What are the search pros and cons of a transcript of a video in scroll box
-
This is being considered for fairly templated pages as a means of adding unique text to the page, without giving up a ton of real estate. The text is all visible in view source, but only the first few lines in the scroll box. The box itself is just above the fold.
How, do you think this would affect search? Any other ideas for handling this. I'm limited by what the client will accept.
Thanks... Darcy

Regardless of how much is in the scroll it is all visible to google. Keeping the text visible on the page above the fold, with a few organically placed keywords is all first rate seo.
Hence what you suggest would only positively enhance your clients SEO - add in the usual caveats about keyword stuffing & relevance to be wary of. So unless I am missing something all good.

Video titles and descriptions
Hi everyone, I have a question about embedding videos on a website: if you optimize the title and description for the video in Youtube, will these be taken into account for the ranking of the page where the video is embedded? Or will only the Youtube link for the video show in SERP's, instead of the page itself? I've read in a post of Phil Nottingham that it's usually not a good idea to embed a Youtube video on your own site, but use Wistia instead, exactly to avoid cannibalisation of your own rankings. Is this correct? Thanks!

How Google organic search results differ in Local Searches?
We all know Google displays nearby results by locating our ip address. My question is how does these results differ? For eg 1. If someone from Newyork search for "chinese Restaurant in Newyork" 2. Someone from California search for "chinese Restaurant in Newyork" 3. Someone from California changes his location to Newyork and search for "chinese Restaurant in Newyork" What are the factors the Google SERP looks into to display the result in local terms?

Monthly Searches from Google Keyword Planner
I've used Google Adwords, Google Analytics and competitors keywords to compile a master list. I'm now looking to evaluate metrics on the keywords / phrases / long tail phrases. My question is this ... Based on Googles use of Geo Targeting, would I be better to evaluate metrics (Avg. Monthly Searches, Competition, Avg CPC) based on United Kingdom or my local city (I only operate in my local city). I am looking to use the results to redesign my website. I will use the favorable keywords / phrases / long tail keywords to implement a new menu, new content page creation, articles, etc. Thanks Mark

How to Improve or Recover Google Image Search Performance (Queries, Impressions, Clicks)?
I want to improve or recover Google image search performance for my eCommerce website. My website was working well in Google image search but, I found negative performance since implementation of CDN for all images. Before CDN my image path was as follow. http://www.vistastores.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/265x/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/1/0/10133_1.jpg After CDN my image path is as follow. http://lghttp.11720.nexcesscdn.net/805298/images/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/900x800/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/1/0/10133_1.jpg I can see that, Google image search performance is going down after set up CDN on my website. Because, all images are available on external server. So, How to recover Google image search performance after CDN or any idea to improve performance? 6871173584_a85e22ce1c_b.jpg

Does using robots.txt to block pages decrease search traffic?
I know you can use robots.txt to tell search engines not to spend their resources crawling certain pages. So, if you have a section of your website that is good content, but is never updated, and you want the search engines to index new content faster, would it work to block the good, un-changed content with robots.txt? Would this content loose any search traffic if it were blocked by robots.txt? Does anyone have any available case studies?
