Best .net cms and ecommerce platform for seo?
-
Hi and thanks for looking.
Due to internal constraints we are looking at a .net cms and ecommerce solution, I would have preferred a magento and wordpress solution but we have to work within our constraints.
Can anyone share their experiences or thoughts on what cms they would use with seo in mind and what eCommerce platform, again with seo in mind.
thanks again for looking and all replies gratefully received.

I believe with Kentico, you "SHOULD" be able to modify the UI to have a better feel, and sorta streamline it, that way only one person has to suffer, that person being the one doing all the set up.
I'm going through that right now. I'm building out a program that is a total nightmare. For everybody else, it should be pretty nice though... in theory...

Thanks Hashtags, that's a fantastic answer.
We were actually looking at kentico, umbraco, sitecore and ucommerce.
Kentico sounds good on paper but the ui and interface is really dated and not user friendly. Again on paper it does things like a/b testing, email marketing etc but in practice its very crude and basic.
Thanks against for your input and please keep the opinions coming fellow mozzers!

Good Morning,
Well, much like the world of Windows, .Net is so open ended I don't know where to begin. Now, I will preface this with I am more experienced with the Wordpress/Joomla side of things, however I might be able throw a little knowledge your way.
You already know that Wordpress is the easiest solution, so we don't need to go over how you should take everybody out to dinner, get them super drunk, and have them sign a document that states they will "only use wordpress".
Ubmraco is prob the most similar to Wordpress, its free, simple (for .net land) and in the long run, SEO will come down to your own ability to understand HTML and content editing.
Kentico may be the best solution depending on the size of your site, incredibly versatile, however, the free version is slightly limiting and the the enterprise solutions begin to get expensive quickly.
My best suggestion however would be to check out cmsmatrix I queried some results on that link with a shopping cart, web-based template management, etc and .net so take a look. Its pretty cool!

Do I need Yoast SEO video for YouTube videos?
I have been following advice for improving the SEO of my YouTube videos, for instance by having the keyword early in the title and description. Do I then need a plugin like Yoast Video SEO for my website where the videos are embedded to increase the chance of showing the videos for that keyword?

SEO and auto login with redirect
Hi, we have a site where user we know (cookie-based) is automatic redirected to private internal page. Unknown guests are staying on the page google search sent them. The redirect is done with a 302 to the private page. When I examine organic search and landing pages in analytics I see that more than 50% of the landing pages are private pages (inaccessible for the google-bot). This is because analytics does not register the redirecting page, just the target page. Is this harmful to SEO that so many users are redirected to other pages, or is this data not available to google-bot. The google bots is not redirect since they do not have the correct credentials. Do chrome or analytics send such data back to Google search? Is better to manipulate analytics page track call to use the address of the redirecting page? Or maybe skip to redirect, and just render the private content on the orginal page?

Best way for navigation, niche E-commerce
Hi community friends. Ive have started to work on our 2.0 e-commerce store mostly when it comes to design and the ux. Its a woocommerce setup and in total we have 34 products! We have e niche site where we sell products as a system towards the building industry. Each product served its purpose within a construction detail and needs some explanation for a first time user/customer. So, first thing we did now was to ad the short description to our loop to bring some more info to the user and guide them in the right direction quick. Now the products are divided in to four categories. We actually gain a lot of traffic from those category landing pages and i am not so eager to change the way the products are categorised. The old menu where built up by a sidebar with links to the different categories and to tags pages. Where the category where for example "Adhesive" and the Tag "Seal a window from the outside". The category gives the broader direction, and the tag gives the final usage/solution/purpose with the product. In the 2.0 we would like to remove the sidebar in the product pages in favor for a full widht product page with more focus on the product and the specs. This leads us to put our navigation up in the main menu part for the desktop version. Now to the questions. 1. Do you think that we are doing it the right way, to niche and set the final usage/path to our products with tags, or should it be done in another way? 2. For the UX, do you think that removing the sidebar navigation on the product pages will lead to a worse user/shopping experience? Attached you can see some pics from our dev server where the new menu are being built up, and also the new product page layout. Please give me some feedback! 🙂 // J open?id=0BzS3SfsD0lmcSFR4a21rRlVBcjA open?id=0BzS3SfsD0lmcM0djUi1pcXdrOWM

Image naming best practices?
While I have found many good sources of information for naming images for SEO purposes, I'm having trouble finding an up-to-date, exhaustive and authoritative source for image names, alt tags, etc. For instance... Max characters for image name? Max hyphens? How descriptive should you be? "ice-cream-flavors-icon_._jpg" or "ice-cream-flavors.jpg" or simply "ice-cream.jpg" How similar should the image name, alt text and page title be? At what point are you overusing a keyword? Rules to follow? So much more, but you get the idea! Anyone have a good reference or an answer to all things related to images and SEO? Thanks!
