Does anyone know of a good tool to identify brand mentions that through outreach could possibly be converted to links?

Google Alerts .. one of the handy tool to check up with brand mentions

Setup Google Alerts. These are one of the key ways to monitor chatter.

Hi there

You should check out Moz's Brand and Mentions page - it's available through Moz Analytics and you can set up notifications to let you know if you have been mentioned with or without links.

Rand also had a great Whiteboard Friday discussing 8 Ways to Use Email Alerts to Boost SEO that is super helpful!

Hello, I make websites so every website I make has a backlink to my website. Currently all my websites are hosted on server A, but my OWN website is hosted on server B. I plan to move my website to server A too. This will indicate that all the backlinks I have currently are from a difference server, now all these links will come from the SAME server. Will this have any results on my positions? Is this something that you have to take into account? Jeroen

Multiple Links from High Ranking Site Vs. Links from Multiple Domains - What's More Important?

I understand it is important to get links from many quality domains. Currently, I do have links from top domains (PR, Trust) and it I can get more from (high rank) pages on these same domains. Would it be better to focus on expanding my reach (find additional domains to link from) or to continue to build links from the current domains I have a connection with? What is weighted more? I realize doing both is important, but trying to figure out how to best use my time. Thanks! David

Are the following considered bad links for Link Building.

I've been doing a lot of research lately on link building & I've read a lot about having a diverse amount of links. Social links, Blog links, comment links, footer links, No follow links, Directory links as well as links with Anchor text URL match, brand match, partial brand match, non-descriptive, and with keywords. But there is a lot of talk of removing those links that look like a site that's built just for link building purposes.... but Directories are basically built for link building are they not? I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if they feel links from the following directories would be bad links. Groups of Links?

If I have lets say 5 sites and I am able to negotiate a link on a highly ranking site for all five of them together would there be potential for penalty for linking them together on other sites as well?

LINK BUILDING - Does it really matter if the link is not relevant?

Hi guys, I have just done a lot of link buillding and I thought I am just going to link build and I am not going to go after RELVANT links. I have property/real esate website and I have been any kind of link builidng and I have noteced some good increases in rankings.. So my questions is; Does it really matter if the link is relvant to property or real estate if I have got ranking increases? Or will it later harm my site?? Thanks Gareth

Why are none of my incoming links showing up in SEOmoz or Google? How do I get good legit incoming links?

There are hundreds of sites that are linking to my website, but nobody is showing it. Google wont display any when using link:eugenecomputergeeks.com, and in webmaster tools it only shows 46 incoming links. SEOmoz shows only 3 links. This just isn't so. Why is this? I DESPERATELY need valid incoming links from well ranked websites , and having lots of trouble getting them. Nobody in town with a well ranked site seems to want to do a link exchange, and I've already made the mistake of buying my way into directories, which didn't do anything good for my rankings. Thanks!

Facebook Mentions...are they worth the effort to get as back links?

I'm currently focusing on link building for one of the websites I work on. In reviewing past customers, I see quite a few that do not have a blog, but do have social media pages like Facebook, for their business. I'm wondering if it's worth the effort to get them to "mention" the website with a link and brief comment from their Facebook page. Thanks for any/all input.
