Where to position a new page?
-
Hi there
Our website is about a particular region in Italy, the Langhe area, famous for food and wine (barolo and barbaresco are produced here). We need to rollout a few new pages about cellar/winery tours: one main page with the list of tours, and the various subpages for each tour. We already have a page about travel, and a page about wine (with a sub-page about wineries).
The URLs looks like:
langhe.net/travel/
langhe.net/wine/wineries/
(Note: i'm translating from italian here)Now, I'm wondering where is better to position the new pages:
langhe.net/travel/winery-tours/name-of-tour/ or
langhe.net/wine/wineries/tours/name-of-tour/From an SEO perspective (within my limited experience) the first option has a shorter URL, but the second feels more "natural" to me.
What do you think?
Thanks

Hi Ruben, thank you for your answer
The page is definitely targeted towards tourists, but I thought that I could promote it on travel page regardless of it's original position.

Hey Enrico,
Your navigation structure seems good to me but as far as your link structure is concerned, I have some thoughts. So these are your suggested placements,
langhe.net/travel/winery-tours/name-of-tour/ or
langhe.net/wine/wineries/tours/name-of-tour/So here you're going with more than three folders which IMO is not a smart way. Why don't you go with something like.
langhe.net/Italian-tours-best-Barolo-and-Barbaresco (Italian tour is the tour name, Barolo and Barbaresco is the wine) [Sorry I'm not familiar with wines and Italian tours:) You need to correct it]
In this way, you can target long phrases keywords and the URLs will look way better for users and remains SEO friendly.
Check out this great post from Rand on this:

I'd start with two questions. First, is your market for locals or is your market for tourists? Then, I would ask "is my market more likely to click through to the wine tours from the wine section or the travel section?"
Without any data, just my instinct, if you're market is for tourists, then I would put the wine tours under the travel page. I'm a tourist, I need travel info, while I'm on the travel page, oh look, there's a wine tour. I'd like to do that while I'm there. However, if I am local, I might not ever visit the travel page. Why would I? I live there, but I would check out the wine page. Then, I might want to go on a tour.
So figure out who your target demographic is, what's most likely to appeal to them and base the page position on that.
Best,
Ruben

Page Hierarchy Question
I understand the basic concept of page hierarchy, i.e. parent and child pages. My question is: Should the home page be the parent of all 2nd-level pages?  Can/should there only be one top-level page, the home page? In other words, is this: site.com/homesite.com/home/products  site.com/home/products/widgetsite.com/home/aboutsite.com/home/contactbetter than this:site.com/homesite.com/products  site.com/products/widgetsite.com/aboutsite.com/contactThanks for your opinion!

Building a new page: What on-page SEO would you build in?
Hi all, Building a new page for a fairly competitive keyword. Need to make sure the on-page SEO is pretty top notch, because link building (including internal links) will be difficult. I've optimised the meta description, the alt tags and image names, and included the keyword in the Title Tags. Not a great deal I can do with regards to optimising for mobile or considering migrating to the AMP project because this is handled externally. What else would you suggest? Cheers in advance, Rhys

Will it upset Google if I aggregate product page reviews up into a product category page?
We have reviews on our product pages and we are considering averaging those reviews out and putting them on specific category pages in order for the average product ratings to be displayed in search results. Each averaged category review would be only for the products within it's category, and all reviews are from users of the site, no 3rd party reviews. For example, averaging the reviews from all of our boxes products pages, and listing that average review on the boxes category page. My question is, will this be doing anything wrong in the eyes of Google, and if so how so? -Derick

2 Similar Pages
Hello, I have two very similar pages. The first page is an apartment rental page with a map, rental listings and some neighborhood data below. The neighborhood data includes useful info about the area with photos, text about the area, crime rates, avg. rental rates, etc. The second page is a neighbourhood guide that includes virtually the same data as the rental page, but in longer form ie. more photos, more text, etc. I want the rental page to rank, while ranking the neighborhood page is not important as it would be used more for link bait. But since the information on the two pages is the same, I don't want them to compete with each other. I'm thinking of putting a cannonical tag on the neighborhood page pointing back to the rental page. Is that the correct thing to do in this instance? Thanks for your help. J

What constitutes duplicate content on a page?
I am working on SEO for a Shopify store. Â Their products are very similar, hence the pages are so similar that Moz shows them as duplicate content. Â The only difference in the product pages is the title and model number. Â I am going to "go for the gold" and try re-writing all the product descriptions. Â It's incredibly difficult due to the products being nearly identical with just a minor variation. Â I know I could go down the road of just creating variants --- but the customer is not down for that. Here's my question: Â what constitutes duplicate content? Â 80% of the content, 90%???? If I can going to re-write the descriptions, what should I aim for? Thank you!

Too Many On-Page Links
Hello. Â So, my SEO team has worked very hard to finally resolve RogerBot/GoogleBot specific Crawl Errors either manually or programmatically can be fixed for our Budget Blinds USA Pro Campaign. Â We've done a good job even if a lot of it came from Robots.txt file entries as this was the most efficient way our client chose to do it. Â Good news is most of it is CMS configuration and not bad site architecture. That being said our next big volume of Crawl Errors is "Too Many On-Page Links". Our Moz DomainRank is 61. Â Our client, on this new version of the website, added a large nav-based footer which has duplicate links from the Header Main Navigation. I believe our solution is to put in No-Follow Metatags at the Footer Link Level, so we don't zap Page Authority by over-dividing as you recommend. Is this the best way to resolve this? Â Is there any risk in this? Â Or is a 61 DomainRank high enough for RogerBot and GoogleBot to crawl these anyway? Please advise,

Faq page
We are redoing our faq page and we were trying to decide on the best format. 1.  Create each question on a separate page 2. Create one page with all the question and have the questions expand 3.  Create different  faq category pages (like 4) and divide the questions between them From my perspective #1 seems the best ---. you can create hyper relevant content for the user and optimize each question really well Any experience with this?

Why has only one page been crawled?
I went over the list of possible reasons, but I don't think any of them apply to the site in question: sarahhueniken.com. Any other reasons only one page would be crawled?
