimal Format Primary Keyword - Secondary Keyword | Brand Name
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | TTS_Group
or
Brand Name | Primary Keyword and Secondary Keyword Are these of equal merit or is the former (Primary keyword | Brand) the better route? Currently we use the second version - 'Brand | Primary Keyword' - but we are proposing to shift to 'Primary Keyword | Brand'. We currently get an awful lot of brand traffic that converts very well so I need to be sure that no harm is done as a minimum. All views appreciated. Many thanks. Jon0 -
Incorrect cached page indexing in Google while correct page indexes intermittently
Hi, we are a South African insurance company. We have a page http://www.miway.co.za/midrivestyle which has a 301 redirect to http://www.miway.co.za/car-insurance. Problem is that the former page is ranking in the index rather than the latter. The latter page does index occasionally in the same position, but rarely. This is primarily for search phrases like "car insurance" and "car insurance quotes". The ranking was knocked down the index with Penquin 2.0. It was not ranking at all but we have managed to recover to 12/13. This abnormally has only been occurring since the recovery. The correct page does index for other search terms like "insurance for car". Your help would be appreciated, thanks!

Rel canonical on every page, pointing to home page
I've just started working with a client and have been surprised to find that every page of their site (using Concrete5 CMS) has a rel=canonical pointing to their home page. I'm feeling really dumb, because this seems like a fatal flaw which would keep Google from ranking any page other than the home page... but when I look at Google Analytics, Content > Site Content > Landing Pages, using Secondary Dimension = Source, it seems that Google is delivering users to numerous pages on their site. Can anyone help me out?! Thanks very much!!

Is there a way to stop my product pages with the "show all" catagory/attribute from duplicating content?
If there were less pages with the "show all" attribute it would be a simple fix by adding the canonical URL tag. But seeing that there are about 1,000 of them I was wondering if their was a broader fix that I could apply.

No equivalent page to re-direct to for highly trafficked pages, what should we do?
We have several old pages on our site that we want to get rid of, but we don't want to 404 them since they have decent traffic numbers. Would it be fine to set up a 301 re-direct from all of these pages to our home page? I know the best option is to find an equivalent page to re-direct to, but there isn't a great equivalent.
