Two websites (Domains) with same content for more than 4 years which one to choose now?
-
Hi,
I need help with this decision, thanks in advance.
My client has 2 websites but they have the same content:
- one has 4 years http://radiocolombia.com.co/
- and the the other one 7 years: http://radiocolombiainternacional.com/web/
This content has been duplicated for years, how do I know which website is more relevant for google? we have to pick one.
Please any advice?
Thanks,
David

Teresita,
The first thing I looked at was the approximate volume of content indexed in Google for each domain.
site:http://radiocolombiainternacional.com/web/ shows 403 results.
site:http://radiocolombiainternacional.com/ shows 470 results.
site:http://radiocolombia.com.co/ shows 127 results.
While the "site:domain" check only offers an approximation, its a starting point to evaluate how Google sees each site.
An important question to ask then is "What is the real, actual count of pages for each domain?"
If it's on the higher end (close to 400 pages) for both radiocolombiainternacional and radiocolombia then Google APPEARS to be giving much more trust to content on radiocolombiainternacional.
If that is true, that's what I would go with - its an indicator that radiocolombiainternacional has a stronger foundation in Google's perspective.
If you have site analytics available for both, that's another path to dive into to get even more information and data that may or may not support that concept though. Just because a site has more pages indexed in Google doesn't itself mean that site is getting more quality traffic.
Another consideration is inbound "follow" links. What is the total count pointing to each?
Using OpenSiteExplorer, radiocolombia.com.co has more inbound links, and what appears to be a stronger internal linking structure as well. So that conflicts with the Google page indexed count. Except neither site has very many inbound links at all (a serious challenge that needs to be addressed whichever site you end up with).
Because of these factors, I'd need to see more information about each site regarding inbound links, actual page count, etc.
Since you say they've got the exact same content, I assume they're on the same programming framework so the technical factor is less of a comparison issue. When I visit the home page for each, they do look identical, so that reinforces the notion that technical factors are going to need to be considered.

Organic real estate shrinking year on year against adwords?
Hi Guys, Has anyone seen proof or studies which show that organic real estate is shrinking year on year, resulting in fewer clicks to organic results and more to paid search? Cheers.

Using Webmaster Tools to Redirect Domain to Specific Page on Another Domain
Hey Everyone, we redirected an entire domain to a specific URL on another domain (not the homepage). We used a 301 Redirect, but I'm also wondering if I should use the Google Webmaster Tools "Change of Address" section to redirect. There is no option to redirect the old domain to the specific URL on the new domain within the "Change of Address" section. Thoughts?

Sub-domain or new domain for new location
I have a small law firm in Dallas, TX. I will be moving to Austin, TX in the next 2 years. My website is doing great here in Dallas, but I have focused on keyword phrases that include the word "Dallas." I would like to leave my current website as is and maintain a Dallas office to keep the business flowing from this website. I am trying to determine the best way to get Austin business from a 2nd website. I know I will need new content that includes the use of the word "Austin". My question is: Should I put the new content on (1) a subdomain (i.e. austin.copplaw.com) or (2) a new domain (i.e. copplawfirm.com). I really want to be a player for the google local search results in both cities. I can use a different name for my law firm in Austin, if necessary. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Regards, Zac

Hey guys, A site that I'm currently working on as different domains for each website language. So for example: word1word2.com for the english version word3word4.com for the french version word5word6.com for spanish version .... Is it better to move all of the different languages to the same domain and use subfolders for each language /fr/... Please note that the domains being used bring in organic traffic as well as they are EMDs. Thank You.

Multiple domains expiring that have 301 redirects to my primary domain. Am I in trouble?
I recently took on the SEO of a large website with http://example.com. My predecessor bought 40 plus domains for specific cities like Jacksonvilleexample.com, Miamiexample.com, etc. ZERO of the additional domains linked to our main website. The domains that were bought basically had our exact same website in terms of content, links etc that mirrored our main http://example.com. I added 301 redirects to help problems that may be a result of this type of structure. Some of the additional domains were indexed and some were not but all have 301's and as far as traffic is concerned I'm not worried about loosing short term traffic. My question: All the domains are set to expire in June and I don't want to continue to have them 301 redirected to my main domain (example.com). I'm not trying to avoid the additional cost of all the domains but I don't see an advantage to having them so CAN letting all these domains expire hurt me from a long term SEO position if I don't renew them?

Domain w/ Identical Content to Site we are Optimizing
Hi Guys, We've been optimizing a client's site for about a year or so now and on a call the other day the client brought up that he owns and operates another site that's marketing the same product, but to a difference audience (we work on the direct to consumer side, this is a distributior focused site),with the same exact content as the site we are optimizing. Obviously this is a major duplcant content issue and we need to get it resolved very quickjly. We have already reccomendt to the client that we re-write content, but this is where my questions comes in - Which site should we rewrite the content on? The site we are optimizing is the more impoorant of the two, while we still want the other site to hold rankings we dont want to end up accidently optimizing the other site wherein the site we are working on full time suffers a lost when a "compeiting" site creates compeltely new content and may, accidentally, end up ranking higher than the site we are focusing on full time. As links also play a role, would that be a KPI to look at here in determining which site gets new content and which does not? In this scenairo, would would you guys recommend? Just want to make sure I'm dotting all my I's, and crossing T's here. Many thanks to all in advance, Mike
